How many times have you worn heels all night long, only to dread the walk back to the car? Have you ever been out somewhere, and the strap on your shoe breaks? How many times have you met your BBF wearing your favorite pair of killer heels, only to find her wearing flats, and up for a walk? I bet you answered yes, yes, a thousand times yes to all of these questions!

The first time I went to New York Fashion Week, I killed my feet! I tried to wear high heels all day long. I had no idea fashion week involved standing in lines, walking-sometimes running, to catch a cab (this was before Uber), and walking; lots and lots of walking. I envied my smart friend Rita who would quickly slip off her killer heels for a pair of black fold-up flats hidden inside her handbag. Why wasn’t I aware of this trick?!

“Cathy,” she told me, “You have to carry flats with you for fashion week; or any time you are in New York. This is a walking city.” She was right! For the next few fashion weeks, I tried to carry flats in my bag, or wear flats during the day which did not really look right with my carefully put together ensemble. None of these options really worked. The flats I tried to stuff in my bag did not fold up, so they took up all the space. Where would I put my wallet? Better yet, where could I find a fabulous pair of fold-up flats like Rita’s?

I was thrilled when I found out about Talaria flats. They were exactly the fold-up flats of my dreams! They arrived in a cute little bag which fits nicely inside my go-to handbag for fashion week. I can still fit my wallet, iPhone, and camera inside my purse; even with the Talaria flats folded up inside. Love that!

Of course, my sparkling Talaria flats are perfect for many more occasions than fashion week. They are perfect for evenings out on the town when my sky-high heels start to pinch. They are also perfect to keep in the trunk of my car, just in case. Sometimes a heel can break (like last year when my 4″ heel snapped off my shoe while I was walking at church-embarrassing!), or a strap can snap off, rendering an otherwise fabulous pair of shoes useless. By having Talaria flats stored in my trunk, or tucked neatly inside my handbag, I am prepared for the worst shoe disaster!

I cannot wait to bring my new Talaria flats with me to New York Fashion Week next September. I am also looking forward to keeping them close-by when I am wearing my favorite high heels. Comfort is key; and being prepared is everything. 😉

You can find your own fabulous pair of Talaria flats online at TalariaFlats.com.

Denim shoes for spring 2016

Denim shoes for spring 2016 are a huge trend! Denim on denim, and denim everything, is a trend we have been watching grow over the past few seasons. For the spring 2016 season, it has exploded! This is the season to wear denim on denim, denim handbags, and of course, denim shoes!

With the move towards athleisure, and casual dressing for the spring season, denim shoes are a great alternative to canvas, leather, and suede for the warm weather season. Denim has a casual vibe, which also translates into a “cool” factor. This makes denim shoes a fresh, and easy way to make a fashion statement this spring season. Love that!

I love how denim high heels look with casual clothing. They offer all the benefits of a high heel or pump, yet offer casual flair due to the denim fabric. I definitely need to get a pair this spring season!

Denim espadrilles, and slip-on sneakers are a great casual shoe for everyday this spring 2016 season. They look fabulous with shorts, jeans, midi skirts, mini skirts, and jumpers. I did indulge in a pair of denim espadrilles for spring! I cannot wait to wear them with my warm weather, casual outfits!

Denim on denim is a continuing trend from last year into this year. Denim shoes are a great way to rock the trend if you don’t like a chambray shirt paired with a denim skirt or pants. They give the denim on denim look, without wearing tonal denim. This is my preference. I am not big on wearing tonal denim outfits. I like denim shoes paired with one other denim piece. I feel like it is a fresher take on the trend.

What do you think of denim shoes for spring 2016? Is this a trend you plan to rock as we move into warmer weather? Or will you find another way to incorporate denim into your spring wardrobe? Leave a comment below and let me know!

Pink bomber jacket for spring and Mansur Gavriel shoes

The weather in the spring can fluctuate from forty degrees, up to the high seventies. This means we all need a fabulous, lightweight jacket for the cooler parts of spring! I always keep a denim jacket on hand for spring, but one jacket can get boring fast. I decided to jump on the bomber jacket bandwagon, and invest in one for the spring season. (sometimes they are referred to as a stadium jacket)

So. . .raise your hand if you remember bomber jackets in the 1980s! My hand is up! Did I just date myself? haha, oh well. I was in grade school in the 1980s, and I had a shiny, green, bomber jacket. Everyone had one back then, they were the “IT” jacket to own; much cooler than those cotton twill things (members only jackets-yikes!) the nerd boys used to wear!

My Mother always told me to never re-wear a trend from your childhood, but weren’t fashion rules meant to be broken? Of course! So, I sprung for this cute little bomber jacket in pale pink. If I am going to jump on a trend, why not in the color of the year?!

This bomber jacket is quite cozy; it is perfect for wearing over lightweight tops. Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, we need to be able to peel off our layers. The fog will bring in fifty degree weather in the morning, then when it burns off, the temperatures can rise ten, or twenty degrees in one hour. So having a light top underneath a jacket is key. The bomber jacket trend for spring is perfect for our weather! Love that!

I also need to give a shout-out to these Mansur Gavriel mules also known as slides. Did you know Mansur Gavriel is making shoes now? Love them! These slides are super comfy; and perfect for the spring, and summer months. I bought them in classic black so that I can reach for them often. As you know, I am a Mansur Gavriel superfan; so these shoes not only gleam fabulous style, they are extremely well made! Of course price-wise, they are a great value. I don’t know how Mansur Gavriel makes such high quality handbags, and shoes, without the sky-high price tag to go with it! More reason to love Mansur Gavriel slides or mules, and their collection in general.

This outfit will be a go-to for the spring season. I mixed a 1970s inspired denim skirt, with a 1980s inspired bomber jacket, and mid-1990s inspired slides. Why not mix decades? It’s more fun to mix it up. Right?

What do you think of Mansur Gavriel’s new shoe collection? Are you planning to rock the bomber jacket trend? Leave a comment and let me know!
