Memorial Day

Memorial Day

Bay Area Fashionista would like to extend a special THANK YOU to everyone who has served our country, or is currently serving our country in the military.

We are extremely proud of all our service men and women and all the hard work and dedication they have given to our country and civilian population. Thank you for your generosity and all of the sacrifices you have made for our country. We salute you!

Patriotic and fabulous red, white and blue

Memorial Day Weekend is here and it signals more than just the beginning of summer vacation; it signals a time to remember and appreciate the work all of our service men and women have done for our country and us as individuals.

In order to honor the memory of our veterans, Fashionistas have the opportunity to show patriotism through fashion. The easiest way to show love for our veterans is by wearing red, white and blue. There are many ways to wear our nation’s colors this Memorial Day weekend in a fabulous and fashionable manner.

The easiest way to look patriotic and fabulous at the same time is by choosing one or two colors from the flag and wearing them in the form of a dress or separates. After choosing one or two colors as the base, the color or colors left out of your apparel can be added into your ensemble through accessories. For example; a solid red dress can be worn with white sandals and blue gemstone jewelry. A nautical blue and white striped top can be paired with blue shorts and a red clutch.

Nothing in your closet that matches the flag? Never fear! There are a few ideas in the collage below to help you get started, and Target has a wide selection of red, white and blue dresses and separates which are reasonably priced; this can help George Washington and Honest Abe stay in your wallet

Happy Memorial Day weekend, and stay fabulous

Going blue for summer

Last winter “Pantone” declared “Honeysuckle” the “IT” color for 2011. “Honeysuckle,” which was a bold pink shade, has been spotted in retail establishments throughout the spring season in many shades of bright and bold pink including hot pink and candy pink. As the fashion world moves into their summer wardrobes, savvy Fashionistas are starting to bore of all the bold pink shades and move towards an easier shade to wear; cobalt blue.

Cobalt blue enjoyed the walk down many runways during the spring 2011 fashion shows. The color, which is easy to wear no matter what shade of skin or hair a Fashionista has, has become increasingly popular as spring moves into summer. Designers have favored the hue over pink and cobalt blue has begun to take over the racks and shelves at fashionable retailers throughout the globe.

Cobalt blue can be worn in many different forms from a tonal dress to a pair of suede Louboutin’s to a bold and blue handbag paired with an all-black or all-white ensemble.

Since color is a personal preference and can make a Fashionista look like a fashion-victim in matter of seconds, cobalt blue is not the only color to wear this summer. Always remember to pick a color you love and makes you feel beautiful. Happy shopping and stay fabulous
