The return of the Gladiator sandal for spring 2013

The Gladiator sandal was a huge trend a few years back in 2008. Celebrities and Fashionistas alike were caught wearing gladiator sandals with everything from red carpet looks to jeans. For the spring 2013 season, the gladiator sandal is back and the look is to wear them with a skirt or a dress.

Gladiator sandals are hot for spring 2013. The last time they were on-trend, Gladiator sandals were flat and looked like they really were worn by Gladiators! For spring 2013, the Gladiator sandal has gotten a little bit sassier. Gladiator sandals are not only being shown in flat styles, there are high heel and platform styles! Fabulous!

Gladiator sandals are being shown in all of the hot colors of the season as well as metallics and neutrals. Any heel height goes this season where the Gladiator sandal is concerned; but for the freshest heel height, look for a flat sole and 3” heel. Love that!

These not-so-simple shoes look fabulous with A-line skirts, flirty dresses and all of the patterns, solids and color blocked frocks of the season. Although Gladiator sandals have a strong look, they are the perfect contrast to spring 2013’s soft fabrics and girlish prints.

Bright clutches for spring 2013

The daytime clutch has been a staple in almost every Fashionistas’ wardrobe over the past two years. This go-to handbag has earned popularity due to its simplicity and natural versatility. Daytime clutches, in many cases, can go from day into evening in a snap; making dressing for the office, then the evening, while on the go-easy! Love that!

The daytime clutch is still hot for the spring 2013 season, and this season, just like in spring 2012, the daytime clutch is bright, bright, brighter than bright! Spring 2013 is all about three types of colors; vivid pastels, bright colors and neon hues. That means, two-thirds of the daytime clutches for the spring 2013 are bright or neon hued! Put your sunglasses on, it is getting bright in here!

If you purchased a brightly hued daytime clutch in spring 2012, you are all set for the spring 2013 season; unless of course there are more colors you wish to purchase! Then by all means, go shopping! Otherwise, if you do not have at least one bright clutch in your closet for spring 2013, this is the perfect time to invest in a fabulous, bright daytime clutch!

New York designers continued to show bright colors for fall 2013, so buying a daytime clutch this spring will make a great investment for the year. When shopping for the perfect daytime clutch in a bright hue this season, look for colors which will continue from spring into fall.

The most versatile colors for the 2013 year include Emerald green, cobalt blue and red. These three colors can easily be purchased for spring 2013 and carry into fall 2013; possibly even through winter 2014! Love that!

Orange, yellow and bright pink are also fabulous colors for spring 2013, although they may not be as versatile when fall 2013 hits. Something to think about while shopping

Spring 2013 fashion trends: mod style

Ever since the television show “Mad Men” made its’ debut, Fashionistas everywhere have been influenced by the 1960’s styles worn on the show. For spring 2013, designers were equally influenced by this era; whether from the show or from other sources, the mod look of the 1960’s dominated the runways.

The Mod look was everywhere on the runways in the form of short, swinging hemlines to A-line skirts. The patterns were bold and geometric; taking color blocking into purposeful organization. There were cubes, wide stripes and dizzying prints which took onlookers back to the “Go-Go” days.

The bright color palate combined with the Mod prints has created a modern day 1960’s style which is hitting the streets as we speak. Consumers responded to this runway trend and Fashionistas on the street have been spotted not only wearing the clothing, structured satchels and kitten heels of the era, but wearing <gasp> beehive hairdos! Yes, that is correct! The beehive is making a bee-line for the street, and as shoes go down, hair is going up!

The Mod look is lighthearted and fun; making this a great trend for the uplifting season of spring. As blossoms bloom and flowers attract our eyes, the sun is shining; so why not shine in your wardrobe!

Look for bold stripes, bright colors blocked with white and structured small satchels. This look also does NOT work with platforms. For a true Mod look, seek out a heel height which is 3” or lower; kitten heels are perfect if you don’t mind the short heel. The Mod look can even be worn with flats! There will be some happy feet this season! Love that!
