Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2020 NYFW

New York Fashion Week is in full swing, and you might be wondering why I am not covering the shows on my Instagram account like I usually do. Well, this season I have to watch the shows from home. It was with great sadness that I had to decline my invitations to shows I normally attend every season. Rebecca Minkoff was no different.

Rebecca Minkoff is one of my favorite all-time designers. I own so many of her handbags, shoes, and articles of clothing. Her collections are always urban, chic, fashion-forward, on trend, fresh, and easy to incorporate into any wardrobe. Her collections always hit all the buttons! Plus, I find her quality to be well above her price point, making any purchase more than worthwhile. Plus, anything with her name on it has excellent resale value. So, if I stop wearing something and want to consign it, I will get a good return on my investment. Love that!

For the February 2020 New York Fashion Week season, Rebecca Minkoff stuck with her see-now, buy-now, presentation format which has been working really well for her, as well as so many other New York designers. As fashion week evolves, and it’s purpose changes with the onset of social media, changing ways people absorb media, and the desire to shop the runway right away by consumers, this format is proving to be both lucrative, and ideal for consumers. Love!

The spring 2020 season is offering us vivid colors. We are seeing shades of blue, bright and pale pink, as well as a fiery color palette which includes reds, oranges, and yellows. It is an uplifting color season, and Rebecca Minkoff chose the ideal colors for a happier mood this warm weather season.

In addition to brighter hues, spring 2020 is bringing us small floral patterns, and a little bit of motorcycle chic in the form of studs, moto jackets, and chunky soles on soles.

Spring 2020 is also offering us some vintage vibes from both the 1980’s and the 1990’s. We are seeing exaggerated sleeves, power suiting, and chicer versions of grunge items; minus the flannel and destroyed fabrics.

Rebecca Minkoff’s collection for spring 2020 at NYFW hits all these buttons! You cannot go wrong with anything from her spring 2020. Of course, you know I have to fill you in on her fabulous handbag collection!

I’m really excited about the spring 2020 trends in handbags. I love the vintage feel of the baguette silhouette, square mini-bags, and also the natural look of woven and raffia bags. In addition, buckets are getting a makeover in new silhouettes and fabrications. Of course, Rebecca Minkoff is always on point when it comes to handbags! All her bags hit one or more of the trends. Look for fun colors, metallics, natural fabrications, and new silhouettes. I have my eye on her red baguette for spring. It might get added to my collection!

Mixing decades for fall 2019

One of the runway trends which has inspired my daily outfits is mixing decades. Designers for fall 2019 took inspiration from several decades, two of which were the 80’s and 70’s. These are two decades I am feeling right now, so my fall wardrobe has several pieces inspired by both.

This top has a very 80’s vibe with puff sleeves and a flashy animal print. I originally purchased it to wear to fashion week, but I also knew it would be fun to wear back home too. As you can see, I have already been wearing it! I paired this fun blouse with 70’s style bootcut jeans for a mixed decade look. Overall, it feels more 70’s than 80’s, but it still offers vibes from both decades.

I wore this look last week while exploring downtown Los Gatos with my Mom. Although a Bay Area native, she had never really walked around downtown Los Gatos before! So I took her for a little tour, and treated her to lunch at my favorite Thai restaurant in Silicon Valley, Golden Triangle. Aside from the fabulous interior and beautiful presentation, the food is absolutely delicious! If you are local, be sure to check it out; even my picky children love it!

It was fun showing my Mom around, especially since she has been showing me around for my whole life! It was fun to switch roles for once! I even showed her how to use my little Canon camera so she could snap these photos of my mixed decade look. I think she did pretty well for her first time!

Wearing Rebecca Minkoff to Rebecca Minkoff

wearing: black/white sunglasses c/o Chico’s / blue hoop earrings / lipstick / Rebecca Minkoff top / Chloe bag / black pleated skirt / nail polish / Fendi ring / black high heel boots / sneakers from later in day /

This season, fashion week started on the third day for me. My kids have a busy schedule this semester, so I needed to wrap up a few things before heading to New York. On my day one of New York Fashion Week, the third show I went to was the Rebecca Minkoff presentation. Earlier in the day I attended Taoray Wang, and Son Jung Wan. later that day, I attended Chiari Boni le petite robe, and Chromat.

It’s always fun to wear the designer’s clothing to their show. Since I am a huge Rebecca Minkoff fan, and love snapping up a few of her pieces each season, I couldn’t resist wearing Rebecca Minkoff, to Rebecca Minkoff! Haha

Turned out, I wasn’t the only one with that idea, and many guests chose items in the same fabric as I. Needless to say, a ton of us were twinning at the presentation! In addition, since Rebecca Minkoff’s shows are “See now, buy now,” this was a fall 2019 presentation, not spring 2020 like the other shows I attended.

Myself and The New York Stylist -obsessed with her feathers! (Please excuse the horrible lighting, this was taken before another show at Spring Studios)

So, can you guess what happened next? Not only were a bunch of guests wearing this fabric, so were the models in the presentation! I now know this print comes in green, ivory, and burgundy in addition to the ice blue. There is also a dress, and a jacket; who knew?!

The collection was fabulous as always. Rebecca Minkoff was showing plenty of amazing handbags in her presentation; many of which feature the season’s hottest trends in handbags such as, snakeskin and cylinder shapes. There were plenty of fabulous outfits too, which are great for everyday wear. You can check out her entire fall collection online here.

I attended the show with a few of my favorite bloggers from the San Francisco Bay Area, Lizzie in Lace, Kat Walk SF, Kim Nair (not pictured-arrived after photo taken), and Fashion Should Be Fun.  We enjoyed a sit-down lunch at Pier 59 before entering the presentation. It was fun to meet up with everyone, and enjoy a delicious meal! Eating a meal during fashion week is a rarity, so this was quite a treat!

I’m looking forward to re-wearing this Rebecca Minkoff top with jeans and other bottoms back home, as well as mixing this black skirt with other tops in my closet; and sweaters when the temperatures cool down. Plus, this is a great outfit to wear altogether too!

In case you didn’t notice, I started in the high heel booties, then switched to sneakers. We do a ton of walking and standing at fashion week, so an alternate shoe, such as sneakers, is a must! I like how it looks both ways, but the booties are definitely the better choice! Haha
