When I first saw this skirt by Kate Spade, I instantly fell in love with it. Not only does it have a fabulous print featuring one of my favorite blue hues, it is lightweight and comfortable; perfect for summer!

The past couple of weeks, temperatures here in the San Francisco Bay Area have been hovering in the high 80’s and low 90’s. This has caused me to to choose an outfit each day which is not only appropriate per occasion, but comfortable in the heat. This skirt has worked perfectly for both meetings and church. Love that! I paired it with a comfortable, and lightweight, basic tee shirt. This has kept me cool in the 90 degree heat, while giving the outfit a summery and carefree look. Double love that!

One of my favorite summer into fall trends is the block heel. I love stacked, and thick high heels because they are easy to walk in. When the heel is thick, I don’t have to worry about teetering and falling, or possibly chasing one of more of kids. I can run in thick heels if I have to! These black suede high heels by Aquazurra are perfect for now, and the fall 2015 season. They fit into the thick heel trend, they are comfortable, and they are suede; a big fall fabrication trend. I know I will be wearing these Aquazurra shoes quite often throughout the remainder of summer and well into the fall season. They not only look amazing with skirts, these shoes are fabulous with flare jeans too! These Aquazurra shoes are great way to wear a fall trend before the start of the fall season. I love being slightly ahead 😉

Flare jeans and platforms

I am in love with the 1970’s trend of the moment. Everything about the trend, from boho-chic to flare jeans to uber-casual handbags; the trend just fits my personal style. Love that!

Although platforms were in style several years ago, and then out of style the past two years; I am thrilled they are back in style for fall 2015. Standing at 5’4″, I love any type of shoe which offers both height, and comfort. There is something about platforms which I find to be more comfortable than classic flat soled shoes. The platform offers a softer base for the ball of the foot than a thin soled shoe offers when standing on hard ground, or the street. I find platforms are easier to stand in for long periods of time than flat soled shoes for that very reason. This makes them perfect for parties; or any occasion where one has to stand! Of course, walking in platforms can be challenging.

I have found Prada makes the ideal platform. Their platforms are always walkable, comfortable, soft, and on-trend. The Prada plarforms I am wearing in the pictures above are from Prada’s fall 2009 runway. They are still in great condition despite being worn to death by me over the years. I feel like they are worth every penny, and if I purchase another pair of platforms this season, I will seriously look at Prada’s collection. Feet are our base, they should be kept happy  😉

I am looking forward to wearing my platforms again this season! Which trends from the 1970’s look for fall 2015 are you excited about?

Over the weekend, my husband and I took the kids to the de Young Museum in San Francisco. We have taken them to the Children’s Discovery Museum, The Tech Museum, and the Legion of Honor; but this was our first trip to the fabulous de Young! It was nice to take the kids to the de Young since both my husband and I remember our own parents taking us to de Young Museum when we were kids. We love being able to pass the experience on to our kids.

My kids favorite art pieces inside the museum included the early American silver service, the early American chairs, any painting with kids in it, the civil war era fireplace, the observation tower, and Keith Haring’s “untitled (three figures dancing)” which was located outside the building. Of course, they also loved the cookies in the cafe, and the books in the gift shop!

The pictures I took, shown above, were taken from both the ground, and the observation tower inside the de Young Museum. How amazing is the living roof atop the California Academy of Sciences!!

If you are local to the Bay Area, or visiting San Francisco, the de Young Museum is a must-see! Locals and tourists alike enjoy the important exhibits, and overall experience at the museum. To learn more about the de Young Museum, please visit their website online here.
