Do you have a fall go-to outfit? This is my current, fall go-to outfit. When I want to be cozy and comfortable, I reach for this pair of jeans, this long-sleeve tee, these cozy booties, and this blanket scarf in order to stay warm, comfortable, and to appear put together.

These photos were taken during a recent vacation to the Lake Tahoe area. I wore this outfit on Veteran’s Day. We took the kids into Nevada to Virginia City in order to visit the Silver Mine. You can read about fun things to do during the off-season in Lake Tahoe in my travel guide online here.

Virginia City was really fun on Veteran’s Day. They had a parade, and the town was decked out with patriotic decorations. There were a lot of people in town for the parade and events, so it was crowded with a festive vibe. It was so much fun!

After the parade, we took the kids to DanCin Crystal Company where they enjoyed panning for crystals that had been mined throughout Nevada. The owner of the store was extremely knowledgeable and told us about the crystals, as well as several fossils she had on display, and in stock. The kids loved it, and I learned quite a bit too!

My kids loved visiting the Silver Mine last time we were in Virginia City, so after panning for crystals, we took them over to the Ponderosa Mine Tour. This is a great silver mine tour which is interesting, entertaining, and educational. Love that!

Of course we enjoyed pizza for lunch, and ended the day with ice cream cones. If you are looking for a fun day trip, definitely head over to Virginia City in Nevada. You will enjoy it!

Wearing: red holiday earrings / MAC Lipstick / long sleeve tee / faux fur chevron jacket / boot cut jeans (old, similar pair here on sale!!) / Chloe Kurtis in purple / sparkling druzy ring / Diorific Golden nail polish / warm winter booties

The San Francisco Bay Area has been unusually warm this month. So, in order to cool off, and feel some fall weather, we headed up to Truckee for Veteran’s Day Weekend.

If you are not familiar with the Lake Tahoe area, Truckee is a town right off highway 80 in California. We love Truckee because we can avoid the crowds around the lake during the summer months, and we can easily get to the ski resort of our choice during the winter months. During the off-season, which is right now, we can hop on highway 80 and explore the area.

I purchased this chevron, faux fur jacket about a month ago and have been itching to wear it. The cool morning temperatures, and evening temperatures in the Lake Tahoe area this past weekend were perfect for the jacket since they hovered in the 30’s and 40’s. During the middle of the day, when temperatures reached the high 60’s, I just wore the tee shirt.

This chevron faux fur jacket is so much fun to wear! It has a 1970s vibe which is why I paired it with flare jeans. Although it was a little too “city” for the Tahoe area, where people wear ski jackets and casual outerwear, it was fun to wear anyway. No-one gave me side-eye, so I think it was OK. haha

I am looking forward to wearing it as temperatures drop in the Bay Area at the end of the fall season, and into the winter season.

On Saturday, November 5, 2017, the Junior League of San Jose celebrated 50 years of community service to the San Jose community. Over the past half-century, the Junior League of San Jose, or JLSJ for short, has contributed over a quarter of a million volunteer hours to the local community, as well as presented numerous grants to local community projects and non-profits. It is amazing to see how much a group of talented, hard-working, and dedicated women can achieve when the common goal is for the good of the community.

As a sustainer of the Junior League of San Jose, I am so proud of all the accomplishments the league has made throughout the years. It is truly amazing, and humbling, to see the fabulous community service projects JLSJ has developed over the years such as the Georgia Travis Center, InnVision, The Wonder Cabinet, and more; much, much, more! All of this hard work and dedication throughout the years was celebrated over the weekend at Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose.

The event included a speech and an award from the Major of San Jose, as well as a video depicting all of the accomplishment JLSJ has made over the past fifty years. Loved it!

It was fun to see a recap of all of the community service projects JLSJ has contributed to over the years, as well as catch up with old friends.

The dinner was  beautiful, complete with show-stopping floral arrangements. Dinner was followed by a yummy dessert buffet, and of course, dancing! It is entirely possible I danced in my 4″ heels for roughly 40 minutes. Yes, my feet hurt the next day, but it was so worth it!

If you would like to learn more about the Junior League of San Jose, and all of the wonderful community work we do throughout Silicon Valley, please visit jlsj.org.

Here’s to 50 more years of service in the San Jose area!
