Tucson and the night sky

Packed for spring break in Tucson: lipstick / spring nail polish / pink earrings / spring sweater / bucket bag / summer dress / maxi skirt / white top / western boots / sneakers / wide leg jeans /

Off to Tucson! For my son’s spring break, he wanted to go somewhere where we could see the night sky. I heard that Oracle State Park was one of the top night sky parks in the country, so I booked a trip to Tucson, AZ without realizing the moon would be almost full. Oooops. Mom fail. But I digress. . .

We landed in Tucson and the airport had a classic car on display. I love classic cars! So, I naturally had to snap a pic of this 1957 Chevy Bel Air on our way to pick up our rental car. Isn’t it amazing? Of course, our rental car wasn’t nearly as cool, so again, I digress. . .

We picked up our rental car and checked into our hotel. After getting settled, we headed out to Guadalajara Mexican Grill for dinner. It was so good! They made the salsa right there at our table, and as you can tell, it was in a large bowl! They made the guacamole at our table too. Both were seasoned to perfection. Love!

I enjoyed chicken tacos, and my son and husband indulged on burritos. The food was amazing, I would definitely go back! So, if you are ever in the Tucson area, be sure to stop in for lunch or dinner. Yum!

After dinner, we headed out to Oracle State Park. In order to view the night sky, you need to schedule an appointment ahead of time to get gate access and permission. So, if you want to visit, be sure to plan ahead.

Once we arrived at the parking lot for star gazing, we parked and let our eyes adjust to the dark sky. Unfortunately, I didn’t check the moon schedule ahead of time. Rookie mistake. We were a few days away from a full moon, so the moon was quite bright. We were able to see several constellations and stars; my cell phone photo below didn’t pick anything up. So, while the milky way wasn’t visible, we did see more stars than we would have back home. We were also able to see Mars, which was amazing.

It was a fun travel day, and our trip was just getting started! Stay tuned for more coverage from Tucson, AZ!

Beach day in the city

wearing: earrings / black knit top / spring nail polish / east/west bag / wide leg jeans / boots /

Beach day in the city? Yes! It does exist! Of course, it is still early in the spring season, so this is not a swimsuit kind of beach day, it is a delicious meal and take a walk type of beach day.

We started off by enjoying a fabulous lunch at The Beach Chalet. If you haven’t been to the Beach Chalet yet, what are you waiting for? The food is amazing, and the restaurant itself is iconic. It has been there forever. I remember going when I was teenager and in college when I lived in the city. There are sweeping views of the ocean and the beach, and the service is always impeccable. I enjoyed a crab melt with truffle fries, and there were plenty of vegetarian options for my daughter. Love that!

After lunch, we walked over to see the windmills. The flowers were in full bloom and the whole park looked stunning.

I mean, how often do you find a fog-free day in the city, especially at Ocean Beach?! It is so rare! I couldn’t believe our luck! It was a blessing since my daughter was home from college on spring break. I was so happy to give her a sunny day in the city.

If you enjoy lunch, brunch, or dinner at the Beach Chalet, be sure to visit the windmills too! After the windmill, we walked along the beach and enjoyed the waves and the recently cleaned sand. The beach looks amazing right now!

Watching planes take off

wearing: earrings / mocha scarf / spring sweater / spring nail polish / caramel top handle bag / wide leg jeans / boots /

So, apparently walking along a trail in Burlingame and watching planes take off from SFO is a thing. Who knew? We recently attended an event at the Marriott in Burlingame. We arrived early and decided to take a walk along the bay. There were many families with chairs set up, people taking a leisurely walk, and the occasional serious runner. As we walked along the trail, my husband told me how his dad used to take him there to watch places take off from SFO. How did I not know this was a thing?

We took a leisurely walk and watched planes take off while also getting a little exercise from the walk. After our walk, we enjoyed lunch at the Flights View Lounge. The food was yummy, and our view of the bay was amazing. We could see the end of the runway from our table, it was fun! If you are local, I highly recommend trying it.

After lunch, we attended an event at the hotel, and I brought in a Midnight Drink from the Starbucks in the hotel lobby. I had never tried this drink before, and I was impressed. I enjoyed it! Yum!
