Capes for fall 2015

Jacket and coat alternative for fall 2015 by Bay Area Fashionista

Fall is almost here, this means it is time to think about how to stay warm! Capes, wraps, shawls, and ruana’s are a few of fall 2015’s hottest ways to keep cozy instead of wearing a traditional jacket or coat. Love this trend!

With the 1970’s trend in full swing this autumn, capes, wraps, shawls, and ruana’s are the perfect way to achieve the ultimate 70’s silhouette while staying warm. Love that!

They are also fabulous when fall hands us in-between weather. Sometimes autumn days can beĀ cold enough to wrap up, but not cold enough for a wool jacket or coat. Capes, shawls, wraps, and ruana’s are perfect for those days! They are also fabulous for when the fog rolls in šŸ˜‰

I love wearing a cape, shawl, wrap, or ruana on a mild, fall day. They are the perfect way to keep warm when the weather hovers in the 50’s through low 70’s on autumn days.Ā

This fall, I am excited to wear my new ruana. This ruana is lightweight, yet cozy. It will be perfect to throw over jeans, casual skirts, and casual slim dresses this fall; especially when the fog rolls in!

A cape would be perfect this fall for dressier days. I am in love with this rain cape by Maxstudio, and also this classic black cape by Classiques Entier. I would also love to add this casual black cape by Topshop to my fall wardrobe. It is under $100!

I found a few fabulous capes, shawls, wraps, and ruana’s around the web and assembled them into the shopping widget below. I hope you love them! Happy shopping, stay warm, and stay fabulous šŸ˜‰

Now that winter is well on its’ way, it is time to think about serious outerwear for the cold weather season. One of the coziest, and trendiest, types of outerwear for the winter 2015 season is the puffer.

Puffers come in many different forms. Puffers come in three distinct styles; coats, jackets and vests. There are also different types of puffers including down, part down, synthetic down, natural stuffing and synthetic stuffing. In addition to styles and stuffing, puffer coats, jackets and vests come in different levels of warmth and many different colors! Whew! That is a lot to think about when shopping for a warm puffer this winter season!

Some of my favorite trends in puffer coats, jackets, and vests this winter season include asymmetrical zippers, winged collars, and mixed quilting. These three trends for winter 2015 in puffer coats help to make this traditional, puffy outerwear both fashionable and attractive. Love that!

I found a few amazing puffer coats, jackets and vests around the web and put them together in order to create the shopping widget below. Many of these styles are selling out fast; so now is the perfect time to buy a puffer coat, jacket or vest. I am trying to decide which one to buy myself! which style of puffer is your favorite for winter 2015?

Military Coats for fall 2014

Pictured: Earrings: Bauble Bar / Lipstick: c/o Dolce & Gabbana “Petal” / Dress: DVF Ā (last year, also love this one) / Coat: GuessĀ (on sale!) / Handbag: Chanel (similar) / Nail Polish: Essie Jiggle Hi Jiggle Low / Shoes: Valentino

The weather is starting to cool down, which means, we get to wear our coats! Yes! I needed a new black coat this season since my old coat was starting to look worn, so I was thrilled when I found this Military style coat on sale. I love the buttons and the way the warm, thick fabric drapes around the neck when it is buttoned up. I also love the off-center buttons on the back of the coat. My apologies for not showing a photo of the back, the pictures did not turn out very clear. We took theseĀ pictures quickly before I left for San Francisco last Saturday for the Parisian HauteĀ Couture Fashion Show. This is the outfit I wore to the show.

Military coats happen to be a big trend for theĀ fall 2014 and winter 2015 seasons. Although we usually see this style in traditional Military Green every autumn, this year designers have extended the style into shades of brown, black, blue and more! I love the structure afforded by the Military silhouette since it offers more design than a simple lady coat, single breasted coat, robe coat or double breasted coat. There is something regal about the buttons on top of the shoulders on Military coats. Love that!

I love this coat by Guess I found on sale. It offers Military styling with a twist. The coat has an asymmetrical front with minimal buttons, yet offers a recognizable Military vibe. The coat is also comfortable, doesn’t catch lint (this is huge!), and I like how it looks! This is also the first coat I have purchased in several years, so I am a little bit giddy šŸ™‚Ā

What do you think of Military coats for fall 2014 and winter 2015? Is this a trend you will be wearing?
