The first day of New York Fashion Week was hotter than hot. I mean as in temperature hot! (I know you thought amazing designs on the runway, there was that too, but the temperature was crazy hot!). So to keep cool, I paired a lightweight cotton tee with my new favorite go-to skirt for the fall season. This skirt is basic, yet not-so-basic. I feel like I can wear it when I don’t know what to wear; and to any event where I need to look professional! It is a great alternative to the classic black pencil skirt. When the weather cools down, I plan on pairing this skirt with sweaters and blouses.

This outfit was understated and utilitarian; perfect for running around New York to both onsite and off-site fashion shows! Day one was definitely my biggest, logistical nightmare, day during fashion week. I started the day with an off-site show, then quickly cabbed it back to Lincoln Center for an on-site show, then walked to an off-site show, then went back for an on-site show; rinse and repeat. Whew!

Thankfully, despite the hot and humid weather, I still felt put together in this outfit and cool enough to brave the busy day!

Stay tuned! I have a lot more spring/summer 2015 runway shows to bring you; as well as some Lincoln Center tent fun!

It was freezing in New York and as a California girl, I was too cold to take my coat off for the pictures! I am not sure how some women were walking around in crop tops and bare legs; I could see their goosebumps! So, I took a few photos when I wore the dress again earlier this week in mild, spring-like, California weather! This way you can see the dress without the coat 😉

This spring 2014 dress was perfect for fashion week since the fabric was thick and impossible to wrinkle; love that when I pack a suitcase! The short sleeves were a little chilly, but I survived with a coat and was fine when inside the tents. I lived in my 2009 runway Prada pumps during fashion week which have a fabulous lug sole. I was able to walk confidently without slipping on the slushy ice. Loved that!

Friday was my busiest day at New York Fashion Week. I attended five shows and was stopped a few times on the street by photographers. This was the first time photographers stopped me to take pictures and I was thoroughly baffled on how to act! I stopped and smiled, but completely forgot to ask them who they worked for! Only one photographer offered up her publication. I have to admit, the whole experience was flattering! The compliments I received were towards my Milly skirt and Rebecca Minkoff handbag. Due to this experience, I will be wearing both of these items well through spring, and possibly into summer too! How could I not?!

My shoes are from the fall 2009 Prada runway and I could not be more thankful for them! I brought them and wore them at fashion week because they have a lug sole which grips the ice and snow; keeping me safe from falls! In addition to the traction, they are extremely comfortable despite the pitch of the heel. This is a necessity since I have to stand in line before the shows and New York, in general, requires a lot of walking!

Friday was an amazing day since I was able to see Carmen Marc Valvo, Rebecca Minkoff, Lee Jean Youn, Academy of Art and Emerson. The designs on the runways were amazing and I was thrilled to have a sneak peek into the upcoming trends for the fall/winter 2014/2015 season! Just from Friday, I was already able to spot the importance of classic red and medium blue for the fall season.

There are many more shows to see, so at the end of it all, I will have a complete trend report for you! Thank you so much for your support and stay tuned for more coverage from New York!
