I love soft, cotton maxi dresses in the warm summer months. Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, we have been experiencing a heat wave which is taking temperatures up into the 90’s. Since those are normally July temperatures, I have been pulling out my summer wardrobe and enjoying the heat!

This dress by Soft Joie is comfortable and airy; perfect for a hot summer day. I also envision wearing it to the beach as a swimsuit cover-up; or even a summer pool party!

What are your favorite types of clothing for hot weather?

As summer winds down and our eyes become accustomed to a fall color palette, it can be a challenge to get dressed in the morning! Here in the San Francisco Bay Area we are seeing cool fog in the morning and warm temperatures in the afternoon. This means we need to wear layers!

I love this beautiful dress from IBISS Boutique located in downtown Willow Glen at 1100 Lincoln Avenue. The 3/4 sleeve dress is made from a lightweight cotton in a beautiful shade of burgundy. The maxi-dress looks like a fall piece yet offers lightweight appeal making it perfect for warm summer days. All I need before the fog burns off is my denim jacket! Love that!

The necklace I wore with the dress is also from IBISS Boutique. I love how it blends perfectly with the stripes. The neutral ivory color is perfect as we move from summer into fall since it can be worn with any color palette, any season, any year! How is that for the perfect investment?!

IBISS Boutique has a huge selection of jewelry which is both on-trend and classic. Their website, has a great selection from the store, but of course the store itself has a huge and fabulous inventory which is not to be missed!

If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, please take some time to pop into IBISS Boutique at 1100 Lincoln Avenue in San Jose. You will love the shop! You can also shop a sample of their inventory online Use code BAF20 to save 20% off your online purchase. (code cannot be used in-store).

Maxi dresses for the 2012 spring and summer seasons

Maxi dresses have been popular on the street for the past few spring and summer seasons, and 2012 is no different. Fashionistas have been flocking to maxi dresses for the warm weather season this year, and it is no wonder. After all, maxi dresses are an easy way to feel comfortable and casual while still looking polished. Love that!

Maxi dresses are being found this season in natural fabrics such as cotton and silk; making them perfect for warm and hot weather. With bright colors and stripes being hot trends for the spring and summer 2012 seasons, maxi dresses are appearing on store shelves in bright, vivid hues as well as nautical stripes.

There are three dominant necklines for maxi dresses this season; strapless, halter and tank. When shopping for a maxi dress, look for strapless styles, effortless tank dresses which can easily be belted and sassy halter top maxi dresses which also look fabulous as swim suit cover-ups at the beach. Love it!

The maxi dress is perfect for casual days and can easily be paired with embellished flat sandals or wedges. To dress up a maxi dress, a Fashionista can easily add a stack of bracelets and large earrings; playing into the current bold jewelry trend. To finish off the look, pair a daytime clutch or unstructured satchel, such as a Balenciaga City Tote, with a maxi dress for the ultimate in casual cool. Fabulous!

We found a few maxi dresses around the web and assembled them into the Polyvore set below; enjoy!
