OK, this photo is a little overexposed. I’m not sure what is going on with my DSLR, but it’s doing weird things with light lately. I am pretty sure it is time to replace it; after all, it’s a 2013 model. I’m just torn as to whether or not I should invest in a new DSLR, or go mirrorless; if you are familiar with cameras, I would love a suggestion and/or tip in the comments below!

Now, onto fall beauty! I have kept my skin care routine, and makeup routine the same for the fall 2019 season, as it was in the summer 2019 season. I am adding this fabulous curling iron in an attempt to make my hair look better; haha. It’s a really cool curling iron which creates the coolest looking beach waves. Even a hair novice like me can do it! When I get my first outfit photos up with beach waves, I will point it out so you can see the difference! I am still working on using the right hair product to make the waves stay. They seem to fall out after fifteen minutes without product. I guess I cannot get away without using product in my hair! Boo!

Can I just tell you how addicted to this body butter I have become?! Colleen Rothschild is one of my favorite skin care brands. This body butter does not disappoint. It adds the perfect amount of moisture to skin without leaving a film. Love that! The honey vanilla scent is warm, without being too sweet; perfect for the fall season! I might go through this jar unusually fast! Highly recommend!!

OK, my daughter filled me in on Glossier. It’s a really popular brand with the teens. She’s into makeup, so she loves a ton of products by Glossier. I needed to see what the teens were buzzing about, so I indulged in my own piece of Glossier by purchasing this lipstick. It’s a sheer lipstick which leaves just the right amount of color on my lips. My only complaint is that it is not smooth going on. In fact, it’s a little difficult to apply. Once it’s on, it looks and feel great; it’s the application process which is a little odd. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Now, you might be wondering why I placed two pairs of earrings in this photo. haha, Well, I couldn’t make a box shaped photo with just three beauty products, so I threw in some cute earrings Baublebar sent me for the fall season. These are actually from their Target line, and super affordable. I can’t wait to wear them this season, so watch for some upcoming outfits paired with these baubles!

Pleated skirts for fall 2019

pleated skirts fall 2019 sneakers with a skirt casual pleated skirt

wearing: sunglasses / square hoop earrings / lipstick / black puffy sleeve top (under $100) / green printed, pleated skirt (under $100) / nail polish / PVC tote / Gucci sneakers /

There is nothing like a pleated skirt to get me twirling on the street, in public! haha

When I first spotted this asymmetrical hem, pleated skirt, I was hooked. Not only was it priced well under $100, it had an asymmetrical hemline which set it apart from all the other pleated skirts for fall 2019 in stores right now.

Pleated skirts were huge a few seasons ago, and for the fall 2019 season, they’re back! I love a good pleated skirt because they offer a soft a-line silhouette which is flattering on almost anyone. They are also easy to dress up or down. This skirt will look amazing later in the season with high heel booties. Of course at fashion week, I took the comfortable route, and paired it with these walkable sneakers.

Can I give this top a shout-out too? It’s priced well under $100 and it’s the perfect black top for the fall season. It goes with anything-because it’s black, haha. It also boats on-trend puff sleeves which are a must this autumn. I can’t wait to wear it with everything in my closet! Well, all my bottoms of course, can’t pair it with any tops 😉 haha

A touch of western at New York Fashion Week

nyfw street style new york street style western trend fall 2019

wearing: hoop earrings / lipstick / sunglasses / puff sleeve blouse / gold bangle bracelet / nail polish / black satchel / dark wash denim skirt / brown cowgirl boots /

One of the ongoing trends since last year is western inspiration. This is a trend which has done well on the streets, and is showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, designers still incorporated western touches for the spring 2020 season on the runways of New York during fashion week.

The runways featured cowgirl hats, puff sleeves, prairie dresses, and ruffles. While it wasn’t as dominant for spring 2020 as it was on the fall 2019 runways, the western theme was still going strong.

So of course I wanted to touch on this trend for one of my outfits during New York Fashion Week! I fell in love with these little cowgirl boots when I spotted them over the summer, and they turned out to be a good footwear choice. They were very comfortable to wear to the shows, and added a fun, sassy touch to my ensemble. This denim skirt was also fun and had a western vibe to it, along with this puff sleeve top. It was a fun look!

This skirt can easily be paired virtually anything throughout the fall season. When winter hits, it will look great with boots and a sweater. Score on versatility!

I was obsessed with this top when I first spotted it earlier in August. It was one of the first fall pieces I purchased, and this outfit was designed around the top. It will be fun to wear with jeans on casual days too during the autumn season.

Everything in my suitcase for New York Fashion Week this season was purposely purchased to incorporate into my existing closet, as well as to mix and match. I really wanted to create a fall wardrobe this year, instead of buying single outfits. It’s a great way to mix-and-match, and also save money!

When I worked for Ann Taylor back in the 90’s, we were trained in wardrobing. It was the central theme of how we chose our designs, and how we educated our clientele. We wanted everyone to create a wardrobe they could mix and match, as well as add on to year after year. I have strayed from that concept over time, but as I get older, I am going back to my roots and working on wardrobing, rather than buying cute outfits which cannot be incorporated into my wardrobe. I hope you find some mix and match inspiration in this too!
