I’m so excited about these new Superfood products from Elemis! As you know, I am a huge fan of Elemis skin care products. Their Marine cream is my holy grail, go-to cream for daytime skin care. So, when Elemis sent me their new skin care products from the Elemis Superfood collection, I was thrilled!

The new additions to the Superfood skin care collection include two masks, one exfoliator, and a fabulous mist which will be perfect for the upcoming warm weather season. I love using a mist after I have been out in the sun, and when my skin is unusually dry. This new Elemis Superfood Kefir-Tea Mist will be a life-saver for dry skin this spring and summer!

There are two new masks and an exfoliator in the Superfood collection. The Elemis Superfood Blackcurrant Jelly Exfoliator is a fabulous mask for leaving your skin feeling smooth and clean. It’s really gentle, and smells like a jelly sandwich. Yum!

The Elemis Superfood Berry Boost mask absorbs excess oil, which is perfect for my oily skin. It too smells like a jelly sandwich. I’m getting hungry! haha.

Lastly, the Elemis Superfood Vital Veggie Mask brightens skin. This is the perfect mask for refreshing your skin when you are tired or dehydrated. It really freshens up your face!

What I love about the Elemis Superfood skin care collection is that it is made with sustainably-sourced, organic, natural ingredients. They use pre-biotics which fuel and feed your skin’s microbiome; helping to keep your skin healthy and fresh. The vegan-friendly ingredients are filled with nutrients, vitamins, and minerals your skin craves. It’s like food for your skin. Love that!

Winter 2019 skin care routine

skin care over 40

from left: hand cream / eye cream / face cream / neck cream /

Winter is here! This means cold weather, drying indoor heat, wind, and dry skin. When my skin is dry, I try to keep my skin care routine simple so that my pores are not loaded up with junk. By using a small amount of the right products, I can keep winter dry skin at bay, and keep my skin looking as normal as possible.

First off, these pictures are not perfect. That is because I photographed products which I currently use. These are not pictures of products I have not opened yet, or not tried yet; these are my go-to skin care products for the winter! Some are new, and one I have been using for over fifteen years.

Skin care over 40

genx skin care over 40

Let’s face it, this GenX mother of three needs quality skin care over 40. That means my skin is over 40 years old; um, did I really just type that? Inside my head I am still 39 😉 anyhoo. . .

When you are over 40, or even under 30, or 20, it is important to take care of your skin. See that neck cream in the photo above? I have been going through one jar of it every six months for the last fifteen years. I started using this neck cream when I was in my late 20’s, and I have not tried anything else; I love it! Not to brag or anything. . . but. . .my neck looks pretty for a GenX gal. Just sayin’

If you are in your 20’s, snag this neck cream; and if you are over 30, over 40, over 50, etc. I promise it is worth every penny, and you will love, love love it!

The Elemis face cream has become an addiction of mine over the past two years. Their PR team sent it to me originally, and I threw it into my NYFW suitcase shortly after receiving the PR package. It was a February fashion week when the temperatures can dip below zero, and dry air was at it’s peak. I was thrilled to have Elemis in my arsenal! I am hooked, and have been using it everyday since. I especially love it during the dry months, and in the winter. I’m on my fourth jar of it, and pretty soon I will need to buy a fifth jar! It’s so good. I cannot imagine using any other face cream when the air is dry. It adds the right amount of moisture while providing the anti-aging power my over 40 skin needs. Ugh, did I just admit to being over 40 again? I’m 39. . . 39 ya hear! (only in my head, a-hem)

Estee Lauder’s eye cream is more of a gel-cream. I started using it earlier this year and have found it works really well when the air is dry. I love how my under-eye skin is reacting to it this season. It really is adding moisture without adding shine or other problems to my skin. Also, my fine lines seem diminished; so I am hooked!

I just started using Colleen Rothschild’s hand cream a few months ago. I have noticed I need less hand cream applications during the day since I started to use it. This hand cream has really helped my hands a lot! I only need it in the morning, and before bed. No amount of house cleaning, and hand washing, can break the seal this hand cream creates. I think it must be repairing my skin, because my hand skin is not getting as dry as it used to. Not sure this will work for everyone, but for me, I am addicted and hooked for life! I suggest trying it if your hands get dry!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2018

Breast Cancer is the second largest killer of women in the United States behind heart disease. It’s something we are still searching for a cure for. Many women would be hard-pressed to admit that breast cancer hasn’t affected them in some way, shape, or form, during the course of their lifetime. I know several women who have suffered from breast cancer in their 40’s; and one woman in her early 30s.

My grandmother died of breast cancer when my mom was nine years old. She was sick for five years, and my mom, as a young child, had to endure the pain of watching her mother slowly die. I wouldn’t wish this pain on anyone. It has affected my mom her whole life, and she has never fully recovered from the pain. This is why I find breast cancer so scary, and it is why I feel it is extremely important that we try and support the fight to find a cure.

Whether you support an organization that promotes awareness or research; any type of support helps us in the fight to find a cure. Breast Cancer Awareness is important because it educates people. Through education, women know how to self examine, and understand the importance of annual mammograms. Early detection is key in surviving this ugly disease.

Of course, any type of research towards finding a cure is vital in the fight against breast cancer; or any type of cancer for that matter. The more we raise awareness, and the more we help the research community, the closer we get to finding a cure for breast cancer.

I love finding products which donate  a percentage of sales to breast cancer research or awareness groups. If I need something, why not purchase the item knowing a percentage of what I spend will go for a cause I believe in? Elemis skin care is my go-to, so this travel kit is something I need for traveling, or for my gym bag. I love that something I would have bought anyway will benefit the fight against breast cancer. I am also a huge fan of Bobbi Brown lipsticks, and Estee Lauder’s Night Repair. These are products I always have in my beauty bag, so why not buy the pink versions which help the fight? Love!

If you don’t need anything right now, or you aren’t shopping for the holidays quite yet, I beg you to donate to your favorite breast cancer awareness and/or research charity. Even if you only have $1 to give, that will help. Just think, what if everyone in the United States gave just $1 towards the fight against breast cancer. That would raise about $325.7 million for the fight against breast cancer. Amazing right?

I also love what Chico’s corporation is doing in the fight against breast cancer. You can read about it here.
