Over the 4th of July weekend, my husband and I went to The Mountain Winery in Saratoga, California, to see Foreigner perform. They were so amazing!

We started the evening with dinner. Our table was perfect. We sat on the Chateau deck overlooking the valley at The Mountain Winery. The view was amazing! After dinner, we watched the opening band, The Bad Jones, perform. They were so awesome! I have a new band to add to my list of favorites!

The highlight of the night was Foreigner’s performance. Although none of the original members were on stage, the current line-up is incredibly talented; and they put on a great show! It was fun to see them moving around the stage; and the lead singer went into the audience several times! It was such a great performance!

The Mountain Winery is one of my favorite places to go for a date night with my husband. We usually get the “Ultimate Night Out Package” which includes VIP parking, a three course dinner, and close-to-the-stage seats. It really is the ultimate night out! Love!

The summer concert series at The Mountain Winery is held in the summer months when the weather is perfect. We only had a rain incident once, and that was last year when we saw Huey Lewis and the News.

When it comes to my Mountain Winery Concert outfit I always put something together which is comfortable, lightweight, and easy to move to the music in. This outfit was perfect! We snapped these pictures at home before heading out to the concert. I didn’t want to lug my big ‘ol DSLR to the concert.

If you are local to the Bay Area, or traveling to the area, definitely check out The Mountin Winery for a fun concert this summer. You can learn more about them at MountainWinery.com.

If Foreigner was before your time, and you like rock ‘n roll, check them out on iTunes. You might fall in love! Also check out The Bad Jones, they are an amazing rock group too! Love them!

Lastly, if you are Chloe fan like me, my favorite little going-out-at-night bag is on sale! You can find it online here.

Summer prairie skirt

summer prairie skirthow to wear a prairie skirt for summer chloe hudson styled for summerlong maxi skirt for summer layered summer necklaces

There is something about a prairie skirt for summer which not only fits into fashion’s current 1970s influence, it is ubiquitous with warm weather. Perhaps it is the prairie skirt’s overall style; the casual tiers, the flowing silhouette, which embody the comfortable, casual vibe of summer clothing. I love it!

Every summer I seem to reach for one prairie skirt which blends well with my seasonal mood. This season, I have been in a neutral color palette mood; and this prairie skirts fits right in by being a classic shade of navy. OK, navy isn’t exactly a true neutral, but it works like a neutral, so I give it a pass 😉

I love the maxi length of this prairie skirt. It has a bohemian vibe which also fits my current fashion mood. It can easily be dressed up with wedges, as I have done, or worn casually with flat espadrilles, sandals, or flip flops. I love how this skirt can be ultra casual, or dressy casual. That’s very me!

As we move into fall, the 1970s influence from the runways will remain strong throughout the season. While certain influences from the 1990s will creep into fashion, such as choker necklaces, lug soles, and loafer pumps, the overall vintage vibe will remain 1970s. Since these are styles I love, I am already trying to integrate some fall trends into my current summer wardrobe. If you are curious about what the fall trends from the runways are, you can read more about it here.

Which trends are influencing your personal style this season?

Boho-chic will release your inner hippie

summer pants under $10 silver circle chokerhm summer pantshow to channel your inner hippiesmall chloe faye in blacksuede fringe vest for summer

Pictured: Earrings: Ippolita / Sunglasses: Chanel / Lipstick: c/o Dolce & Gabbana Dolce Rosa / Necklace: sold out, also love SAVE or SPLURGE  / Vest: Free People (on major sale!) / Tee: H & M / Ring: Kendra Scott / Nail Polish: Chanel Cavaliere / Handbag: Chloe / Pants: H & M / Shoes: TopShop

Have you ever wondered how to release your inner hippie? I’m not sure how to do it in a theoretical sense, but I know how to release my inner hippie from a fashion standpoint! Peace 😉

As the 1970s trend matures, the hippie look, or boho-chic look, is maturing with it. Designers have shown boho-chic looks on the runways, adorned their designs with fringe, and have offered an anti-establishment vibe in their collections for the past several seasons. Since this trend is showing no sign of slowing down as we head into fall, it is perfect to wear now.

Lately, I have felt the urge to really push my own style envelope. I grew up in Marin County, which is arguably the most liberal pocket of the country. As a child, I was surrounded by aging hippies. I saw hippie vans, men with long hair, protesters, and the 1960s refusing to die despite it being the 1980s. Due to this environment, I find something nostalgic, and calming, about the boho-chic look.

Although I am far from being a hippie, I absolutely love the boho-chic look! I love fringe, loose clothing, long silhouettes, and natural hair. Perhaps inside my conservative persona, there is an inner hippie trying to break out!

This outfit feels good, and it makes me feel tall. I love feeling tall! Especially since I am short. Ha! I love the weight of this vest, it feels cool; and I love how it moves. I cannot wait to pair it with jeans, cut-offs, and long skirts this summer season. It will also flow well into the fall season.

If you want to release your inner hippie through the boho-chic look, why not try this vest as your summer go-to topper? It definitely adds a little bit of hippie to any ensemble. You can find this vest (on major sale!) online here.

I also need to give a shout-out to these pants. They are super comfortable! Plus, they were under $10. How fabulous is that!? I love the print; it is very boho, which is the perfect look when you are trying to bring out your inner hippie. They are also perfect to wear as a swimsuit cover-up at the beach, or with a tank top on a hot summer day. They will transition easily into fall when paired with a long sleeve tee, or lightweight sweater. Love!
