Over the past month it has been  really cold! That is why this is the perfect time of year to plan a resort or cruise getaway. Since it is not quite spring, and summer was several months ago, packing for a resort getaway could be a problem! Thankfully the resort 2015 season is in full swing and Zinke has a fabulous collection of swimwear and cover-ups to make that warm weather getaway a fun and fabulous trip out of the cold and into the warm!

I absolutely adore this swimsuit cover-up by Zinke. I picked it out back in September when I was at fashion week in New York and got a sneak peek at Zinke’s resort 2015 collection. The cut-out is cute and offers a peek at a one-piece swimsuit. It is also on trend; making this cover-up ideal for walking from the beach or pool into a shop or restaurant without feeling half-dressed. Love that!

These pictures were taken when the wind was out of control! My hat kept blowing off and the skirt on my Zinke cover-up was blowing all over the place. I was afraid the cover-up would blow-up from the wind but it was great at only ballooning and not revealing what was underneath. In short, it kept me modest and covered-up! I am looking forward to wearing my Zinke cover-up at summer pool parties and future pool/beach vacations.

Beach bags for summer 2014

One of the necessities for summer 2014 is a fabulous beach bag! When the sandy beach calls, the last thing you want to do is bring your prized designer tote to the beach where it can be bleached by sun, filled with sand, get wet; or who knows what?! Beach days call for a beach tote which is playful and reflective of the fun times that can be had while playing on the sand, in the water, and around a beach town.

There are so many things to look for in the perfect beach tote. The main features a beach tote needs for the summer season is to be sturdy, roomy, easy to wear over the shoulder (never know when you need to free up your hands for a boogie board, surf board, cooler, etc.), colorful, and lightweight. For summer 2014, there are many beach bags on the market which fill these needs. Since this is the case, it is time to start looking for a pattern, print, color combination, and style which fits your personality; and your hot-off-the-runway beach-wear!

For summer 2014, beach bags are being shown with classic nautical stripes, in bright colors, clear PVC, with playful prints, catchy sayings and in timeless straw. Since beach bag styles for summer are a little bit different than the trends we saw on the runways, they are not in line with the trends we are seeing in swimwear and beachwear for the summer 2014 season.

When wearing beachwear or swimwear in graphic prints, stripes and with sporty inspiration, look for a solid colored beach bag, clear PVC, or one with a solid background and kitschy saying in one color. This way the beach tote will stand on its’ own without competing with your overall ensemble.

If you are going for a classic, all-black look on the beach, or a brightly colored ensemble in solid hues, look for a beach bag with stripes, a playful print or straw. This will add dimension to your solid hued look and make your beach bag a focal point in your overall look. Love that!

One-piece swimsuits for summer 2014

One-piece swimsuits are a must for the summer months. While a bikini may look amazing on the beach, one-piece swimsuits are more practical and allow for carefree water-play. Plus, with so many amazing trends in one-piece swimwear this summer 2014 season, you may find yourself reaching for your one-piece and leaving your two-piece in the dresser drawer!

One-piece bathing suits for summer 2014 are reflecting the trends we saw on the spring/summer 2014 runways in New York. For the summer, one-piece bathing suits are being shown in retro styles, sport inspired, with cut-outs, sheer panels and in graphic prints; all hot apparel trends from the runways. Love that!

If you have found gravitating towards sheer panels, cut outs, sport inspired, graphic prints or retro styles in your apparel during the spring months, you are in luck! You can convert those spring trends in your summer swimwear wardrobe and rock them on the beach, by the pool, at the water park, kayaking, canoeing and more! Imagine all the places you need to wear a swimsuit and will look like you just walked off the catwalk in New York.Work it!

In addition to reflecting the runway trends from New York, one-piece bathing suits for summer 2014 are also showing a few distinct silhouettes this season. Instead of the classic tank suit, one-piece bathing suits are being shown with one strap, retro halter tops, low hip cut-outs, and more coverage than we have seen in recent years. Thank goodness swimwear did not pick up on the ultra high hip from the 1980’s! (Especially since sport-inspiration is a trend from the late 1980’s and early 1990’s!!!) But beware, that style has been spotted in gala attire for summer 2014 season, fingers crossed it does not hop over into swimwear for 2015. That would be one trend to stay away from. It did not look good in the 80’s, so there is no way it will look good now!
