Spring nail polish season is here! The nail polish colors for spring 2025 reflect the colors of the season, and of the year. So, sit tight! We have a fun and cheery season of nails ahead of us! Love this!
For the spring 2025, we saw various color groups on the runways in New York, London, Paris, and Milan. While some cities showed more medium colors, others went the pastel route. When it comes to nail polish, pastels are the color group of choice in addition to shades of Mocha and lucky red.
When it comes to pastels, spring nail polish for 2025 is being shown in mint green, pink, light blue, and peach. These colors are also popular in apparel with the addition of soft yellow. That being said, we are not seeing yellow nail polish, just clothing and handbags.
In addition to pastels, spring 2025 nail polish is also showing up in shades of Mocha with darker hues such as chocolate brown being popular. Also watch for lucky red as a timeless hue.
My favorite colors for the spring 2025 season when it comes to nail polish are mint green and light pink. Love! Of course, I do get into a brown mood from time to time, so you will see me switching it up this season! Which spring 2025 nail polish trend is your favorite?
It is no secret that the one and only IT bag of the moment is no longer a thing. In present day, the IT bag of the moment is more of a style, silhouette and vibe. We are no longer pressured into carrying the one and only IT bag of the moment, from the only brand of the moment, while shunning everything else on the market. That era was so exhausting.
What is currently hot on the streets is the anonymous handbag, as well as styles which include the hobo handbag, slouchy bucket bags, belted satchels, moon shaped bags, mini shoulder bags, suede, and neutral hues. But is this enough for designers who have grown accustomed to trying to make the next IT bag happen? Sorry guys, not really sure it’s going to happen.
In the past few years, there has been a series of unfortunate events, so to speak. There have been a handful of scandalous advertising campaigns and unsavory behavior by designers or creative directors at a slim sampling of design houses. There have also been manufacturing and pricing scandals which have painted many high-end designers in an unfavorable light. In addition to this, consumers have grown tired of always chasing the next big IT bag. There has been a conscious move towards less consumption, and products with lasting power. How much lasting power does an IT bag have? Well, in some circles, one season at best.
This isn’t to say there is something wrong with the IT bag itself. This is more to say that instead of searching for the sold-out bag carried by all the hot, of-the-minute celebrities and socialites, handbag fans have gone out on their own. Fashionistas are not long searching for what a celebrity or high-profile socialite is carrying. Instead, they are searching for a high-quality handbag at a not-so-crazy price-point. Something they can carry for more than one season, and possibly even for years. The investment handbag is having a moment.
Investment handbags can be interpreted in different ways. Some see them as handbags which hold their value or rise in resale value. Others see an investment handbag as cost-per-wear or length of ownership. Whichever version of handbag investing you prefer, there is no wrong answer.
Despite this trend of seeking out high quality, anonymous handbags, designers are putting their feet down and trying to bring back the IT bag. Instead of coming up with something new, or cleaning up their tarnished images, they are bringing back styles which enjoyed IT bag status ten to twenty years ago. Do we really need these bags in our lives again? Probably not. This re-issue trend is actually exploiting one of the reasons consumers are seeking quality handbags over logos and designer names. The quality.
The reason many handbags became IT bags in the past was because they offered high quality materials and craftsmanship. In addition, they offered a style which appealed to the masses. As quality goes down, and prices go up, these re-issue IT bags no longer have the high-quality sparkle they once had. Instead, they serve as a reminder of what was lost; high quality worth the four-digit price tag. Now, they cost twice as much with lower quality materials and craftsmanship. Can designers save the IT bag this way? Can they revive it by serving up an inferior product imitating one from yesteryear? I think not. So, what is the solution? Do we need the return of the IT bag? Or should we keep on pursuing the quality and value afforded to us by the anonymous handbag.
Handbags are getting softer, and even more anonymous than last year! As we move into 2025, the IT bag is unrecognizable and will force people to ask you what you are carrying. Love this!
Many brands and designers have been exposed for over-charging for their handbags. This has created an even bigger backlash towards logos and handbag styles which are recognizable. Even if a bag does not have a logo, but is easily named by one glance, it is over and out. This has created a vacuum which is elevating less expensive handbags, as well as everyday brands and emerging designers to the forefront of the IT bag world.
The biggest trends in handbags are silhouettes, quality of materials, and craftsmanship. Look for strong bags which can withstand your lifestyle. Also look for strong stitches and flawless craftsmanship. Surprisingly, you can find these bags for under $1000, under $500, and even under $200! All of the bags featured above are under $1000. Love that!
So, as you find your anonymous handbag for the winter season, as well as the entirety of 2025, there are a few silhouettes you will want to focus on.
Moon Shaped Bags: The moon shaped bag is still going strong in 2025. A derivative of the hobo handbag, the moon shaped bag can also double as a mini shoulder bag; another emerging trend in the new year.
Slouchy Bucket Bags: This trend is staying put. If you already have one, fabulous! If not, invest in one for the new year. It is a great “everything” bag as well as an alternative to the tote. The ones featured above are under $200. Love!
Suede: This soft fabrication is continuing well into 2025. Since soft is the fabric type of the moment, suede fits right in. Love that!
Belted Satchels: Satchels and east/west totes are getting belted. You will be hard-pressed to not see this style in stores and on the street. My favorite is the one featured above, but they are everywhere. This style can be structured or slouchy, depending on your mood.
Small Shoulder Bags: The mini shoulder bags, and baguettes, of the early 2000’s are back. If you have a vintage one, perfect! Pull it out of storage and rock it this year. If not, there are plenty in stores to choose from. I happen to love this one.
Boxy Bags: Small, boxy totes are a great alternative to regular totes, buckets, and satchels. They have a casual vibe and anonymous look. My next handbag will be this one!
There you have it! The anonymous handbag styles to rock on the streets this winter 2025 season, as well as throughout 2025. Love that!
Have a fabulous day, and thanks for stopping by!
XOXO Cathy
