Now that the fall/winter 2013/2014 runway shows have ended, we have a snapshot into the upcoming trends for the cool weather season. This makes investment shopping an easier job as we head out into the shops for the spring 2013 season. One of the largest purchases a Fashionista can make for the spring season is a new handbag! Therefore, it is important to look for a handbag which will not only be fabulous for the spring 2013 season, but will work perfectly for the fall 2013 season as well.

The fall 2013 runways gave us small and medium sized handbags in rich autumn hues, deep winter colors and bright shades of cobalt blue, emerald green, yellow and red. With this color palette in mind, fall handbags from the runway were structured yet made with soft fabrications. The silhouettes included shoulder bags, clutches for both daytime and evening, hobo handbags and satchels.

With these runway trends in mind, we know that for spring 2013 we can find bright colors, we may find some autumn hues, and the size of the handbag is perfectly in line with the current season. Hobo handbags have not been in style for a few seasons, so this is a silhouette shoppers may easily find on sale! Love that! What better way to wear a new trend for fall than with a great deal!

Satchels, shoulder bags and clutches have been hot for the past three years, therefore, these styles are easy to find on store shelves right now. The most important factor in choosing a shoulder bag, satchel or clutch for spring 2013 which will offer longevity into fall/winter 2013/2014 is the color.

Look for handbags in neutral hues such as black, ivory, white, beige and shades of brown as well as bright hues. These will be the easiest handbags to find during the spring season which will carry into early 2014. Spring 2013 is here! This means the weather is getting warmer and dress season is about to begin! With the A-line skirt being the ultimate silhouette for spring 2013, and the pencil skirt being a close second, there are several types of fabulous dress options for the spring 2013 season.

Finding a dress which is on trend for spring 2013 will be easy this warm weather season. There seems to be something out there for everyone. Bright colors, neon hues and vivid pastels offer plenty of color options for everyone. The A-line skirt, and alternative pencil skirt, offer two popular silhouettes which work with almost every body type. Love this!

For spring 2013, dresses are being shown in solid colors, color blocking, prints and patterns. Necklines are high; meaning the less décolleté the better. Look for crew-necks, shallow V-necks and 1960’s boat-necks. 

Dress lengths are varied depending upon the silhouette of the skirt. For A-line dresses, look for hemlines ranging in length from the mid-thigh to the middle of the knee. For pencil skirt dresses, look for 1” above the knee to the middle of the knee. A third dress style to consider as an alternative is the still-popular maxi-dress which is casual, flowing and hits at the ankles. This is a style from spring 2012 which is still relevant in spring 2013 and may already be in your closet! Love that!

Spring 2013 fashion trends: ankle strap mules

Ankle straps have been dominating the runways in Paris, New York, Milan and London over the past few seasons, and for spring 2013, the shoe style has found popularity on the ultimate heel height of the season; the mule.

Mules are traditionally slip on shoes with a 1-2” heel. For spring 2013, the mule takes on a new look with the addition of the ankle strap. This is actually a very practical addition to the mule; it is well known among Fashion-savvy shoe fans that mules are hard to walk in because they simply fall off!
