Ankle strap shoes for fall 2012

There are so many shoe trends for the fall 2012 season, and many of them are modern takes on old classics. One of the fresh twists to a timeless shoe style, which is hot for fall, happens to be the ankle strap! Loathed by some due to the fact that ankle straps can shorten the look of one’s leg, the ankle strap is a classic shoe feature which can be found in many different forms over the years.

Ankle straps have faded in and out of fashion over the past several decades and have shown themselves in the forms of bow-ties, ribbons, buckle straps, single straps and double straps as well as large pieces of leather or fabric. For the fall 2012 season, the ankle strap is mainly found as a solid piece of leather, faux leather, patent or fabric. The strap is normally ultra-thin, although thicker “ankle cuffs” have also been spotted for fall; there is no medium size ankle strap for fall 2012.

The ankle straps shown on shoes this season offer a standard buckle free from embellishments and “bling.” The wider ankle straps or “ankle cuffs” offer an avant-garde vibe while the thinner ankle straps this season are flirty and lighthearted.

For those of us with short legs, the thinner ankle straps are more flattering than the thicker ones since ankle straps can shorten the look of the leg. Lighter colors are also more flattering for short or thick legs. If worn with dark tights, or another type of leg covering, dark colored ankle straps and thick ankle straps can easily be worn by a short leg since the color of the leg is tonal.

Glittering and sparkling shoes for fall 2012

Shoes have become full of sparkle and glitter over the past few years. The trend began when Fashionistas everywhere flocked to Christian Louboutin’s famous glitter pumps. Now, for fall 2012, almost every shoe designer on the planet has a version of the glitter pump and this sparkling shoe is at the top of its’ game.

There once was a time when every fashion-savvy lady owned a pair of basic black pumps, Manolo Blahnik Mary Jane’s and nude high heels. Although a trend, a long-standing one at that, the glitter pump has become a staple in the wardrobe of every Fashionista.

The glitter pump can be found in every high heel style imaginable for the fall 2012 season. Glitter pumps for fall are being spotted in platforms, flat-soled pumps, pointed toe pumps, sandals and more. In addition to glitter, the sparkling shoe trend has extended to embellishments such as crystal and shining fabrics.

While the glitter and sparkling shoe trend is not new, this trend is at the top of the bell curve. Sparkling shoes are being worn for almost every occasion imaginable, almost saturating the street. Shoe mavens are being seen wearing glitter pumps with everything from jeans to cut-offs to a formal gown.

It should be interesting to see if glittering, sparkling shoes remain at the forefront of shoe fashion for much longer. Although, since many women love anything that glitters, and everything that glitters is like gold, this trend may last longer than your average shoe trend. Only time will tell.

In the meantime, we found a few fabulous sparklers for fall and assembled them into the Polyvore set below. Hope you love it!

T-Strap shoes for fall 2012

There are many shoe trends for fall 2012, but the most demure shoe trend for the cool weather season happens to be the t-strap. T-Straps for the fall 2012 season are anything but conservative. Shoe designers have delved into their avant-garde imaginations and created twists on traditional t-straps as well as designs which are anything but understated.

The t-strap shoe for fall offers embellishments, rocker-chic studs, girly crystals, color blocking, metallic trim and more. Plain and solid colored t-strap shoes need not apply for the fall season; their place is in storage.

T-Strap shoes are the focal point of an ensemble for the fall 2012 season and should be paired with neutral or solid colored outfits. The idea this season is not to have the t-strap compete with garments or other accessories; rather, t-strap shoes are statement making pieces in and of themselves. This is fabulous news for shoe lovers who love to assemble their wardrobe around a shoe purchase

T-Straps for fall 2012 are also being shown in new ways. Instead of a classic strip of fabric going down the top of the foot, many designers have opted for curvy shapes, geometric pieces and twisted double straps in order to create the modern t-strap. These are not t-strap shoes which would pass a uniform check. The t-strap shoes we are seeing for fall are fun, light-hearted and pieces of art.

We found a few stand-out, statement making t-strap shoes for fall and assembled them together into the Polyvore set. Happy shopping and stay fabulous
