Spring 2013 color report from Pantone has arrived

Pantone released the spring/summer 2013 color report today and it has given Fashionistas everywhere a sneak peek into the ten hottest hues for the upcoming spring 2013 season.

The fresh color palette is slightly softer than it was for spring 2012 and it appears that any shade of blue will be hot for 2013. After all, earlier this year Pantone declared that blue would be the new black for 2013; according to this chart, it will be!

Since Pantone’s predictions are based on New York designer preferences, it does appear that the soft pastels from Paris in 2012 have traveled to our side of the globe and mixed in with our bright hues from 2012. The softer colors are still cheery and bright; just not as neon as originally forecasted.

What do you think of the spring 2013 color palette? Do you have a favorite hue?

The metallic trend continues for fall 2012

Metallics are hot for fall 2012 and they have been hot for the past few years. Metallic fabrications, embellishments and touches have been of-the-moment for the past few years and are showing no sign of stopping as we head into the fall season.

Each season silver, pewter, yellow gold and rose gold have been popping up as important parts of the seasonal color spectrum. While each metallic hue takes center stage every season, all of them are relevant and on trend. For fall 2012, yellow gold is the hottest metallic color; but this does not mean the other shades should be put into storage-keep all metallics front and center in your closet!

As with previous seasons, metallics are a great way to spice up a neutral ensemble or add some fire to a colorful outfit. Metallics can be found everywhere on accessories, garments and fingertips! Metallics have also found a small place in eye make-up for the fall season; but beware-metallic eye make-up is appropriate for evenings only while nail polish is appropriate for all occasions and times of the day J

When wearing metallics this fall season, look for one metallic statement piece for each outfit; no head-to-toe metallics!

This is one trend which you may be able to find in your closet from a previous season. If not, there are many fabulous options on store shelves for metallics this fall 2012 season. What is your favorite way to wear metallics? Are you a gold, silver, pewter or rose gold girl? Happy shopping and stay fabulous

Red for fall 2012 is hotter than ever

Red is a classic color which always has a place in fashion. Although the fashion world can look forward to shades of red for the holiday 2012 season, red has decided to become a bit more prominent at an earlier date this year; that’s right, red is hot for fall.

Red hot red is on fire for the cool weather season and it is not just darker shades of red such as burgundywhich are making an impact this autumn season. Bright and fiery red is also on trend for fall 2012; and the bright hue is making no apologies.

Red is popping up everywhere and on everything for the fall season. There are bright red lips, red fingertips, red accessories, red apparel and even red jewelry. This outgoing hue is being shown both alone and as part of digital prints, color blocking and as an accent color.

Since red is a classic color which pops up every year for the holiday season, it is one color which should be easy to find in your closet at home. Look for bright red shades which can stand alone or be color blocked for a modern update.
Not that into red but feel like rocking the trend anyway? Red nail polish is an easy way to wear red in an understated fashion and also red gemstone jewelry makes a great investment while making a small statement.

What is your favorite way to wear red? Is this a color you love and relate to? Or would you prefer to stick to fall 2012’s darker red hued family; shades of burgundy? Whichever way you choose to wear red, you are sure to be noticed and to make a fabulous, fashionable statement.
