Spring is in full swing, this means we all need to make sure we have current IT bags within our reach. This spring 2023 season, the handbag trends reflect the overall trends in handbags for the year, making it easy to rotate our handbags from our closets. Love that!

Mini Satchels

The mini satchel is continuing its popularity in the spring 2023 season. This cute little bag offers a top handle and a shoulder strap which you can choose to wear on your shoulder, or cross body. Although, this year, it’s way cooler to wear it on your shoulder.

If you have a mini satchel in your closet from a past season, fabulous! Pull it out from your archives and rock it! If not, look for one in a neutral hue you can wear with anything, such as this black satchel. Love!

Denim handbags

Denim handbags are a hot trend. If you love ultra-trendy looks, this is your bag of the season. If you are more of an investment bag person, then this is a trend to pass on. I love the casual look of the denim handbag. Such a fun trend!

Top handle bucket bags

The classic bucket has a twist this season! Bucket bags with top handles are hotter than hot this season, and they are also a classic style. So, if you want to invest in a bucket with a handle, look for a neutral color or black so it has staying power in your closet. Love that!

Hobo bags

The hobo bag is still going strong! Chances are, you already have one in your closet. If not, go ahead and invest in a clean, chic hobo bag.

Neutral or bright or metallic

Neutral handbags are hot this year, but if you want to mix things up, metallic and ultra bright pastels are hot for spring. Look for bright lilac, neon yellow, bright medium pink, and neon light green. Fire!

Straw handbags

Straw and natural fiber bags are still hot this season. If you have one from last year, you are all set! If not, why not invest in a medium size, straw or natural fiber bag you can wear daily. The tropical vacation vibe is everything this season. Love!

Shoulder bags

Shoulder bags are still going strong. Look for a chic, simple bag in a neutral hue. Classic Chesnut brown is huge this year as well as beige, white and classic black. Love a good investment bag.

Sustainable handbags

It’s cool to be sustainable. After all, you are saving the planet. Love that! Look for handbags made from non-leather, sustainable materials such as this cute little bio tote by Tory Burch. Love it!

Anonymous bags

The golden rule this season is to wear and purchase bags which are anonymous. They can have a single logo which is understated, or stamp of the designer’s name in a small, discreet manner, but no loud logos or bags which shout at you. It’s all about clean lines, and quiet luxury. Those who know, know!

How pretty is this turquoise nail polish from Gucci! I had such a good experience with the Gucci spring 2023 nail polish collection, that I decided to look through their regular collection and see the colors available. This turquoise caught my eye, as I have always loved turquoise nail polish when it is featured for a particular season. This shade did not disappoint!

Dorothy Turquoise by Gucci is a pretty turquoise hue which is perfect for the spring and summer months. It will play well with the spring and summer clothing palettes we are seeing hit store shelves right now. This nail polish is also a great alternative to the neutral hues other designers are putting out for the spring season. If you like fun colors, Gucci is serving them up right now! Love that!

I tested out Gucci Dorothy Turquoise nail polish with one base coat, and two coats of color. As with other Gucci cream nail polishes, it is long lasting and offers ideal color saturation. No streaking! Love it!

3 California road trip ideas

It is the time of year when we all start to plan family vacations. Spring break is fast approaching, and summer vacation is on the horizon. Sometimes we have enough of a break in our schedule to plan a plane trip somewhere and enjoy it for a week, or possibly more, but other times, we have a small break in our schedule and a road trip is the best option for a family vacation.

If you are local to California, and looking for a road trip idea, here are a few, which may seem obvious, but hopefully will spark a road trip idea anyway. If you are from out of state, you can easily fly into one of our airports, rent a car, and enjoy one or more of these spots on your vacation. Feel free to leave your road trip ideas in the comments below!

Napa Valley

One of the most popular road trips in California is heading up to wine country. That being said, you don’t have to go wine tasting to enjoy the Napa Valley. This can be a road trip you enjoy with the entire family, and also as someone who does not drink alcohol.

There are plenty of activities in the Napa Valley the entire family can enjoy such as hiking through the Petrified Forest. Here is my full post on this beautiful destination. Call before you go to ensure they have recovered from the recent storms.

You can also visit the geysers, check out the culinary institute, or enjoy a winery with or without drinking.

Pismo Beach

Pismo Beach is one of the less traveled beaches in California. It is in between Los Angeles and the Bay Area, so for those of us traveling between the two Metropolitain areas, Pismo Beach is a great rest stop for lunch or brunch. That being said, have you ever stayed overnight? If not, then you should! There are fabulous hotels on or near the beach and the beach itself is quite relaxing in the quiet morning hours before the tourists arrive. Even when the tourists arrive, it isn’t too overrun.

In addition to enjoying the beach, you can drive a few minutes to San Luis Obispo and enjoy the hiking trails at Cal Poly SLO. You can check out my post about it here. Poly Canyon Trail is a must-see in the Pismo Beach, SLO area.

Tahoe

Lake Tahoe might be an obvious choice, but it is a place you can visit again and again. So, even if you have already taken a road trip to Tahoe, you might think about going back to see something new. There are too many trails to count, so hiking is always new and exciting. The views from most hiking trails are beautiful and beyond belief, therefore, it is always a breathtaking experience; in addition to the thin air! haha

There are also silver mines close by. These are worth the drive to see in person. We always talk about the gold mining history in California, but the silver mines were here too.

This year, we had record snowfall. This means the Tahoe region may still have snow during spring break and early summer! Grab your sled and get ready to play in the snow! You can build a snowman, make snow angels, have a snowball fight, and just play!

Of course, these are only three ideas. You can always take a road trip to a more obscure location in the state, or head down to Disneyland or Universal Studios for some fun. It is also fun to play tourist and check out all the tourist areas and traps in Hollywood.
