Academy of Art University showed their spring/summer 2014 collection on September 6, 2013 during New York Fashion Week. The show was held in the largest venue at fashion week; the Theater. The runway wrapped around an additional row of seating in the center of the runway. This made it a little difficult for me to see the models walk the runway; especially since I was in the last row towards the photographers pit. This is my excuse for the poor photos

I absolutely adore the fresh visionaries at the Academy of Art University. It is amazing to see how the minds of fashion students are expressing their art through textiles. The fabrics offered texture and appeared on the runway to be extremely high quality. My favorite look on the Academy of Art University runway was the pale blue printed dress you can see in the final walk photo. The sleeves danced gracefully as the model walked the runway and they added to drama to sweet yet daring daytime dress. Love!

I have included the press video from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week below so you too can enjoy this beautiful show and admire the designs. What is your favorite look on the runway?

New York Fashion Week spring/summer 2014!

I arrived at Lincoln Center on Friday, September 6, 2013 and picked up my press pass. It was so exciting to be there! The credential office was across the street from Lincoln Center and was filled with other editors and photographers. I loved seeing the photographers and their huge equipment! Many of the photographers carry multiple suitcases filled with equipment to each show. It was amazing to see how they tote the suitcases easily, without a fuss. I can only imagine how heavy and bulky they must be!

Outside Lincoln Center is a scene in and of itself. There were hundreds of people just hanging around who were not associated with the shows. The people in the courtyard were a combination of tourists, street style photographers and people dressed up and lingering around in the hopes a street style photographer would snap their picture. It was quite an interesting sight to see!

I wore high heels on the first day while I was still fresh. I have to admit, after the first few shows I went back to the hotel and switched to these Rebecca Minkoff flats in black. My feet were very happy to switch to flats, even if they didn’t quite look right with my outfit. Sometimes we have to value comfort over style

Stay tuned! More posts about New York Fashion Week are on their way; including the shows I attended!

Essie “For The Twill Of It” fall 2013 nail polish review

Photo: Essie “For The Twill Of It” nail polish from Essie’s fall 2013 nail polish color collection. Shown with one base coat and two coats of color in direct sun.

Essie’s new fall 2013 nail polish collection offers so many on-trend and fabulous hues for the cool weather season. As a fan of their sparkling line of “LuxEffects” top coats, I decided to give one of Essie’s nail polish colors a try; after all, who can resist a hologram for fall 2013?!

I was happy with how easy Essie applied to my nails. The brush is perfect for making a clean brushstroke on your nail without too much mess spilling outside the nail-bed. “For The Twill Of It” applied quickly and easily without streaking. Love that!

Holograms are a huge trend for fall 2013. With designers such as Rebecca Minkoff creating holographic handbags and shoes for the cool weather season, it was only natural that a nail polish company would follow suit and create spectacular holographic hues. “For The Twill Of It” by Essie has the most amazing colors in it. Every time I turn my hand or view my nail from a different angle I see a thousand different colors. Essie has a winner in “For The Twill Of It!”

Shades of green, blue, red, charcoal, orange and purple appear on my nails every few seconds. “For The Twill Of It” by Essie is one of the most exciting nail polish colors I have tried in a long time; and I love to switch my nail colors every few days!

I used one base coat and two coats of Essie’s “For The Twill Of It” without using a top coat. I only received one small chip on my right pinky after seven days of wearing the nail polish. Chip resistant = love!

Essie’s “For The Twill Of It” is priced at a mere $8 and can be found online here. Happy shopping, and stay fabulous
