For years I have wished I owned the perfect black party suit. There are so many events during the holiday season, as well as throughout the year, when a formal suit would be the perfect attire for the occasion. I was thrilled when L’Wren Scott’s collection for Banana Republic debuted and it included the perfect dressy suit. I have already worn the suit to the San Jose Ballet’s “Nutcracker” and I am looking forward to wearing the suit to many more events this season. In addition to being worn as a suit, the sparkling pencil skirt can be paired with a sequin sweater while the blazer can worn over a silk skirt, trousers or even jeans for a girl’s night out! Love this!

Do you have a special occasion suit? If so, do you find yourself wearing it often?

If you have been following me on Twitter, you may already know that I fell in love with the L’Wren Scott for BR collection which debuted earlier this month. I bought a few dressy pieces, occasion pieces and casual items from the collection. In the above photos you can see two of the casual items I purchased from the line. I love the colors and the fabric is soft and comfortable! Love that!

Also, as you know, the black metal trend is on an upswing. Not only have jewelers and accessories designers been using black metal in their pieces, we are seeing more and more buttons, snaps and other metal in black on apparel. I love the understated nature of black metal and how it works perfectly with the current movement towards the “anonymous” handbag and unrecognizable fashion. Fashionistas are moving towards high quality pieces which do not bear logos and do not scream which designer they are from. Black metal works well with this philosophy as it is understated and blends well with any color combination or metallic hardware.

The new “District” bracelet from Twisted Silver is perfect for rocking the black metal trend. The bracelet is a statement piece on its’ own yet offers an unrivaled, understated elegance which can easily be worn casually, as I am wearing it in the photos above, or worn with dressy dinner/evening attire. Love it!

The new “District” bracelet from Twisted Silver is priced at $40 and can be found online Twisted-Silver.com. Use coupon code INSIDERS for a 15% discount. Happy shopping, and stay fabulous 😉

Silver and black

Photos: Earrings: Kathy Kamei (similar here)/ Lipstick: c/o Laura Mercier Mocha Myth / Top: BCBG (on sale!) / Bracelet: c/o Twisted Silver (use code INSIDERS for 15% off) / Handbag: Chanel (also love SAVE or SPLURGE) / Nail Polish: Chanel Magic / Pants: Gap / Shoes: Manolo Blahnik

The weather has warmed up a little bit here in the San Francisco Bay Area which has allowed me to dress lighter than last week and enjoy a few rays of sunshine. Over the weekend I felt like wearing silver and black when spending time with my family and enjoying holiday activities with the kids. The studded sweater I wore was warm and cozy without being too heavy, which was perfect for the sixty degree weather we enjoyed. I am very thankful I found this sweater on sale at the BCBG store at Santana Row in San Jose!

I am also in love with these silver jeans from the Gap. They are comfortable and I was able to buy them in ankle length. Since I am only 5’4″ the ankle length is perfect. When I purchase regular length jeans or pants I always have to hem them or roll them up. These jeans are an easy way to wear the metallic trend this season, and into spring 2014! I am looking forward to pairing them with other colors both casually and dressy.

Have you been wearing the metallic trend this season? If so, what is your favorite metallic hue?
