JLSJ Rummage Sale

Mark your calenders! The Rummage Sale, also known as “The Greatest Garage Sale on Earth,” is being hosted by the Junior League of San Jose.  The event will be held at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds on Saturday, March 21 from 8 am to 6 pm. There will also be a Community Health & Services Fair from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.  This exciting event will take place in the Expo Hall at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds located at 344 Tully Road, San Jose, CA. Admission is free.

The biannual Rummage Sale is a huge fundraising and community event. There will be high quality rummage at rock bottom prices available for sale. Items for sale include electronics, clothing, toys, furniture, sporting goods, books and more!

Experienced shoppers should arrive before the doors open in order to be one of the first people inside the Rummage Sale. This ensures getting the best pieces. At these prices, everything sells fast so arrive early!

In addition to the Rummage Sale, there will be a community health fair with over thirty-five healthcare and community agencies.  Activities include healthy eating demonstrations, free legal services, tax prep, vision and hearing screening, asthma services, dentistry education and much, much more!

Proceeds from the Rummage Sale go back to the community through the Junior League of San Jose.

As a Sustainer in the Junior League of San Jose, I can tell you first-hand that this is an amazing event. Not only can you purchase high quality rummage at rock bottom prices, but there are community services available and the peace of mind that comes with knowing all of the proceeds go back to the community through the Junior League. Love that!

Menlo Charity Show with Ariat

The Menlo Charity Horse Show was held at Menlo Circus Club in Atherton, California August 4-9, 2014. This beautiful charity event raised much-needed funds for the Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired. The annual event attracted a large number of sponsors, both corporate and individual, who helped make the event a huge success. One of those corporate sponsors is Bay Area based equestrian clothier Ariat.

Famous for their riding boots and technologically advanced clothing, Ariat generously supported the Menlo Charity Horse Show. Ariat is an equestrian clothing brand worn by both Western and English equestrian athletes They design and make boots and clothing equestrian athletes need to be successful in competition as well as during practice. In fact, Arat’s clothing and boots are so popular, many athletes and non-athletes enjoy wearing Ariat’s technologically advanced riding pants, vest, jackets and riding boots for non-horse riding activities too!

Ariat was kind enough to invite me to the Menlo Charity Horse Show as their guest this year. It was a beautiful show where I was able to view both the traditional English competition and the jumpers. The Menlo Charity Horse Show included a delicious buffet lunch and vendor row which included an Ariat shopping booth. It was amazing to be able to see Ariat’s collection up close. The boots are exquisite and I can see why so many people enjoy wearing them off the equestrian field too! Not only are they beautiful to look at, Ariat’s boots are made from the highest quality materials and have an insole which makes you feel like you are walking on a cloud. No sore feet for hard-core athletes! Or anyone who chooses to wear the boots for that matter!

In addition to Ariat’s famous boot collection, their vendor booth was filled with apparel which is ideal for both riding and leisurely day-to-day life. The fabric Ariat uses for their apparel collection is extremely technologically advanced and many pieces include SPF protection, wicking capabilities, and are designed for extreme movement and comfort. Ariat’s cool weather pieces are thin enough to be able to ride in yet warm enough to keep an athlete warm on a cold day.

The Menlo Charity Horse Show was a beautiful event which allowed world-class athletes to compete and win prizes yet contribute to helping raise money for the Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

Saks Fifth Avenue presented Oscar de la Renta’s’ resort 2015 collection on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at a private residence on Lake Tahoe in Incline Village to benefit the League to Save Lake Tahoe. This beautiful fundraising event featured a silent auction, competitive live auction, and a beautiful backdrop of the lake.

Oscar de la Renta’s runway show presented by Saks Fifth Avenue was the highlight of the event. The runway show featured Oscar de la Renta’s resort 2015 collection which was filled with beautiful daytime, evening and gala attire. The color palette included black/white prints, navy/white prints, metallic hues, bright pink, bright yellow, pastel grey, pastel pink and pastel blue. The overall vibe of the show was feminine and playful while maintaining the utmost in sophistication which Oscar de la Renta is known for.

At the conclusion of the event, lucky guests went backstage to pre-order their favorite looks from the Oscar de la Renta’s resort 2015 runway before the public has access to view the collection. Orders were taken by sponsor Saks Fifth Avenue.

It is anticipated that the League of Lake Tahoe raised more money this year than last as evidenced by the successful live auction where guests won auction items by bidding anywhere from $18,000 to $60,000.
