Burgundy sweater for fall

wearing: earrings / sunglasses / burgundy sweater / holiday nail polish / wide leg jeans / belted tote / chocolate brown boots / Pasta: Bolognese from Trattoria Da Vittorio

It was a beautiful fall day in the city! I recently went to San Francisco for a quick meeting and decided not to waste my one-hour drive up there. So, I took my mom and hubby with me and we quickly played tourist after the meeting. It’s always fun to play tourist on a weekday during the off-season when there are less people around.

We drove down the crooked part of Lombard and my husband filmed it for me. You’ll be able to check out the video on Instagram this morning. After our drive, we hit a few other places then went over West Portal for lunch.

I am not sure why we though parking in West Portal would be easy. Quite the contrary. Thankfully, we eventually got lucky and found someone pulling out of a spot. Yay! Parking! If you live in the Bay Area, you know the feeling when you find street parking in the city. Yipee!

Since there was an Italian restaurant near our parking spot, that became our lunch spot. We enjoyed pasta and relaxing after circling for parking.

This burgundy sweater was perfect for the mild fall weather since it isn’t too thick and on the lighter side. Love! It will be perfect to wear throughout the remainder of the fall season and into the holiday and winter seasons. Since it’s not bulky, it is easy to layer under a coat. Love that!

We are headed into the holiday season! This gift-giving season, timeless style and gifts are hotter than hot for the holidays. Love!

This is the season to indulge in that classic, high quality handbag you’ve always been eyeing. Jewelry which transcends season, luxurious suede, cozy sweaters, and vampy holiday nail polish are all indulges we should be giving to ourselves. After all, we cannot forget to give fabulous gifts to ourselves, right? Right! As we shop for others, we should remember ourselves.

My biggest holiday shopping tip is to get it done before Thanksgiving! This way, you can enjoy the holiday season and just concentrate on wrapping up those presents in pretty gift bags and wrapping paper!

This is also the season for warm and cozy fragrances. Think any type of woody scent or sweet gourmand.

Visiting the butterflies

wearing: sunglasses / statement earrings / lightweight jacket / long sleeve tee / classic jeans (old, also love this pair) / nail polish / water bottle / east/west handbag / sneakers (also, also love this pair) /

It’s Monarch Butterfly season! Every year, from mid-October to January, the Monarch Butterflies visit Natural Bridges State Park in Santa Cruz and dazzle us with their beauty.

The butterflies gather on trees and enjoy the natural foliage around the area. Although there were large groups hanging out together on trees, my iPhone camera was too far away to get a good photo. That being said, I was able to get the up-close picture you see above!

Natural Bridges State Park offers an easy hiking trail, made up mostly of a wooden bridge, through the area where the butterflies enjoy gathering. This allows for the perfect view of the butterflies.

The parking lot is conveniently positioned between the butterfly trail and the beach. So, you can do both on the same day without moving your car. Love that!

After we viewed the butterflies, we relaxed on the beach and watched the waves and surfers. The view of the ocean at Natural Bridges State Park is fabulous. If you are local, it is a must-see!

After our visit to the beach, we went to downtown Santa Cruz and enjoyed a delicious meal at El Palomar. The food was top notch, and the service was friendly, fast, and beyond expectations. It’s my new favorite restaurant in Santa Cruz! Love!

So, if you are local or visiting the area, I recommend this fall/winter activity. You will love seeing the butterflies and relaxing on the beach!
