There is something intriguing about mixing edgy, rocker chic studs with feminine, vintage cameos. This is what drove me to pair Twisted Silver’s new “Empire” necklace with my favorite studded fall handbag from Rebecca Minkoff in the above photos.

White coats and jackets for fall 2013

White after Labor Day? For shame! Well, since the millennium, wearing white after Labor Day has become the norm. As this “breaking of a fashion rule” continues over time, wearing white during all four seasons seems normal and, dare we say it? Classic!

Every season there is a new way to wear white. For fall 2013, the ultimate way to wear white is on a jacket or coat. Any shade of white will do including stark white, off-white and winter white. The white topper is a trend which has hit store shelves by storm for the fall 2013 season; but this was not a huge trend on the runways. In fact, one would be hard pressed to find white jackets and coats on the fall/winter 2013/2014 runways in Paris, New York, Milan and London.

The white topper for fall 2013 is a street style trend which buyers picked up on and stocked store shelves in accordance. White jackets and coats are being shown in every style possible including classic pea coats and trendy motorcycle jackets. A white topper is a fresh way to keep cozy when the fog comes in over the mountains or on the bay. It is also the perfect way to stay warm when temperatures dip this winter.

White jackets and coats match pretty much any ensemble you can think of! White may even be more neutral than black! Therefore, this is a great trend to invest in for fall/winter 2013/2014. As summer winds down and our eyes become accustomed to a fall color palette, it can be a challenge to get dressed in the morning! Here in the San Francisco Bay Area we are seeing cool fog in the morning and warm temperatures in the afternoon. This means we need to wear layers!

The maxi-dress looks like a fall piece yet offers lightweight appeal making it perfect for warm summer days. All I need before the fog burns off is my denim jacket! Love that!
