Interview with Christian McCulloch from Dolce & Gabbana beauty

Christian McCulloch was at Saks Fifth Avenue today and I had the honor of interviewing him! McCulloch is Dolce & Gabbana’s National Make-Up Artist who is highly sought-after by fashion-savvy celebrities. He recently did Anne Hathaway’s make-up for a voice-over she was filming and gave her the current, hottest look in beauty on the red carpet; the smoky eye, matte face and nude lips. In order to achieve this look, McCulloch used the “True Monica” collection from Dolce & Gabbana which give her a natural, classic look.

The “True Monica” beauty collection from Dolce & Gabbana was inspired by the designing duo’s current muse, Monica Bellucci. The collection features the perfect eye shadow quad Smoky for the ultimate “Smoky Eye” and three “nude” shades of nail polishGentle, Perfection and Petal; which are described by Christian McCulloch as “the ultimate chic nail color.”

One of the amazing features of Dolce & Gabbana’s eye shadow, pointed out to me by Christian McCulloch, was the fact that you can wet the eye shadow to create a thin eye liner without damaging the eye shadow itself. How fabulous is that! There are so many eye shadow’s out there which are automatically ruined if they become wet; so it is welcome news that Dolce & Gabbana’s eye shadow can become wet and still maintain its’ original state.

Christian McCulloch does the beauty looks for iconic celebrities including Scarlett Johansson, Anne Hathaway, Kate Bosworth, Emma Stone, Michelle Williams, Katie Holmes, Christian Hendricks and Olivia Wilde. Due to this fact, he is the premiere source for the hottest trends in red carpet beauty. The “True Monica” collection from Dolce & Gabbana exemplifies this look with the smoky eye, chic nude nails and soft lips. This is the number one beauty look on the red carpet for 2013!

I love the neutral palette of the “True Monica” collection from Dolce & Gabbana. As a big fan of summer 2013’s prints and bright colors, this beauty collection compliments the current trends without competing with them. Love that!
Christian McCulloch also told me about a new trend in beauty. Over the past several years the “dewy” face has been the “it” look in foundation or skin. There is a new trend towards a matte face. The matte face is the new look in skin and of course there is a new matte foundation by Dolce & Gabbana to suit this trend!

The matte foundation and concealer, which arrived at Saks Fifth Avenue stores in February 2013, offer a matte finish with spf. Love this! There is also a wide array of colors to suit any skin tone; making it the ultimate go-to for any beauty aficionado.

There you have it! The current beauty trends are here. Look for sultry, smoky eyes, sensual nude lips and nails on a matte foundation. Fabulous!

Dolce & Gabbana Shocking nail polish for summer 2013 review

Designing duo Dolce & Gabbana have a new, fabulous nail polish color for summer 2013; “Shocking.” This bright, dark pink hue offers the perfect pink answer to summer’s bright nail polish trend while satisfying the need for pink or red nails.

“Shocking” by Dolce & Gabbana blends well with summer 2013’s bright color palette and adds a little pop of color to neutral ensembles. The dark, bright pink acts as a colorful neutral making it an easy-to-wear hue for the summer 2013 season. Love that!

Dolce & Gabbana “Shocking” lasted for seven days before starting to wear off at the tips. I tested the nail polish with one base coat and two coats of color; no top coat.

Here is a photo of Dolce & Gabbana “Shocking” nail polish in direct sunlight.

How to get the Dolce & Gabbana beauty look from the fall 2013 runway at home

Dolce & Gabbana sent their fall/winter 2013/2014 collection down the Milan Fashion Week runway on February 24, 2013 and gave Fashionistas everywhere something to covet for the upcoming cool weather season. The designing duo took their inspiration from the mosaic of Monreale which was brought to life by Creative Advisor Pat McGrath.

To create the perfect beauty look which complimented the apparel and accessories on the runway, Pat McGrath combined nude tones with dark, provocative accents which resulted in a stunning beauty look for Dolce & Gabbana’s collection.

Here is how to get the look:

The Face

Flawless Base: Apply a mixture of Perfect Luminous and Perfect Matte Liquid Foundations using a softFoundation Brush. Use a small amount of both foundations and apply to the forehead, nose, cheeks and chin. Blend from the central point of the face outward until the foundations are blended seamlessly from the hairline to the jaw.

Conceal: To seal the flawless base, use the Perfect Matte Concealer which will add extra coverage and achieve an illuminated, natural look.

Perfect it!: To finish the face, apply Powder Foundation focusing on the forehead.

The Eyes:

Eye shadow: Start with applying Dolce & Gabbana eye shadow in Desert.

Line the eyes: Line the eyes with Black eyeliner for a deep, mysterious look. For the runway, more depth was added to the eyes with the application of Black Intense glam liner on top of the lash line.

Eyelashes: For the full eyelash look on the runway, use two layers of Intense Eyes mascara

Lips:

To recreate the lips from the Dolce & Gabbana runway, start with the lipliner in Ruby and them combine both the Ultra and Amethyst lipsticks for the perfect, sophisticated “straight-from-the-Milan-runway” look.

Nails:

Dolce & Gabbana showed neutral nails on the Milan Fashion Week runway for fall 2013 with the use of theirNude nail polish.

*Special THANK YOU to Dolce & Gabbana for providing these fabulous, hot-from-the-Milan-runway beauty tips. Now we can all look like we walked straight off the Milan runway and onto city streets! Love that!
