Chanel Rouge Rubis Holiday 2013 nail polish review

Photo: Chanel “Rouge Rubis” nail polish for Holiday 2013. One base coat, two coats color.

The holiday 2013 season is almost here! That means Chanel has already given us a holiday red nail polish for the festive season. This year, Chanel has created “Rouge Rubis” nail polish. Chanel “Rouge Rubis” nail polish is a bright, cherry red which works perfectly with winter 2014’s candy colored trend. The red hue from Chanel “Rouge Rubis” is reminiscent of a Maraschino Cherry, as well as a sweet, candied cherry pie. It is not a red for the faint of heart; “Rouge Rubis” is bright and fun!

Chanel “Rouge Rubis” nail polish has the perfect balance between a blue based red and an orange based red. “Rouge Rubis” plays well with both sides of the color spectrum making it an easy color to wear on a daily basis. I tested Chanel “Rouge Rubis” with one base coat and two coats of color; no top coat. The polish wore off the edges of the top of my nails within two days, but after the initial rub off on the edges, “Rouge Rubis” did not chip or flake for seven days. Love that!

“Rouge Rubis” by Chanel is a great cherry pie red for the holiday 2013 season, as well as for the nail polish guru who loves red! Chanel “Rouge Rubis” nail polish is a fun red; much less serious than the red nail polish hues Chanel has produced over the past few holiday seasons. I love the playful nature of a cherry red and the fact that it does not chip easily is a huge bonus!

Chanel “Rouge Rubis” nail polish is priced at $27 and can be found online here.

Dolce & Gabbana Nude nail polish review

Nail Polish c/o Dolce & Gabbana “Nude”  one base coat, two coats of color. No top coat.

Dolce & Gabbana “Nude” nail polish is a pale, peachy color which is the perfect alternative to naturally nude nails. In the current world of fashion; prints, textures and competing colors are all the rage. Due to this fact, it can be challenging to find the right nail color to take you from the office to dinner to a special event. In fact, it can be challenging to find a nail color which works with every outfit you wear for an entire week!

Thankfully Dolce & Gabbana’s “Nude” nail polish is the perfect, classic answer to the nail color dilemma. The pale nude hue matches every color and print imaginable. The soft color is close to the shade of natural nails; making Dolce & Gabbana “Nude” the perfect alternative to wearing nothing on your nails at all! I always say, you never look finished or polished unless your nails are done, so Dolce & Gabbana “Nude” is the perfect way to have natural yet finished nails. Love it!

I love the shine and peachy hue of Dolce & Gabbana’s “Nude” nail polish. I know this nail polish will be perfect for travelling (since no-one wants to fiddle with changing their nail color while on vacation or a work trip!) and it will also be perfect for the resort season. Nude nails look amazing with a tan! Now all I need is an actual resort vacation for the fashion season. 😉

Dolce & Gabbana “Nude” nail polish is priced at $24 and can be found online here and here.

Pencil skirts for fall 2013

The pencil skirt is back! After a bright spring/summer season filled with A-line skirts and dresses, the pencil skirt has made a comeback; and it is chicer than ever. Although our eyes just got used to the A-line skirt, the pencil skirt has decided to take over for fall as the “IT” skirt for the cool weather season, leaving the A-line is a close, second place style spot.

Pencil skirts for fall 2013 are hitting just at, or just below, the knee. This long, slim silhouette is chic, sophisticated and very “of-the-moment” for fall 2013. Designers have created the pencil skirt in every fall style imaginable. Pencil skirts are being shown in leather, wool, autumn hues, bold prints, digital prints and color blocked.

For fall 2013, the pencil skirt is the focal point of an ensemble. Pencil skirts with prints are a hot item this fall and outfits are being designed around them. If there is one hot, trendy piece to buy this fall 2013 season, it is a printed pencil skirt.

Of course, if printed pencil skirts are not your thing, a classic, solid colored skirt in black, brown, wine or cobalt blue will look fresh and modern for fall. The fabulous thing about a classic pencil skirt is that you may already have one in your closet! Love that!

I found a few fabulous, knee length pencil skirts for fall 2013 around the web and assembled them into the shopping widget below. Hope you love them! Happy shopping, and stay fabulous
