How to get the beauty look from Dolce & Gabbana’s fall 2012 runway

Dolce & Gabbana’s fall 2012 collection shown during Milan Fashion Week was nothing short of amazing. The designing duo presented a collection which evoked the opulence of Sicilian Baroque. The line featured intricate brocade details against a classic black and gold color palette which inspired Fashionistas everywhere for the upcoming cool weather season.

In order to create the ultimate beauty look on the models, make-up artist Pat McGrath used Dolce & Gabbana beauty products to create the ultimate fall beauty look on the runway which not only complimented the accessory and apparel collection, the look inspired new beauty trends for the fall season. Pat McGrath translated Dolce & Gabbana’s vision into makeup by combing tonal nudes and rich gold accents.

This season we were inspired by the exquisite detail found in Baroque architecture and design,” says Domenico Dolce.  “We wanted to reflect the delicate perfection of embroidery and the details you see in tapestries; the iconic grandeur of cherubs, capodimonte flowers, intricate motifs and stitching,” adds Stefano Gabbana.

Dolce & Gabbana and Pat McGrath have shared the beauty secrets from backstage at Milan Fashion Week in order to help us achieve this flawless and fabulous face at home. The following text was written and provided by Pat McGrath and Dolce & Gabbana:

To achieve a flawless look Pat applied The Perfect Finish Creamy Foundation using The Foundation Brush

She carefully blended the foundation adding extra coverage on the nose and forehead. The Perfect Finish Concealer was then used to achieve a flawless, ethereal look illuminated with light.

Finally Pat used The Luminous Cheek Colour in Delight, sweeping colour lightly across models’ cheekbones for a romantic flush

On the eyes, The Smooth Eye Colour Quad in Gold and Desert were applied in layers to create a luxurious, gilt rich tone.

The Crayon Intense Eyeliner in Nude was then worked along the lash line above and below the eyes to brighten the look and add further definition.

Finally, several coats of The Secret Eyes Mascara in Coffee were applied, achieving long, volumized lashes for a flirtatious look.

Turning her attention to the lips, Pat applied The Classic Cream Lipstick in Petal and Mandorla, mixing the colors together for a soft, sensual lip with a subtle sheen. The color was applied with greater intensity at the cupid’s bow for a pearlescent finish.

Pat chose The Intense Nail lacquer in Nude for a final subtle accent. The luxuriant finish of the nail color perfectly completed the sensuous makeup look.

Pat McGrath explained: “It was wonderful to create this make up look for this collection; there is a real sense of divine drama to the clothes and so I wanted to bring that to life with the makeup look. The models look refined and flawless, and their gilt edged lids really refer to the Designers’ lavish inspiration.”

Cap toed shoes will spring into fall

The cap toed shoe has been spotted sparingly this spring 2012 season, but for fall 2012, the style will be moving into the forefront of foot fashion. Designers such as Christian Louboutin, Stuart Weisman and Roberto Cavalli (Just Cavalli line) have already shown the cap toe shoe for spring 2012 and fall 2012. This retro style, which is reminiscent of the early to mid-1900’s, is adding a fresh take to the pump and the flat this year.

Cap toed shoes are being shown in colors, neutrals and metallic’s for the spring and fall seasons; showing the style is offering shoe fans many options for 2012.

We found a few fabulous styles of cap toed pumps from the current spring collections which also reflect fall 2012’s color palette and assembled them into the Polyvore set below. Happy shopping and stay fabulous

Milan Fashion Week trends for fall 2012

Milan Fashion Week has come to an end, and as Paris designers send their fall 2012 collections down the catwalk over the next week, we reflect on the trends from Milan which will make an impact this fall 2012.

Back in Black: As the classic AC/DC song goes, “Back in Black. . .” Milan designers turned up for fall with a dark and somber color palette. The majority of the designer collections which graced the Milan ready-to-wear catwalks were black with splashes of dark burgundy, chocolate brown, dark teal and dark forest green. An occasional sprinkle of dark purple and fuchsia could be spotted, but these feminine hues were few and far between.

Luxury: Designers thumbed their noses at worldwide economic distress and showed luxurious fabrications for both apparel and accessories. There were fur collars, velvet dresses, hand-woven lace, golden embroidery and lavish silks gracing Milan catwalks for fall; showing the fashion world that indulgence is in.

Flat Soled Pumps: While designers in New York showed both platform and flat soled pumps for fall, Milan designers went down to the ground and showed the return of the flat soled pump; something to think about while shoe shopping this spring and summer.

Textured handbags: Handbags in Milan were made from multiple fabrications, showing that texture is hot for fall. Designers mixed fabrics such as velvet and crocodile, leather and satin and also needlepoint with stingray.

The Small Handbag: At the turn of the century in the 1900’s, a proper woman never carried a handbag larger than her head. This mantra has returned for fall 2012. Handbags are small and medium sized with enough room for a wallet, keys, lipstick and smartphone. We didn’t need to carry the kitchen sink everywhere anyway!

City Shorts: Designers in Milan showed city shorts paired with leg coverings as an alternative to office attire for fall. This mild weather alternative to the pantsuit looks modern and sharp. Designers paired city shorts with blouses and blazers, giving the edgy bottom a conservative angle.

Dark lips: Many designers in Milan showed natural looking make-up with dark, vampy lipstick. It should be interesting to see if this trend hits the streets; it is not flattering on everyone.

Lace: While part of the luxury trend, lace dominated the Milan fall 2012 runways. This has been a hot fabric for the past year and is definitely worth investing in since it will remain important into winter 2013.

Bold Jewelry: The bold jewelry trend is staying hot for fall 2012. Milan designers showed chunky necklaces and earrings for the fall 2012 season. Look for yellow gold and black resin’s for the season’s hottest chunky baubles.
