Stripes are so much fun! I have always loved stripes, but after seeing them splashed all over the spring 2017 runways, I became more enamored with the pattern than ever before.

This black and white striped dress from SheIn is perfect for rocking the horizontal stripes trend right now, and into next year. The fabric is lightweight, and easy to care for. So for cold days, it can be warmed up with booties, a scarf, and a jacket. I love how this dress also looks topped off with a moto jacket; or any leather jacket!

If you want to wear a striped dress casually, this particular dress can easily be paired with sneakers or slip-on sneakers for a casual, street style look. You can top the look off with a bucket bag or backpack. Voila! Instant street cred 😉

When the warm spring months hit, this striped dress from SheIn will look amazing with block heel slides and a statement necklace. I love owning pieces which are fun to style, and easily transition between seasons.

Since stripes are a hot trend right now, you can’t wrong with a striped dress to take you from now into next year! See below for all my favorite striped dresses from SheIn; all under $50! Love that!

Western ruffles

Wearing: bold shell earrings / Chanel sunglasses / MAC Lipstick / Topshop blouse (sold out, also love this one, and this one-not similar but SO CUTE!) / bold lapis ring / Chanel Gris Obscur nail polish / Gap jeans (old, similar pair here) / black Proenza Schouler satchel / guitar strap for handbags / burgundy suede loafer pumps (under $150!!)

Have you ever been drawn to an article of clothing because it reminded you of something? This ruffle shirt reminded me of two things; my childhood obsession with western clothing, and a television show named “Little House on the Prairie.”

The ruffles on the blouse reminded me of the costuming from the show, and they also reminded me of the ruffle shirts I wore when I was around seven and eight years old. I used to put outfits together with brown cowboy boots, a cowgirl hat, corduroy skirts, and ruffle shirts! My western themed phase lasted until I was on a boat with family friends one day sailing around the bay and that cute little western cowgirl hat of mine blew right off my head into the bay! Cue massive amounts of tears . . . I get a little sad just thinking about it.

This ruffle blouse definitely takes me back in time to my childhood, and it has turned out to be a great piece to wear right now! I love pairing it with jeans, a-line midi-skirts, and denim skirts. The fabric is on the thick side, so it is definitely better suited for temperatures below seventy degrees. I know I will get more use out of it as we head towards winter here in the Bay Area.

Unfortunately this ruffle shirt sold out quickly. If you are looking for a great shirt this fall season which can easily be worn casually, check out this striped blouse, and this understated ruffle shirt. You can see an outfit post of the second choice here.

Do you have any pieces which bring back memories?

Oversize velvet blazer and boyfriend jeans

Velvet is one of my favorite fabrics. I love anything soft, and luxurious. Velvet is both of those things. With so many velvet choices out there for the fall season, I decided to go for a comfortable, oversize velvet blazer which can be worn casually.

When the velvet blazer trend starting taking the streets by storm in September, I was excited knowing I could pull my grey velvet jacket out of the closet which I purchased about fifteen years ago. I love how a velvet blazer or jacket can elevate a pair of jeans, and make an otherwise casual outfit look refined, and put together; yet velvet blazers are so effortless! Not to mention cozy. 😉

I dress casually most days, so investing in pieces which can be worn often are key when I look to make a purchase. Nothing irks me more than buying something which ends up sitting in my closet. Since I already own a more fitted, velvet jacket, I decided to go with an oversize velvet jacket for the fall 2016, and winter 2017, seasons.

This outfit took me from day into evening last Friday. I wore this outfit during the day, then for the evening, I met up with a few of my friends for dinner at Steamers in Los Gatos; if you go, be sure to have Tiramisu for dessert! It’s to-die-for!

In order to go from day into evening, I switched from my Proenza Schouler Hava satchel pictured above, to my classic black Chanel Boy Bag. Voila! Day into evening, love that!

Oversize velvet blazers can be worn so many different ways this fall season! I was in the mood to wear loose clothing on Friday, so I paired my oversize velvet blazer with baggy boyfriend jeans. For a more structured, yet still casual look, this velvet blazer can be worn with skinny jeans and heels or booties. It can also be thrown over a casual dress, or black dress. For a more “street” look, this velvet blazer can be worn with cut-off denim shorts, biker/moto boots or creepers, and a concert tee.

Thanks for stopping by,

XOXO
