The fall 2026 trends from the runways are influencing the emerging fall trends on the streets. Of course, many of the fall trends we saw on the fall/winter 2026 runways won’t make it to the mainstream streets.

Designers sent balloon proportions, exaggerated faux fur, and other oddities down the runways for the fall/winter 2026/27 season. While those were fun and artistic styles to watch on the runways, they weren’t all practical for everyday life. When it comes to what makes it from the runway to the streets, it’s more about small details and colors than something avant-garde. Unless of course, shock value is your jam. Then, you do you.

Green

This fall season, we will see many shades of green, in particular, olive green and military green. When it comes to green, you can wear it anywhere; including in your makeup. We will see green nail polish, eye shadow and more in addition to clothing and accessories. So, if you like green, this is your season!

Leather Everything

Leather is always a fall staple, but this year we are seeing it in 1970s proportions. You will find leather and suede skirts, pants, jackets, tops, and more. This isn’t the black motorcycle leather outfit type of look, it’s more of a 1970s and 1980s leather look. Think sophisticated and casual as opposed to intimidating.

Jackets we hate

Those jackets from the 1980s are back. Suffice it to say, I am not here for it. Bomber jackets, stadium jackets, work jackets, members only style jackets; they are all here for fall. I don’t find them flattering. This will be a pass for me, but if you love them, you do you.

Art Deco

Art deco is back! Think season 6 of “Downton Abby.” The dropped waist, glorious details, soft fabrics, long and straight blazers; they are all hot for fall. I haven’t seen the headpieces yet though; I will wait for those.

Large Stripes

If you jumped on the rugby shirt trend a few years ago, I hope you kept it! Rugby shirts are back, as well as large stripes in general.

Pink Nail Polish

Pink nail polish is hot for fall. So, this is the season to go classic and understated on your nail colors. Unless you’re like me and will be playing with green. Otherwise, mix things up with classic pink.

Plaid

Plaid is a fall staple, so it is no wonder we are seeing plaid for fall. You will find it on skirts, tops and more. Enjoy the plaid!

Pleats

Pleated skirts. This is a timeless look, but very prominent for the fall 2026 season. Look for long and short pleated skirts.

Wide Leg Pants

Wide leg pants and jeans are still hot. This is a continuing trend so it’s not groundbreaking. It’s just advising us that we already own the right pants for fall. Yay! Money saving trend! We can put that money towards our $100 gas trip. Anyhoo. . .

Faux Fur

Faux Fur is hot for fall. I know, it’s shocking right? Haha

Well, there you go! Ten trends to watch for the fall 2026 season. Before buying anything, be sure to shop your closet for these trends and then make a shopping list to fill in the looks you love. If you don’t like a trend, skip it! Your fall closet should reflect you, not a trend that doesn’t fit you. Keep your style personal.
