As 2025 comes to an end, we are more cautious of what we spend our hard-earned money on, and how we plan our wardrobes. Although there has been a move towards minimalism and classic style, the new year will usher in a few changes we all need to be ready for. So, without further ado, here is what to expect to fade away, and what to expect to thrive in the new year.
Goodbye 2025
Mocha Mousse: This isn’t really goodbye. I mean, shades of brown will always be relevant, and they remain important in 2026. That being said, watch for a trend towards lighter, fresher shades.
All neutral ensembles: While neutrals remain important in 2026, there will be a move away from head-to-toe neutral looks and move towards pops of colors and texture.
IYKYK: This trend is fading away. While logos are still taboo, recognizable styles are making a comeback. So, it’s more like, everyone knows. Is there an acronym for that?
Simplicity: Minimalism is fading into the background. It’s time to add a little texture and interest to our ensembles.

Cloud Dancer: Shades of white are hotter than hot. Watch for light, fresh hues in the new year.
Maximalism: Maximalism is coming back, in a new form. Instead of fashly maximalism, we are seeing texture on fabrics, prints on accessories or smaller clothing items (think scarf not dress), and layering. So it’s not indulgence this time around, it’s just a move away from solid colors and head-to-toe neutrals.
Pops of color: Color is making a comeback. Watch for a adding a pop of color to your neutrals such as bright handbag, scarf or top.
Preppy attire: Classic and timeless style is still hot. We will see preppy looks continue, but this time, there might a little bit more color.
Return to the office: Companies are demanding workers return to the office, and with that, we are seeing a return to office attire. Look for classic high heels, blazers, and modern suiting.
Soft fabrics: This trend from 2025 continues into 2026. Look for satin, soft fabrications, and unstructured silhouettes.
Chain bags: The classic Chanel chain is hot right now and many designers are opting to make it an embellishment. Whether it’s a strap or something dangling from your bag, watch for chains on handbags.
The early 2000’s: Designers are trying to make this comeback-again. Let’s see if it sticks in 2026. Think Balenciaga City Tote, Celine Luggage tote, texture on fabrics, and denim.
