Supima held their design challenge on Thursday, September 4, 2014 during New York Fashion Week at Lincoln Center. Hosted by Coco Rocha, the design competition featured designs from Anastasia Iafrate of Kent State University, Jenny Hoang from the Academy of Art University, David Lee from FIDM, Ou Ma from FIT, Sharon Moon from the Rhode Island School of Design and Yuxi Bi from Savannah College of Art and Design.

The designs on the runway were exquisite and represented the new artistry from emerging designers we will be seeing on the market in the near future. Although all of the talented design finalists presented outstanding, fresh and unique pieces, Anastasia Iafrate of Kent State University was awarded the grand prize of $10,000 which will help the designer jump start her business.

The photos above feature one design from each designer which Rita and I felt stood out on  the runway. Photo #6 features winners’ Anastasia Iafrate’s design.

Kate Spade held her spring/summer 2015 presentation on September, 5 2015 during New York Fashion Week. The collection was true to Kate Spade’s well-loved aesthetic and included playful prints and handbags. The garden theme Kate Spade portrayed during the presentation included real grass on the venue’s floor; which set the ideal setting for the collection that instantly took you on a warm, spring day picnic.

The flattering silhouettes included fit and flare, sheath dresses, a-line skirts, full skirt with pleats, crop tops and feminine blouses. The colors were vivid without being bright or neon. Kate Spade also showed a variety of flat sandals, wedges and high heels which can easily be worn from casual day-wear to casual-chic evening attire.

I adore the prints, fit and flare styles, and whimsical handbags in Kate Spade’s spring/summer 2015 New York Fashion Week presentation. I am looking forward to when Kate Spade’s spring/summer 2015 collection hits stores! Which style from the presentation is your favorite?

Jay Godfrey held his spring/summer 2015 presentation at New York Fashion Week on September 4, 2014 at the The Hub in New York. The collection evoked a Western, boho-chic vibe infused with effortless glamour. The subtle colors mixed with neutral, soft metallics and luxurious textured fabrications gave the collection an inviting feeling which was modern and fresh. Although it was a presentation where the models stood on a platform instead of walked a runway, onlookers could easily see the movement in the pieces as models changed poses and allowed us to view the dimension of each piece. The fringe jacket in the bottom photo was a stand-out piece for me; I am also in love with the pants!
