The last model has walked off the New York Fashion Week, spring/summer 2016 runway, and left the world with a whole new set of amazing trends to look forward this spring season.

Over the past few seasons, designers have favored 1970’s inspiration with a little bit of 90’s, 60’s, and 80’s inspiration thrown into the mix. For the spring/summer 2016 season, the decade of influence has shifted. The 70’s are still present, but the 60’s have risen to the forefront of New York fashion.

Here is a list of trends from the runways at New York Fashion Week. It should be interesting to see which of these trends make it from the runway, to the streets!

Color trends: The most prominent and eye-catching colors on the runways were vivid. Designers favored shades of blue, green, and pink.

All-White: In contrast to a brighter color palette for spring 2016, designers loved the all-white look. Look forward to all-white ensembles, dresses, accessories, and more!

Short hemlines: Gone are the days of the modest midi. Designers favored mini-skirt hemlines with an a-line silhouette for the spring 2016 season. Start heading to spin and step classes! Those legs will need to be in tip-top shape come March.

Geometry: Spring 2016 is all about structure, and geometric lines. Look for large, geometric earrings, structured clothing, geometric patterns, and structure.

Color Blocking: The trend that refuses to die. Look for bi-color blocking, and contrasting paneling on attire this spring.

Asymmetrical hemlines: In contrast to the mini-skirt this spring, look for midi and maxi lengths with asymmetrical hemlines. See, the 70’s are not dead yet 😉

Ombre: Who doesn’t love Ombre? Look for ombre fabrics as a fun alternative to color blocking this spring.

Box bags: As fashion moves to a more structured silhouette, so do the handbags. Look for boxy, stiff, and structural handbags this spring season. The sizes are small to medium, and offer one top handle. Although most designers opted for square or rectangular boxes, cutting edge IT bag designers Mansur Gavriel have gone with structural circles. This will be a bag to watch for 2016.

Strappy shoes: Never fear, your strappy sandals will still be here! Designers are still showing strappy shoes, strappy sandals, tassels on shoes, tassels on boots, wrap-up styles, tie up styles, bright colors, and suede. Since these are continuing trends, your shoe game will be strong.

Florals: Revolutionary! Can you believe it?! Designers are showing florals for spring. Look for small floral prints this spring season.

Pale Pink: Another trend which refuses to die. Look for the continuation of all blush or pale pink outfits. Shoes, bags, clothing worn together in pale pink for spring. It’s a tonal look.

Solid Colors: Although designers showed small florals, and geometric patterns for spring, solid colors took the cake for the upcoming warm weather season.

Bi-Color Pleats: Heaven forbid your pleats are all one color. Pleats are bi-color for spring. Don’t be caught with a solid color pleated skirt, it will be so LY.

Blazers: The topper of choice for spring seems to be the blazer. Look for office-appropriate styles, as well as casual blazers, which will top jeans or casual mini-dresses.

Lace: Designers loved lace everything for spring 2016. Look for lace overlays, trim, and all-over design.

Overall, designers showed playful collections for the spring/summer 2016 season on the runways during New York Fashion Week. There is no reason to take fashion too seriously this season. It is a transitional season where the 70’s are still OK, but the 60’s and 80’s are on the rise. Feel free to mix up your hemlines, go with muted, neutral, or bright colors. Wear all white or pale pink without fear. Think go-go girl meets office girl; and you’re right on trend.

Chromat spring 2016 beauty look by Maybelline

chromat new york fashion week beauty look

Chromat had an amazing, modern show at New York Fashion Week (MADE Fashion  Week) for the spring/summer 2016 season. I loved the structural yet athletic vibe of the collection. The beauty look was equally athletic and modernistic; complementing the vibe of the collection.

For Chromat’s beauty look, Dominique Samuel created a sporty and dynamic using Maybelline products. The result was a modern meets athletic look which fit perfectly into her imagined “power women of the future” inspiration.

If you would like to recreate this look at home, you are in luck! Maybelline has shared Dominique Samuel’s process for creating the Chromat spring 2016 runway beauty look at home.

The following text and tips were written by Maybelline:

Dominique begins by applying Fit Me! Matte + Poreless Foundation all over the skin followed by Face Studio Master Concealer under the eyes and along the sides of the nose and temples to reflect light, and develop the dewy effect.

Next, he defines clear angles and shapes on her face using Face Studio Master Contour at the cheek bones, outer brown, and along the nose and at the outer edges of the face, blending bronzer and contour cream with a brush. He uses highlighter along high planes of the face.

Dominique sculpts a thick brow with a subtle arch using Eye Studio Color Tatoo 24HR Cream Gel Shadow in Tenacious Teal  blending and elongating the shape with a brush. He defines the lower lash line with Lip Studio Color Blur in Cherry Cherry Bang Bang and adds shine to the upper lid using Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Taupe With Me. A single coat of the The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara (launches Oct 2015) on upper lashes to complete the eye.

Dominique finishes the look by dabbing Baby Lips Balm for subtle shine.

Pictured from top: necklace, earrings / earrings / earrings, bracelets / necklace (on my wish list!!), earrings (I have these and love them!), midi ring set / necklace (I have this in black and wear it all the time, love!!), Y-necklace, large earrings, small earrings

During New York Fashion Week, Kendra Scott opened her showroom up to appointments; allowing me to view the current fall 2015 collection. Kendra Scott also displayed the upcoming winter collection which will debut mid-October. (Watch for my coverage of this collection in October!)

Kendra Scott’s fall 2015 collection features variations on her classic collection; as well as new pieces which are sure to become instant classics. Many of the fall pieces are made with white howlite, or black banded agate; which puts an edgy spin on classic black or white. These pieces work well with any color combination; making them versatile and easy to wear this fall season. Love that!

I am in love with the white howlite pieces. I have a pair of earrings, a bracelet, and a necklace from Kendra Scott’s fall 2015 collection which are made from white howlite and set in silver. They work well with my summer into fall wardrobe, and also work perfectly with my fall wardrobe. Since they are white, these pieces will work well in any season.

Many of the pieces from Kendra Scott’s fall 2015 collection work well with pieces from previous seasons. This allows for easy layering.

Kendra Scott fall 2015 also shows mixed metals for the autumn season. Kendra Scott has mixed together silver, rose, gold, yellow gold, and black metals for the fall season. This adds to the versatility of her collection as it can be mixed and matched with almost anything. It also makes her collection easy to travel with. I wore this bracelet set everyday in New York since it matched all my earrings. Loved it!

Here are my favorite pieces from the Kendra Scott’s fall 2015 collection. Stay tuned for her winter collection which I will feature in October!
