On September 27, 2015 Dolce & Gabbana sent their spring/summer 2016 collection down the Milan Fashion Week runway. The collection was stunning; a tribute to Italy. In order to complete the Italian Love theme of the collection, a make-up look was designed for the runway which complimented the collection as a whole. The beauty look highlighted luminous skin with a flawless, dewy finish, featured soft and smoky feline eyes, and plump lips showcasing the full range of new Dolce & Gabbana “Dolce Matte Rosa” Lipsticks. Nails were done in a feminine, romantic shade which completes the look

Dolce & Gabbana has been kind enough to provide us with the tips for achieving this fabulous runway beauty look at home! The below text was written and provided by Dolce & Gabbana.

Dolce&Gabbana Essential UV Cream was first applied to hydrate the skin, followed by the Sheer Radiance Primer to build the perfect canvas for make-up application. A flawless complexion was achieved using the Perfect Luminous Liquid Foundation blended outward, from the center of the face out towards the ears. The Perfect Luminous Concealer was applied to the shadowed areas of the face and dabbed under the eyes, hiding blemishes and creating an impeccable base with an even skin tone. The cheeks displayed a warm, romantic flush by being delicately contoured with the new Blush in Bacio 50, which was swept onto the apples of the cheeks and up towards the ears. The face was highlighted using The Illuminator in Eva 3 along the cheekbones and on the bridge of the nose, while the skin was set with a light dusting of The Pressed Powder across the nose and forehead.

The romantic, soft feline eye look was achieved with a base of Perfect Mono Eyeshadow in Nude 30 blended across the eyelids. The two complementary shades of brown from The Eyeshadow Quad in Smoky 105 were mixed together and applied with a blending blush along the crease of the eyelids to create depth. For added definition, The Illuminator in Luna 4 was applied to the inner corner of the eyes and below the eyebrows. The upper lash lines were amplified by applying The Eyeliner in Chocolate 10 in an upward flick, and a line of the Glam Liner in Earthy Brown 2 was drawn along the upper lash line, to add an intense yet feminine feline finish. On the curled top lashes, layers of the Volumized Mascara in Black 1 were applied, paying special attention to the outer corners for definition and a lengthening finish.

The brows were sculpted with The Brow Liner in Soft Brown 1 and Mocha 3, using the wide part of the pencil nib with light, feathery strokes to fill the color outwards to the end of the brow, achieving a natural youthfulness to the face.

For beautiful, rosy plump lips, from the new collection of Dolce Matte Lipstick, a mixture of shades were combined to create perfectly tailored spring looks using Dolce Nudo 124, Miss Dolce 134, Dolce Dolcezza 212, Dolce Rosa 222, Dolce Sogno 223, Dolce Mamma 229, Dolce Excelsa 512 andDolce Bacio 641. To give lips definition and to keep the lipstick in place, the lips were lined with The Lipliner in Mamma 17, Rosa 16, Dolcezza 15, Bacio 18 and Soft 6. Nails painted with The Nail Lacquer in Bella 210 evoke elegance and finish this soft and feminine Spring/Summer 2016 look.

There you have it! The beauty look straight from Dolce & Gabbana’s spring 2016 runway.

Dolce & Gabbana Dolce Floral Drops EDT review

dolce and gabbana floral drops edp

Dolce & Gabbana’s new flanker fragrance to Dolce is Dolce Floral Drops. This beautiful eau de toilette contains the same fragrance notes as Dolce, yet offers a softer, dewier fragrance experience than it’s predecessor. Love it!

Dolce Floral Drops is an eau de toilette, versus the original Dolce which offered an eau de parfum concentration. The EDT mixture of Dolce Floral Drops creates a softer, more floral fragrance experience than the EDP mixture from Dolce which offered more of a green floral experience.

The fragrance notes for Dolce & Gabbana Dolce Floral Drops EDT are:

Top notes: neroli leaf, papaya flower.
Middle notes: white amaryllis, white daffodil, white water lily.
Base notes: cashmeran, musk, sandalwood.

Dolce & Gabbana Dolce Floral Drops EDT starts off with a light green scent laced in florals. After about twenty minutes, the green scent settles down and a beautiful floral bouquet takes over. At the end of the day, the floral scent is laced with smooth musk and sandalwood.

The light floral fragrance experience of Dolce & Gabbana Dolce Floral Drops EDT lends itself well to daily wear. This fragrance is ideal for moderate and warm weather; making it a great scent to wear in the spring, summer, and fall seasons.

Since Dolce & Gabbana Dolce Floral Drops EDT is a lighter scent, it can easily be worn in tight quarters to places such as the office or theater. It is also easy to wear for casual or semi-formal occasions. Love that!

Dolce & Gabbana’s Dolce Floral Drops EDT is a beautiful scent which sets itself apart from it’s Mother fragrance Dolce. Although both fragrances offer a different fragrance experience, they will likely appeal to the same nose. I’m in love!

Happy National Lipstick Day!

Happy National Lipstick Day! In honor of National Lipstick Day, I thought I would talk a little about my favorite lipsticks! But first, let’s review a small bit of lipstick history.

Lipstick was first thought to have been invented roughly 5000 years ago by Sumerian women. According to Wikipedia, Sumerian women crushed gemstones and used the paste to decorate their lips and eyes. Can you imagine crushing gemstones to make cosmetics?! I would die. My instinct would be to create sparkling jewels! But I digress. . .

The use of lipstick continued throughout ancient, and modern history, with civilizations using different types of ingredients to make lipstick; sometimes with toxic results.

Lipstick became popular in England in the 1600’s when Queen Elizabeth used it to color her lips. Only upper class women, and actors wore lipstick at that time. As history progressed, lipstick was commonly thought of as risque; Nice girls, young girls, and unmarried girls, were not permitted to wear lipstick. It was not until the mid-twentieth century that lipstick became acceptable to wear at any age; and in any demographic. Until this time, lipstick was, in general, red. It became acceptable in large part due to new colors brought to market such as pink, peach, and white. The newer colors were seen as less racy, and more of a fashion statement. Isn’t that amazing!

My favorite lipstick colors are pinks, light purples, and sheers. I tend to gravitate towards shine lipsticks, and sheer lipsticks. Matte and cream lipsticks feel too heavy on me.

The lipstick brands I gravitate towards are Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, and Tom Ford. They have the most amazing colors, formulas, and results! The Dolce & Gabbana Shine Lipstick featured in the photo above, is my new favorite lipstick. It offers a light, warm shine on the lip which is sheer, and easy to wear on a daily basis. It matches everything! Love that!
