Pumps for fall 2014

One of the staples in every woman’s closet is the pump. Every few years, the styles of pumps change; and every season there is a light tweak in styles, fabrics and heels which can make keeping a “classic” pair of pumps in one’s closet a difficult feat! For fall 2014, the “classic” pump style has not changed from the last season; making navigating shoe shopping a little bit easier for everyone.

The “classic” features to look for in pumps for fall 2014 are the pointed toe and the skinny, “stiletto style” heel. This ideal pump silhouette is being found in dark autumn hues such as deep purple, navy, chocolate brown and timeless black. In addition to solid colors, pumps are being shown in metallic hues and varying shades of grey; one of the season’s hottest hues.

Beyond the “classic” pump for fall 2014, pumps are taking on a fresh twist for the cool weather season. Designers are embellishing classic pumps with ankle straps, low ankle straps, t-straps and random straps. While all-over studs have been played out, designers have opted for using studs as an edgy touch by adding them to the heel of a shoe or around the edges. Buckles are also a new feature we are finding on pumps for fall 2014. Buckles add interest to the pump without crossing into rocker territory.

Designers are also adding ombre, color blocking and embellishments for the fall 2014 season to the classic pump silhouette.  While chunky, stacked and thick heels are a hot trend for the fall 2014 season, pumps are continuing to favor a skinnier heel; leaving chunkiness for casual shoes, trouser shoes and boots.

With all of these twists on the “classic” pump for fall 2014, shoes are becoming an important way to update one’s wardrobe for the autumn season. I found a few amazing shoes from the fall 2014 collections around the web and placed them into the shopping widget below. Happy shopping, and stay fabulous 😉

One of my favorite lipstick brands is Dolce & Gabbana. Their Passion Duo Gloss Fusion Lipsticks offer glossy coverage with a moisture induced center that allows the lipstick to moisturize your lips as well as leave a beautiful color applied to them. Love that!

The five colors of Dolce & Gabbana Passion Duo Gloss Fusion Lipstick I am showing above are new for summer 2014. Jasmine, Orchid, Lily, Lotus and Amaryllis are all easy to wear, soft hues with a pink base. These lipstick shades look amazing with summer’s bright color palette; yet offer a classic look which will be easy to wear as we transition into fall 2014. Amaryllis, the Passion Duo Lipstick hue in the last photo, is a fabulous color for transitioning into fall. It is the darkest shade of the five lipsticks and offers a neutral hue which blends with both summers’ bright color palette, and fall’s mix of bright colors and overly dark traditional autumn hues.

Amaryllis is definitely my favorite summer 2014 Dolce & Gabbana Passion Duo Gloss Fusion Lipstick hue out of the five featured above; although I love them all! Which color do you like?

A couple of weeks ago I attended the Saks Fifth Avenue presents Oscar de la Renta resort 2015 to benefit the League to Save Lake Tahoe in Incline Village, Nevada. The event was a beautiful fundraiser which helped raise much-needed funds for ensuring a clean environment in the Tahoe area. The added perk of the fundraiser was getting a sneak peek, or first-hand look, at Oscar de la Renta’s resort 2015 collection. You can read my write-up here.

I knew the event would be out in the sun so I was excited to find this Kate Spade dress made out of cool cotton, and this Eric Javits hat with spf protection. I felt like the two pieces were made for each other! I have also found myself wearing this hat for many occasions other than the fundraiser. You can see when I wore it boating here.

It is always fun to dress up and put an outfit together for a special occasion. I am keeping my fingers crossed for another event soon where I can re-wear this outfit!
