Au Revoir to all the trends of 2015, and Bonjour to fresh, new styles in 2016!

goodbye 2015 hello 2016

It is the last day of 2015, this means it is time to bid farewell to the good, and the bad, trends of 2015. This past year has been a fairly good year for fashion. There were hardly any trends we found too offensive.

I mean, remember the days of Jeggings, gigantic top knots, and ankle-breaking platforms? Thank goodness those are left in several years past!

2015 was a good year in fashion. Thankfully, many of the trends from 2015 are continuing in 2016. Look for hot trends such as fringe, 1970s inspiration, felt hats, blanket scarves, flare jeans, bucket and drawstring bags, and asymmetrical lines to continue into the new year. Despite the many continuing trends for 2016, there will still be a few trends from 2015 we are thankful to leave behind, and few fresh ones to look forward to as we head in 2016.

Here we go! Out with the old, and in with the new!

Au Revoir 2015!

Marsala: This classic take on burgundy and maroon was a hit in 2015. While Marsala fades into the background for 2015, it will make a small resurgence as a classic autumn color next fall; just don’t bank on it having the IT factor it enjoyed in 2015.

360 earrings: Why were we wearing these earrings? Oh yeah, they were hotter than hot for a nanosecond. Sigh. The days of the back of your earrings being larger than the front of your earring are done. Thank goodness.

Micro-mini bags: The micro-mini handbag went a little it crazy in 2015. So much so, that many handbags appeared too small for a Cabbage Patch Kid to carry. You know there is a problem when your handbag is wearing a handbag. Yikes! Look for small handbags to be the size of choice as we head into 2016. After all, a girl needs her handbag to at least fit a wallet and smart phone!

Comfort shoes: The comfort shoe trend was so hot in 2015, that it burned out before anyone even noticed! Comfort shoes with socks, and comfort shoes in general, are a big no-no in the new year. Whew! No-one will miss this one.

Delicate Jewelry: Delicate, simple, and dainty jewels are more over than over. Look for bold geometric earrings, long necklaces, and artisan jewelry pieces in the new year.

Bonjour 2016!

Rose Quartz/Serenity: The color of 2016 is actually two colors playing together on the playground. Look for Rose Quartz and Serenity both together, and apart. They are the IT hues of 2016.

Earrings jackets: Now that 360 earrings are done, this 1980s earrings trend, which started becoming popular in 2015, is going extra strong in 2016. Look for earring jackets, and interchangeable earrings, in the new year.

Saddle bags: This 1970s shoulder bag style made a splash in 2015, and is already the current IT bag style. Look for more embellished styles in 2016 with details such as hardware, fringe, and mixed fabrications.

Lady Bags: The anti-saddle-bag is the structured lady bag. The single top handle lady bag is in line with the emerging 1950s and 1960s styles we saw on the spring 2016 runways. This is the ideal handbag style for the trend. Look for the lady bag in small and medium sizes. Colors will include neutrals, and pastels.

All-White: Designers loved all-white for spring 2016 during fashion week. Look for all-white ensembles for both daytime and evening. If it looks a little too “baptism” for you, add a pop of color, or break up the silhouette with a Rose Quartz top and/or accessories.

Festive nails: Designers are favoring bright colors, vivid pastels, and nail art for the new year. Look for paint spattered on white nail polish, pastel pink, and shades of blue ranging from pastel to brights to navy’s.

There you have it! A few trends that are “so LY,” and few trends to covet in the new year. Which trends are you glad to leave behind, and which trends are you looking forward to in 2016?

Chanel Sunrise Trip nail polish spring 2016 review

Chanel Sunrise Trip nail polish for spring 2016, is the hot new nail color from Chanel for the spring season. This nail polish is destined to be the IT color of the season! Is it blue? Is it purple? Well, it happens to be both; depending upon where you are standing.

That’s right! Chanel Sunrise Trip nail polish looks navy blue in the bottle. When applied in artificial light, it is a bright purple hue a few shades darker than last summer’s Lavanda. It also looks purple indoors near a window; throwing the artificial light versus natural light theory out the window. When I walk outside, and the sun shines on the nail polish, or I am in the shade, Chanel Sunrise Trip nail polish looks like a vibrant cobalt blue. Whoa, such a trip!

When I saw the cameleon nature of Sunrise Trip by Chanel, I was thrilled! My two favorite nail polish hues are purple and blue, so to have them in one nail polish is perfection! This is definitely a fun color for the spring season, imagine all the conversations it will start!

I love how Chanel always pushes the envelope with color when it comes to nail polish. Without fail, Chanel can be counted on to set the bar extremely high in nail polish fashion for any given season. Whether they are reinventing a neutral, making red happen, or creating a new color never before seen by the human eye, Chanel can do no wrong. Sunrise Trip is just another prime example of why Chanel nail polish is so fabulous, it is two colors in one, seemingly sensible creme nail polish! Love that!

I tested out Chanel Sunrise Trip nail polish with one base coat, two coats of Sunrise Trip, and one top coat (I LOVE this top coat!!), and it remained chip free! I am looking forward to wearing Chanel Sunrise Trip nail polish throughout the spring season. It is such a fun and uplifting color!

Sunrise Trip by Chanel also happens to blend well with whichever color you are wearing. If you happen to be wearing a blue hue, it will look blue, if you are wearing a color from the purple family, it will look purple, and if you are wearing green or teal, it will look cobalt! Love it!

Chanel Sunrise Trip nail polish can be found online here, here and here. If you like it, get it now, because this is definitely going to be one of those Chanel nail colors that sell out quickly before the season is over.

Stay tuned, I will be reviewing two lipsticks from Chanel’s spring 2016 beauty collection next week!

Plaid skirt and turtleneck sweater

(review here) / Ring: Kendra Scott / Nail Polish: Nars Black Fire / Boots: Tory Burch

This plaid skirt and turtleneck sweater combination is one of my favorite outfits for winter. It is warm and cozy, and perfect to wear for meetings, the office, and church on Sunday. Love that!

I originally purchased this plaid skirt for fashion week in early fall. I fell in love with it the first time I wore it. It is extremely comfortable, and the tie at the waist is very on trend for the season. I also love the plaid, which is easy to wear with any color combination. Of course, since I love black, I paired it with black, and a pop of blue.

This plaid skirt and turtleneck sweater combination is warm and cozy in the cold weather. I can walk outside in forty degree weather, without a coat, and feel comfortable. With a coat, it becomes a warm ensemble for when the temperature dip below forty.

I just purchased this White + Warren turtleneck sweater for the winter months. It is a classic turtleneck sweater which is extremely comfortable, cozy, and versatile. It works well with skirts for  a dressier look, and also jeans for an easy, casual look. When paired with a blanket scarf, no jacket is needed! I know I will wear it for many future winters!

This is definitely going to be my go-to outfit this winter when I need to look dressed up, and also stay warm!

These photos make me smile. It was just starting to rain outside, and my nine-year-old daughter wanted to take my picture. Since she didn’t want to get wet, my seven-year-old son held a giant umbrella over her so she could take pictures, and stay dry. It was the cutest thing! How often do siblings work together? They usually fight over who gets to do what!

I hope you are staying warm this winter. Thank you for stopping by, and stay fabulous!
