Recharging after a full day’s work at fashion week

New York Fashion Week looks so glamourous from the outside; and it is! The nitty-gritty of the inside, is a bit more exhausting then you might think.

If you have ever been to a trade show, imagine working at one from 9am until 10pm, every day, for one week. Then, picture yourself rushing to an Uber every hour to get from booth to booth. This is what fashion week is like. There are shows every hour, and they are spread out at three main locations; Spring Studios, Pier 59 (Chelsea Piers), and Industria. Then, to complicate things, some designers book their own show locations which can be anywhere in Manhattan!

It can be extremely stressful trying to get from one show to another when the Uber ride is twenty minutes, and you only have ten. Then, try to picture yourself in this scenario wearing heels, and carrying a heavy handbag with a DSLR camera inside. It is quite exhausting! My left shoulder and my neck ache just thinking about it!

I am so thankful for that moment each night when I am back in my hotel room and I can relax, check out the photos I took throughout the day, chat with you about the shows on social media, drink a hot cocoa, and cozy up in the softest pajamas on Earth. I don’t know how I could get comfortable enough to relax after an exhausting day of work without my SOMA Intimates pajamas!

Dawn, from Fashion Should Be Fun and I, shared a room at New York Fashion Week. It is always more fun to do fashion week with a friend. We both love our pajamas from SOMA and were so thankful to be able to unwind from a busy day with them. The fabric is so soft; and they fit perfectly!

If you haven’t seen SOMA Intimates pajamas collection, you should definitely check them out. They have so many cute PJ sets you can wear now, and well into the spring season. I have two pairs of them for now into spring; they are the best!

You can find my PJ set from these photos online here. Check out the whole collection at SomaIntimates.com.

What is your favorite way to unwind after a busy work day?

Playing with yellow and purple

wearing: yellow tassel earrings (under $15!) (spring earrings!)/ lipstickpurple scarf / Sosken Studios coat (last seen here) (on MAJOR sale!!)  / black tee  (spring tee!) / skinny clack jeans (spring jeans!) / spring yellow nail polish / pale blue handbag / black boots (old, similar here)

I love this coat! You might remember this coat from last November, when I was attempting to wear it as the weather showed a hint of cooling off. The weather in New York was perfect for wearing it on day one of fashion week! Love that!

Since this coat is black and white, it was the perfect backdrop for playing with color. I added a purple scarf, because you know, color of the year ;-), and I also added these fun yellow tassel earrings for an unexpected mix of color. Since my nail polish was yellow too, I thought it was a fun way to mix yellow and purple. Throw in a pale blue handbag and voila-New York Fashion Week fun!

Yellow is starting to have a moment. It is one of the big spring 2018 colors, and it was splashed all over the New York Fashion Week runways for fall 2018 in both a cheerful, sunshine shade, as well as fall mustard. Start stocking up on yellow!

Day one of fashion week was really fun. I saw Tadashi Shoji, Pamella Roland, and Mimi Prober. It was a light day of shows, but with the new venue and set-up this season, it was perfect. I have found that I need a lighter daily schedule anyway in order to get around New York between shows.

Stay tuned! I have a lot of fun New York Fashion Week coverage coming up this week. There are so many new trends to look forward to!

Son Jung Wan fall 2018 New York Fashion Week

It is always a disco party at Son Jung Wan! I had to keep myself from getting up from my seat and dancing to the beat. There was definitely a party vibe as Son Jung Wan sent a fabulous fall/winter 2018/2019 collection down the New York Fashion Week runway at Spring Studios.

With a dash of classic chic, a sprinkle of avant-garde, and a teaspoon of disco, the fall 2018 collection from Son Jung Wan offered bold color, structure, luxury, glamour, and more. There were bell bottoms with contrasting pleated insets, texture on top of texture, exaggerated peplum, and silver sparkle; oh the sparkle!

Together, the individual pieces created fashion-forward statement looks, if separated, each piece could be integrated into one’s wardrobe to create fabulous updated outfits. This is a beautiful collection to invest in!

Can I just tell you? I am a huge Real Housewives fan, and I was standing in line before the show behind Margaret from Real Housewives of New Jersey. It was so much fun seeing her attending the show and sitting front row. I have been on her side this season during Soggy-Flicker-Gate. Although I don’t condone name-calling, she was forced to apologize way too many times, and never had any ill-intent. I truly felt like she was the one being bullied. Love her! So fun!!

But I digress. . . Son Jung Wan’s fall 2018 was outstanding. I am in love with the yellow look pictured above as well as the bold blue one. I dream of them both appearing in my closet. The whole collection is fabulous! Love it!

You can learn more about Son Jung Wan at her website, SonJungWan.com.
