Spring 2018 fitness routine

Spring is here! Now that the spring season has officially begun, it is time for a new fitness routine.

Although our weather here in the San Francisco Bay Area is still wintry, I am going to try and push through my spring fitness routine, and get outside more!

One of my goals for 2018 was to get outside more, so I am trying to integrate more outside fitness into my spring routine. Since this is our rainy season, I need to ensure I have an indoor back-up plan in place in case of inclement weather on an outdoor fitness day.

Monday: Outdoor hike for 30 minutes plus 15 minute stretch routine

Tuesday: Spin class

Wednesday: Swimming workout-about 4000 yards.

Thursday: 30 minute interval workout at home, alternating cardio drills, core work and strength drills. (my schedule on Thursdays is crazy busy-so I need to squeeze something in at home)

Friday: BodyCombat

Saturday: Family Hike outside for 60 minutes

Sunday: Rest day.

The problem with my fitness routine, is that I need to add weights! So, as of right now, my indoor alternate workout for rainy days involves a one hour treadmill LifeFitness Course, and about a half hour of weights. This will help me integrate weights into my routine; unless we don’t get our weekly rainy days-then I need to re-evaluate this routine! Haha

As you know, in a typical fitness routine, there should be a good combination of cardio, interval, anaerobic cardio, core work, strength work (using body weight), and weights. This fitness routine addresses all of those components except for the weights; which I am hoping will naturally fall into my routine on rainy days.

What is your typical fitness routine during the spring season? If you like to workout outside, how do you incorporate weights into your weekly routine?

Can’t get enough of my . . .black striped jeans

san jose street style

wearing: black striped jeans /

OK, first off, the reason I am walking in every photo in this post is because I have found it is the best way to see the side stripe on the side of these jeans; so please don’t laugh at me too hard 😉

If you’ve been following along for awhile, you know I repeat favorite items from my closet over, and over, and over again! Right now, I have noticed that a ton of my outfits on the blog in 2018 feature these striped jeans! It is not really a surprise because even if I don’t photograph my outfit, this is the first pair of jeans I reach for in the morning.

There is something to be said about a pair of jeans that offers both comfort and style. These jeans are soooooo soft, they are great on days when I am tired and just want to throw something on; yet they are ideal for dressy denim looks due to the silhouette, the side stripe details, and the raw edge. I just love them!

These jeans have proven to be easy to wear with flat shoes, boots, sandals, and heels. They really go with any shoe! I love wearing them with flat mules, boots, and my block heel slides! One of these days I plan to wear them with block heeled pumps for night out on the town.

Do you have something in your closet you just can’t get enough of?

This spring season has been sooooooo cold! It feels like winter! I am so used to March starting to offer with warmer weather, and opportunities to wear skirts, dresses, and shorts! This year has been really cold, so I have been living in jeans and lightweight jackets to get through the chill.

Military jackets are an ongoing trend which fades in and out of fashion every year. This year the military green jacket is very en vogue; so there are tons of cute ones on the market! When I spotted this version of a spring military jacket, I instantly fell in love with the 3/4 sleeves, and relaxed silhouette. It is so comfortable!

I love wearing it casually with jeans. It will also look really cute as an alternative to a denim jacket over a dress later in the season. Love that!
