Have ever had one of those days when you wake up and something hurts, you’re exhausted, and your schedule is full? Ugh, that was me last Friday! I woke up with an aching knee, I was exhausted-as if I ran a marathon, which I did not, and my schedule was jam-packed!

My knee threw me for a loop. Since it was spring break, I thought it would be a good idea to do a few volunteer hours with my daughters since I am trying to teach them our responsibility for the community around us. Since the weather was nice, I thought an outdoor volunteer job would be nice. So, I took the girls down to the Rose Garden in San Jose and we joined other volunteers to help maintain the garden. Our job was weeding. Now, I have a gardener at my house, so although I know how to weed, my body isn’t used to it. We worked for three hours, and afterwards it felt like I had done squats for three hours straight! Eeek!

I could barely walk the next two days, and on Friday I woke up with a pain in my knee. Ugh! I had to cancel my plans of attending spin class with a friend, and just concentrate on getting through the day without aggravating my knee even more. I met up with my fabulous friend Laura from Have Need Want and snapped pictures of our outfits, played with her cute little toddler, and ate a yummy lunch at Tacolicious. I’m so thankful I had this athleisure outfit in my closet to help me be comfortable throughout the day! Three cheers for the athleisure trend! Hip, hip, hooray!

There is nothing like wearing super comfortable sneakers and soft track pants to help alleviate exhaustion and pain. I never want to take these sneakers off! Or these pants! haha, they are so comfy!

How cute is this outfit!? OK, that wasn’t very modest of me, but I am so excited to tell you about it, I couldn’t help myself! I got this entire outfit, plus the Calvin Klein carry-on suitcase, for under $200. Can you believe it!

So, you might be wondering how I did that?! Well, let me tell you, Macy’s has a fabulous new concept which helped me keep my bill under $200. It’s an amazing in-store concept named “Macy’s Backstage.”  Macy’s Backstage offers deep, deep discounts on merchandise you need, want, and will love. The store-within-a-store offers women’s fashion, handbags, shoes, accessories, plus sizes, junior sizes, men’s clothing, kids clothing, toys, luggage (good quality at crazy good prices), beauty products, home decor, and more!

There were so many fabulous on-trend outfits for spring. It was really hard for me to only come home with just one! I am so thrilled to have stayed waaaaaaay under budget, and come home with a complete outfit, perfect for spring or a vacation; and a suitcase! My outfit includes shoes, a handbag, the dress, a necklace, a fabulous pair of earrings, and three bracelets!

I tried on several outfits, it was hard to choose just one! Here are a few shots from the dressing room:

How cute are those skinny jeans with pearls down the side! The polka dot skirt is haunting me, I might have to go back and get these items! If you are looking for the ultimate designer shoe capsule wardrobe, look no further! If you enjoyed my handbag capsule wardrobe post earlier this year, I hope you will enjoy this one too!

There are a lot of fabulous designer shoes on the market, but very few survive season after season. While these shoes haven’t been around for decades, they have survived IT status and settled nicely into possible classic status.

While these shoes are mostly designer, I had to include two pairs of non-designer shoes due to their popularity season after season. In fact, one pair is priced under $100! Love that!

Seasonless loafer mules: These classic loafer mules launched into IT status two years ago and have proven to be able to withstand the test of time. Countless brands have designed similar styles, and their popularity is high. These mules can be worn during all four seasons, depending on the weather in your geographic location. They are extremely comfortable, and can be worn with skirts, pants, jeans, and dresses! These mules are extremely versatile, and a closet staple!

Little black flats: Like the LBD or “little black dress,” we all need a pair of little black flats. These have been around for years and are extremely comfortable, soft, and super cute! Aren’t the scallops adorable!? These flats are timeless, seasonless, and a closet staple.

Edgy high heels: Sometimes you just don’t want to wear classic black high heels. Thankfully the iconic Valentino Rockstuds have become a classic, and a closet staple. They have withstood IT status, and the test of time. Plus, they are really comfortable! We all need one pair in black.

Lace-up espadrille wedges: These fabulous wedges have been featured season after season for many years. They are comfortable, and priced under $100. Love that! You can wear them with pants, jumpsuits, skirts, dresses, and shorts! So, they are the perfect go-to shoe in the spring and summer months.

Platform wedges: These function the same as the lace-up wedges mentioned above, but lace-up shoes aren’t everyone’s jam. So, if you prefer a buckle, these are the espadrille wedges for your shoe capsule wardrobe! They have been shown season after season, and match everything in your spring and summer wardrobes!

*If you are creating a shoe capsule wardrobe, just pick one pair of espadrille wedges, that’s all you really need; unless you want both! Then I won’t stop you-because I own both already! Ooops!

Classic high heels: These sky high heels are classic. They match everything from office attire to cocktail ensembles. We all need one pair in our closet. They are the only classic pumps we need.
