Easy breezy fall floral dress

fall 2018 floral trend affordable fall floral dress fall boots and fall bagfall florals

wearing: bold gold statement earrings / lipstick / fall floral dress (under $75!) / black leather and rose gold watch / blue fall nail polish / black statement ring for fall / black mini satchel / distressed black western style boots /

Despite all the color on the fall 2018 runways in New York, store buyers have opted for a darker color palette this autumn season. As a fan of black, I am not arguing; and instead, find myself embracing the darker hues.

This black floral dress, and entire outfit, was going to be one of my New York Fashion Week outfits. Since I wasn’t able to go at the last minute due to my surgery, my fashion week looks are now waiting to be worn! This is the first one I have put on, and I am so glad I did! I know if I had worn it at fashion week, I would have been very comfortable.

This dress is priced under $75, and embodies the current look for fall 2018. Love that! Fall florals are, once again, a huge trend. (Funny how they keep coming back!) The wrap silhouette is considered classic, but the relaxed vibe is on trend with fall’s western trend; which is casual and relaxed. I love how the dress looks with my western style booties!

Although full blown cowboy boots are du riguer, I decided to get a pair of boots for fall which evoke a western style vibe that is more urban than rodeo-ready. It just suits me better. These boots turned out to be a good buy! The leather is surprisingly soft; they feel more expensive than they are! The interior of the shoe is well padded and the arch hits in the right spot. They fit so well! I can walk for miles in the these boots. They would have been perfect in New York! <sigh>

I’m looking forward to wearing this dress often during the fall season. When temperatures drop, it will look cute with a moto jacket, or for even cooler weather, a fuzzy faux fur coat! Hmmmm. . .adding fuzzy faux fur coat to my winter shopping list. 😉

This outfit took me from lunch with my kids, to errands around town, and then to an evening meeting. It was really comfortable and flowed easily throughout the day to my different events. Love that!

The pants that slim you down

So if you have been following along, you know my goal at the beginning of the summer season was to lose ten pounds. Instead of losing ten, I lost five; and I am considering that a win because even though I didn’t reach my goal, I did lose something! Of course, I am still a little self-conscious of my weight. I haven’t been this heavy since I was five months pregnant, so I try to wear clothing that slims me down a few pounds; or at least hides my pounds! haha

I jumped for joy when Chico’s announced they were introducing a new “So Slimming Juliet” pant. I had never tried a slimming pant pant before, so I was intrigued! Although the pants come in classic hues such as black or navy, I decided to be bold and go for an animal print pant. I have never worn animal print pants before! Meow!

When the pants arrived, I was thrilled! There is a little hidden panel inside the front of the pants to smooth down the belly. The waist is also elastic; so if I gorge on lasagna-forgetting my diet-I won’t pop out of my pants. haha The fabric is really soft, and they are machine washable; so that is always a plus!

If you read my post last week, you already know I had surgery about a week ago. I had abdominal surgery so I was thrilled to see how soft these pants were; and to find a soft elastic waistband. They are perfect for me! My mom has been staying at my house to help me with the kids while my husband is at work, so she was here when I tried on the pants. Her eyes popped out of her head and she told me they work! She said they do slim me down! Love that!

The pants are not tight fitting, so they work over boots for the fall. Since I love to wear booties in the fall, this is a godsend! I wore this outfit on my first day out of the house after my surgery. It was so comfortable and I felt great! I also need to give this shrug a shout-out. I saw it in person when I was at Chico’s headquarters in August and it was beautiful! It comes in so many pretty colors, I may need to pick up a second one. It’s great when the fog rolls in, and it’s perfect for transitioning from summer into fall. Love!

If you are like me and want to slim down just a little bit, or you just want a machine washable, comfortable pair of pants that also happen to look fashionable, then I highly recommend trying out the So Slimming Juliet pants by Chico’s. You can find them online here.

Top 12 colors for spring 2019 from NYFW

spring 2019 color trends

Although we are still pining away for cooler temperatures so we can all wear our new fall clothing, the runways in New York are giving us the latest and greatest fashion for the spring 2019 season. Every season, color authority Pantone shows us the top colors designers ordered for dying the fabric they used in their newest collections.

Drum roll please. . . these are the hot new colors for spring 2019! Courtesy of Pantone! You can read the official report here.

The fall 2018 season has turned into a darker season then we expected. While designers showed vivid colors on their runways for fall and winter, store buyers opted for darker hues and filled shelves with an almost depressing array of color. Designers turned their nose up at this and are still showing brighter hues for the upcoming spring 2019 season. I love all the vivid colors in this report! Hopefully store buyers will get the hint and liven up store shelves next season with these beautiful hues!

My favorite colors from the spring 2019 color palette are “Princess Blue,” “Pink Peacock,” and “Sweet Lilac.” I feel like Sweet Lilac is the new Millennial Pink. Please raise your hand if you are sick of blush aka Millennial Pink?! My hand is waaaay up! I’m excited for more saturated versions of pink in the spring season!

Top neutral colors for spring 2019

Thank goodness there isn’t any black in this neutral color palette! While black is still walking down the spring runways in full force, it isn’t dominating the color palette like it ended up doing for fall. This spring, we can enjoy light neutrals such as “Soybean” and rich neutrals such as “Brown Granite.” I’m loving the earthy feel of those two colors and would love seeing them paired with the four fire hues shown above in the top 12 color report. Actually, I love brown with bright blue or pink too. It has a very early 1990s vibe which is still very relevant right now.

What do you think of the spring 2019 color report? Do you love or hate any of the colors? Which are your favorites?

Thanks for stopping by!
