Clear your schedule during New York Fashion Week, because I have your first invitation. The 13th annual Supima Design Competition will be hosted in a digital, dynamic format! You don’t need a coveted invitation this season, you can watch the runway, and competition, from home!

The Supima Design Competition supports emerging, talented design students from our top fashion schools to help them create fabulous capsule collection using Supima cotton fabrics. You will have the opportunity to view the collective, digital runway show online this season in September during New York Fashion Week. The winner of the competition will receive a $10,000 cash prize, as well as coveted industry recognition. It’s really an amazing show that I have enjoyed seeing in person in New York. It is really exciting to be able to view this show from home; and for you to have the opportunity to see it too! You will love it!

The six designers who earned a spot in this season’s runway show are:

  • Amanda Forastieri-Drexel University
  • Sakura Mizutani, FIDM
  • Jenny Feng-FIT
  • Jennie Nguyen, Kent State University
  • Terrence Zhou, Parsons School of Design
  • Kyra Buenviaje, Rhode Island School of Design

In addition to these six, fabulous designers, Bibhu Mohapatra will be returned for the sixth time as mentor to the finalists. Isn’t this amazing!!!

New York Fashion Week will be different in September

The show will go on! You may have heard New York Fashion Week is going to be a lot different this September. Instead of everyone flying into the big apple to watch the new spring/summer 2021 collection grace the runways at Spring Studios, Pier Studios, and other locations, we will be watching many of the shows live, from home, in our fuzzy slippers.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!

Yes, I am shouting because you get to watch NYFW too! This season, you don’t need that special, coveted invitation we all die for. You don’t need to watch blurry Instagram Stories, and scroll through twitter seeking iPhone photos with poor lighting to catch a glimpse of your favorite designers new looks. YOU can watch the shows with ME live! Online!

Now, not ALL designers will open up their livestreams for you, but many will. This means you will have some access to New York Fashion Week. So get your fuzzy slippers, and your coffee; because it’s going to be a really fun ride!

NYFW is currently scheduled for September 11-16, 2020. Be flexible, because these dates could move around a bit as designers and brands figure out how they will share their collections with you.
