Spring is here, and my hip has healed. Yay!! This means I can finally get back into a somewhat normal workout routine for the spring season. Of course, a healed hip does not give me carte-blanche to go back to the way I was working out last summer, I did end up with a little bit of collateral damage.

Once my hip had healed, I decided to go on a walk with some steep hills. This was not a good idea after having not been doing anything for three months. I ended up getting some sharp pains in the arch of my foot and have been dealing with an injury to my arch since November. Now that we are into the spring season, my foot is healing, and with proper orthotics inserted into my shoes, I can finally do a fitness routine seemingly close to how I normally workout.

In order to protect my planter fasciitis tendon, I need more than proper arch support, I need to insure I am doing exercises which will not put strain on my arch yet allow me to rebuild the muscle I may have lost from months of not working out at the level I previously enjoyed. This means low impact cardio, limited squats and lunges, and allowing for rest days in between heavy days. So, without further ado, here is my current spring fitness routine!

Monday: BodyCombat (I am doing this cardio kickboxing class without jumping or any impact. I am still getting a good workout and protecting my arch.)

Tuesday: 30-minute Core class and 50-minute yoga class (this allows me to not put pressure on my foot while still getting a little workout, building strength, and stretching out)

Wednesday: Spin class (this is low impact, and if I feel pressure underneath my foot, I can sit down during the standing portions of class. This is a great way to get a cardio workout while protecting my foot)

Thursday: Cardio machine such as the PhysioStep or LifeCycle, full free weight workout, 15-minutes of core work, and at least 20-minutes of stretching. This is a great way to control my workout and build strength without injuring myself.

Friday: 30-minute walk and stretching

Saturday: Rest, rest and rest!

Sunday: Hiking with my family, who is very understanding if I need to rest and/or stop

I finally got to dress up and go somewhere! Yay! Now that the pandemic is behind us, and the local mask mandate has eased, we have been able to enjoy what life was once like. This means formal affairs have returned!

Since I lost roughly forty pounds last year, none of my formal go-to dresses fit anymore. So, I had a good excuse to invest in one fabulous little black dress! Love that!

This little black dress was perfect for the event I went to, which was to honor my senior daughter and the work she has done in the community over the course of her high school career. Parents wore black, while daughters wore white, in order to ensure our daughters could shine. This dress code worked out perfectly since I firmly believe every woman should own at least one fabulous little black dress. You never know when you need a go-to dress last minute which can be worn for a cocktail event, or something more formal. Of course, it cannot work for black tie when dresses should be long, but it does work for most formal or dressy affairs. Love!

The event was held at the Corinthian Grand Ballroom in downtown San Jose. I was thrilled to find out how delicious the food at the venue was that evening! I enjoyed this halibut dish, which was so yummy, I cleaned my plate; even though, according to etiquette, you are supposed to leave a couple bites on the plate. I couldn’t help myself; this was delicious! Don’t worry, I didn’t scrape, and I did leave some asparagus, I’m not big on asparagus. haha

I am looking forward to future events where I can wear this little black dress again. It looks great with a classic Chanel bag or spiced up with a brightly colored bag and/or shoes. As you know, the little black dress gives you endless possibilities!

Spring is all about renewal, which means it is time to renew our signature scent! Rose based florals are hotter than hot right now in the world of fragrance. This means we all need to gravitate towards a rose based floral scent; unless of course, you detest rose. If that is the case, Chanel N.5 might be the fragrance for you since the rose is undetectable.

Other than Chanel N.5 edp, the other five fragrances I am showcasing in this post are beautiful florals scents which each have their own personality. Do you like gourmand scents? Are you more into fruity fragrances? Which type of fragrance floats your boat? I have to say, I love a fabulous gourmand or a fruity floral. Those are my two favorites. Of course, I never shy away from a timeless scent from Chanel. I plan on purchasing something new this season, preferably a sweet floral. I already own a fruity floral and a floral gourmand. Love!
