BAF Weekly IT List

trending for fall 2022

BAF Weekly IT List from top left: Classic black satchel / large hoop earrings (under $100) / summer nail polish / classic black shoulder bag (review here) / military green joggers / Dunk high sneakers / ivory moon shaped bag / classic black bucket bag /

Can you believe we are in August?!?! I cannot believe how fast this summer has gone! While it is still technically summer, vacation is almost over. This means the kids are about to go back to school! Ah! I feel like I blinked, and it is over!

Despite the ninety-degree temperatures outside, stores are starting to stock cozy sweaters, pants, and handbags in fall hues. Are you ready for fall? I sure am! I would love some foggy mornings and cooler days. Right now, the only way to feel a little bit of fall is to snap up a new handbag for the autumn season.

Remember when I said moon shaped bags were up and coming? Well, they are exploding this fall season. Don’t worry, if the moon shape isn’t your thing, bucket bags, hobo bags, shoulder bags, and top handle bags are still hotter than hot for the fall season. But, if you would like to rock the moon bag trend, there is a fabulous new one under $500 I am excited about! See that ivory moon bag above? I love it! Stay tuned for an upcoming review. . .

If you are looking for some great pieces you can wear now and well into the fall season, these joggers are perfect for flowing from season to season. In addition, these high top sneakers are great to wear now and into the fall season.

Do you like fleeting trends? There are two right now. One is “Barbiecore” which is basically wearing bright pink, and also “Coastal Grandmother” which is wearing linens or flowing casual looks that would be perfect for a foggy day at the beach. I’m not too into that last one. Those types of outfits swallow me whole as someone who is 5’4″ and needs to shorten most pants. I feel like that trend works better on tall people, but that’s just my opinion.

Shoulder Bags for fall 2022

shoulder bags fall 2022

Shoulder bags fall 2022 from top left: classic black bag (see my review here) (under $500) / caramel and chain strap bag (under $1000) / black square bag / dark brown and gold shoulder bag (under $1000) / floral clasp handbag (under $500) / ivory stamped croc handbag /

The pendulum is swinging back to classic and quiet handbags, and I am here for it! Logomania is tired. This fall is all about timeless quality; a move back towards investment dressing and understated luxury. No matter the price range, a chic box bag is the ultimate shoulder bag to carry this fall season. Love!

Shoulder bags for fall 2022 are structured, not soft. They also tend to be square, or close to being a square. If you see a shoulder bag which is an obvious rectangle, it belongs in the east/west category; which is also a chic silhouette for the fall season.

If you have been following along, you may have seen my review for the DeMellier Vancouver bag. This is my new shoulder bag for fall and I am in love with it! The pebbled leather is soft, yet the bag offers that classic and on trend structure we all crave this fall season. Since I purchased a black bag, I may add another structured shoulder bag from the above collage in another color. I love the ivory bag and maybe something in caramel or light beige.

You might be asking yourself if your Chanel flap or 2.55 will work for the fall season, and if you have one, you the answer is yes! Although the classic Chanel shoulder bags tend to be rectangles, they are structured and classic. You can rock them during the day as well as into the evening. So, stop letting them accumulate dust in your closet and wear them! I have a chocolate brown classic flap I plan to pull out for fall. Maybe my ivory 2.55 too.

Another thing this fall, we are going back to wearing our handbags on our shoulders, not cross body. Of course, if you are running errands or chasing a small child, by all means, wear your bag cross body and free up those hands! If not, it’s time to go back to wearing your bag on your shoulder. That’s what’s hot!

SFO Museum From Pineapple to Pina review

How beautiful are these textiles?! I am in love! A few weeks ago, I flew in and out of SFO. If you have ever flown in and out of SFO, you may already know that our airport has an amazing museum program where they rotate special exhibits throughout the terminals. I have to admit, I normally walk past the majority of the exhibits when I am at the airport. I tend to focus on getting to my gate, or if I am arriving, I focus on getting to my ride or baggage claim. This last time was different.

Instead of traveling with my entire family, or alone for business, I was only with my now college-age daughter. We arrived early for our red eye flight, so my eyes began to wander as we walked towards our gate. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I spotted the beautiful textiles on display in the SFO Museum “From Pineapple to Pina” exhibit. Wow! This was in an airport? What???

I quickly gravitated towards the exhibit, much to the confusion of my daughter. She wasn’t aware of the SFO Museum since I usually walked right past it. I am so glad we stopped this time! The textiles are absolutely amazing. Can you believe these delicate and intricate fabrics are handmade and woven out of pineapple leaves thread? It really is mind-blowing.

Next time you take a trip through SFO, arrive a little bit early and give yourself time to enjoy the exhibits throughout the airport. You never know what magical exhibit you might find! You can learn more about the SFO Museum and this exhibit at SFOMuseum.org.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy travels!
