Exploring the PA State Capitol

Landed in Harrisburg! We took a red eye flight into Harrisburg last week and as soon as we arrived, we headed straight to the Capitol to explore. Last time I was in Harrisburg, it was just my daughter and me. This trip included the entire family, so we took them to the capitol to enjoy the beautiful interior design.
While touring the capitol, we were able to watch the house in session and see how they present bills and vote. It was really fascinating to watch some bills go straight down party lines and others pass with a majority. Since PA is a swing state, bills that pass are truly bipartisan. I wish we had that luxury in California. . .but I digress. . .
After seeing the capitol building, we were on our way to the museum when a huge rainstorm started. There really wasn’t a build-up. The rain didn’t sprinkle and give us time to take cover; it just exploded out of the sky. In addition, there was thunder and lightning in less than minute after the sky opened up. Needless to say, our umbrellas did not suffice, and we were drenched. We went back to change our cloths and wait out the storm.
By the time the storm stopped, the museum was closed. We decided to head out to dinner and then take a walk afterwards. We enjoyed a delicious meal across from the capitol at Sammy’s Authentic Italian Restaurant. All five of us finished our plates, the food was so good! I enjoyed the Veal Marsala-highly recommend if you stop in!
There is a lot of history in Harrisburg, I hope to go back someday and check out the museum! If you visit, be sure to tour the capitol building, visit the museum, take a walking tour and explore the historic buildings, and enjoy a fabulous meal at Sammy’s. Love!
Thanks for stopping by!
