iFABBO held their first social media conference in San Francisco on October 12, 2013. This amazing conference featured panelists who discussed the business of blogging which included monetization, social media strategies and the future of blogging. The conference also introduced beauty and fashion brands to local bloggers. We had the opportunity to check out beauty products and apparel in person while speaking with brand representatives who could answer our questions and offer product samples for review.

Of course the day was not just about business! It was amazing to meet other local beauty and fashion bloggers as well as reconnect with bloggers whom I have met in the past both in-person and online. I loved making new friends while learning more about the business and future of blogging!

If you have a beauty, style or fashion blog and you are not part of iFABBO, please check them out! iFABBO is a fabulous organization which can help you navigate the ever-changing blogosphere. To learn more please visit ifabbo.com.

Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Foundation Powder review

Photos: c/o Laura Mercier “Smooth Finish Foundation Powder” color #5

Laura Mercier “Smooth Finish Foundation Powder” is a new line of finishing powder from Laura Mercier! This new collection of foundation powder is offered in a large variety of skin tone’s and can act as a powder or a foundation; or both! Love that!

I tested out color #5 and loved it. On a daily basis I prefer to only wear powder. I usually wear foundation and concealer for special occasions or at night. My skin is acne prone so I have always found the less I put on it, the better! I love Laura Mercier’s “Smooth Finish Foundation Powder” because you have the option to apply it light, medium or heavy. The powder offers a lot of coverage without showing any traces of itself on the face. Love that!

In the video below I show how I applied Laura Mercier’s “Smooth Finish Foundation Powder” with a powder brush. My application was light to medium. The powder instantly covered my uneven skin tone due to sun damage and also my acne. As a thirty-something, covering up my acne is imperative! Acne is embarrassing at my age!

The “Smooth Finish Foundation Powder” by Laura Mercier can also be applied with a sponge. If the sponge is damp you can use it to apply the powder in lieu of liquid foundation. When dampened, the sponge with the powder offers full coverage; as if you were wearing liquid foundation but without the weight!

I am really excited to use Laura Mercier’s “Smooth Finish Foundation Powder” on a daily basis. It is really easy to apply, overs a lot of coverage, is lightweight and is really fast to apply! Love that!

Laura Mercier’s “Smooth Finish Foundation Powder” is priced at $45 and can be found online here, here and here.

Fall/winter 2013/2014 street style trend: monogram

One of the biggest trends on the street right now is monogram. Fashionistas are monogramming everything from handbags to jewelry to sweaters. This personalization trend has not enjoyed such a bounce in popularity since SATC!

Monogrammed items fade in and out of style. Monogrammed sweaters were huge in the 50’s and 60’s, while the 1980’s enjoyed monogrammed necklaces and sweaters. Initials graced handbags and luggage in the 1980’s and 1990’s while “Sex and the City” gave new life to monogrammed necklaces in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. In 2004 the ultimate “IT” handbag was a color blocked shoulder bag with a single initial on the front. Since then, the monogram has faded towards the back of every Fashionistas closet; until now.

As we head towards winter 2014 and the holiday 2013 season, the monogram is huge. Not only are Fashionistas buying monogrammed items for themselves, monograms will be the hottest gifts to give, and receive, this upcoming holiday season. So, if your closet is lacking in the personalization department, this is the perfect time to pick up a monogram necklace, clutch or sweater. This is also the perfect time to start placing orders for personal, monogrammed holiday gifts! Love it!

I found a few fabulous items around the web you can personalize for yourself or that special someone this holiday season. Hope you love them! Happy shopping, and stay fabulous 😉
