Asia Fashion Collection, which is a global incubation project, showed the fall/winter 2014/2015 collections from their designers at New York Fashion Week on Saturday, February 8, 2014. The designers showed a vast array of artistic collections which offered a mixture of commercial appeal, avant-garde looks and a fusion of both.

Three of the designers were from Vantan Tokyo and three were hand selected by PARCO. The emerging designers who showed their fall/winter 2014/2015 collection during Asia Fashion Collection’s show at New York Fashion Week included:

VIANAD ViVi joanne Anais dorsbien by Suzuki Mark (Vantan Design Institute)
ViVijoanne and Anais.  Elegant and sweet fictional sisters are based on an imaginary scene from a romance movie.  The feeling of dreaming a story translates to the feeling of wearing a story; a brand in which garments transform women dramatically.

AUSTIN. W by Tzu-Yun Wu (Taiwan)
Calm, cool, and neutral tones with a touch of futuristic gray marks the image of this brand. I create infinite possibilities through digital prints that appear every season, combining sophisticated silhouettes with simplicity.

HANG by Mim Mak (Hong Kong)
Founded in 2012, Hang presents a collection of stark blacks and winter whites focused on shapes.  Raw edges and sheen are paired with graceful hemlines that articulate movement.

Designs reminiscent of dancing under the moonlight.  Luxury clothes in leathers, wools and silks, shine in the dark. Rock is the root of the brand that emulates hard elegance.

R-SHEMISTE by Won Ji Yeun (Korea)
Modern, innovative combinations of fabric and textile, accentuate the unique quality of materials.

SEi by Sei Yumiko (Vantan Design Institute)
Haute couture knitwear.  “Fascinate the you in yourself. I will give you the one and only seam – the seam that links you to yourself.”  Remember more; imagine more. If you have what it takes to throw it all away, dare to be wilder.

Photo: Cathy/Bay Area Fashionista 2014© My apologies for the poor quality of my photo.

Monique Lhuillier sent her fall/winter 2014/2015 collection down the New York Fashion Week runway on Saturday, February 8, 2014. The collection was dreamy and filled with flowing gowns, dramatic fabrications and a classic color palette with occasional pops of fuchsia. Of course, my photos do not do the gowns justice. The lighting was no match for my amateur photography skills! Thankfully there is a press video from IMG Fashion at the bottom of this article which showcases the beauty of Monique Lhuillier’s fall/winter 2014/2015 collection on the runway.

The black cocktail dress with gold applique and the black gown with fuchsia details were my two favorite looks on the runway. Which ones were yours?

A New York Fashion Week look: Friday

Friday was my busiest day at New York Fashion Week. I attended five shows and was stopped a few times on the street by photographers. This was the first time photographers stopped me to take pictures and I was thoroughly baffled on how to act! I stopped and smiled, but completely forgot to ask them who they worked for! Only one photographer offered up her publication. I have to admit, the whole experience was flattering! The compliments I received were towards my Milly skirt and Rebecca Minkoff handbag. Due to this experience, I will be wearing both of these items well through spring, and possibly into summer too! How could I not?!

My shoes are from the fall 2009 Prada runway and I could not be more thankful for them! I brought them and wore them at fashion week because they have a lug sole which grips the ice and snow; keeping me safe from falls! In addition to the traction, they are extremely comfortable despite the pitch of the heel. This is a necessity since I have to stand in line before the shows and New York, in general, requires a lot of walking!

Friday was an amazing day since I was able to see Carmen Marc Valvo, Rebecca Minkoff, Lee Jean Youn, Academy of Art and Emerson. The designs on the runways were amazing and I was thrilled to have a sneak peek into the upcoming trends for the fall/winter 2014/2015 season! Just from Friday, I was already able to spot the importance of classic red and medium blue for the fall season.

There are many more shows to see, so at the end of it all, I will have a complete trend report for you! Thank you so much for your support and stay tuned for more coverage from New York!
