Essie No More Film nail polish review

essie no more film nail polish review

nail polish c/o Essie No More Film (bottle from the holiday mini gift set, regular size bottle is part of the regular collection and linked to in this post)

One of the four colors from Essie’s holiday gift set was “No More Film.” This beautiful, dark purple hue also happens to be part of Essie’s regular nail polish collection. I am so thrilled to have a bottle of it; this color is divine!

While No More Film by Essie was a fabulous holiday hue, it really is perfect for winter, and the upcoming spring season. This spring, nail polish hues will range from feminine pinks to vampy charcoals and purples. Essie No More Film nail polish is perfect to wear now, in the winter season, and also as a transition nail polish into spring. Love!

I tested out Essie No More Film nail polish with one base coat, two coats of color, and no top coat. The polish lasted eight days before my nail growth was too much to handle. This polish did not chip! Nail polish that does not chip, when in a dark color, is a life saver. Nothing irks me more than dark nail polish which is chipped. Essie No More Film will be my go-to dark polish for the rest of winter, and in early spring. I am in love!

When my little mini bottle runs out, I plan to pick up a full size bottle. No More Film by Essie is a beautiful purple hue. Obsessed!

You can find Essie No More Film nail polish, in a regular size bottle, online here.

Spring stripes on a winter day

Wearing: Kendra Scott earrings / Chanel spring lipstick / Striped reversible poncho (on major sale!!) / Gap long sleeve tee in white (on sale!) / Kendra Scott ring / nail polish c/o Essie No More Film / Gap jeans (on major sale!!) / Mansur Gavriel bag (color sold out but mini patent pink version here) / booties (old, also love this pair)

Stripes, stripes, and more stripes! Stripes were the dominant pattern on the spring 2017 runways in New York last September. So it is no surprise that stripes are already everywhere. I happen to be a huge fan of stripes, so this is a trend I am riding until the bitter end!

This poncho has turned out to be a fabulous purchase. Not only does it have spring-like, nautical stripes, it is reversible! I didn’t realize it was reversible until I got it home and read the tag. The inside is a medium grey hue, which is perfect to pair with skinny black jeans, and heels, for a winter night out. Can’t wait to wear it!

Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, we have winter days which offer moderate temperatures around 50 or 60. On a moderate day, a poncho over a long sleeve tee is perfect to stay warm and cozy. This poncho is ideal for moderate weather, as well as integrating spring 2017 trends into my cold weather wardrobe. Love that!

I wore this outfit over winter break when we took the kids to the Tech Museum in downtown San Jose. If you have never been, it is a must-see! It is a fun place to visit whether you are a kid or an adult. There is also an IMAX theater there which we have yet to visit. Future family outing 🙂

Fitness goals for the new year

Fitness gear wish list: grey sweatshirt / striped leggings / sports bra / grey tank top / running shoes (my favorite!) / gym bag (under $90!)

Happy 2017! Now that the holiday season is over, it is time to get back to my fitness routine. Last year, my goal was to workout five days per week, and lose fifteen pounds. I was not able to stick to the five day per week workout goal, but I did lose ten of those fifteen pounds! So that is a win!

Since I still have five pounds of last year’s weight loss goal to go, I am going to set a new goal for 2017. This year I would like to lose another ten pounds. As far as my workout routine goes, I am going for a more realistic goal of four gym days per week.

I am still homeschooling my middle child, and she would like to continue homeschool next year, so I have to consider her school schedule when I create a workout schedule for myself. She is my number one priority during the day, so my schedule requires a little help from my Mom, who watches my daughter when I have other matters to attend to.

Here is my goal, fitness schedule:

Monday: The Drop. This is a cardio interval training class which combines plyometrics, core strengthening, cardio segments, and strength training without weights. It is a 45 minute class which is doable.

Tuesday: 30 minute walk around the neighborhood with my daughter.

Wednesday: Rest. Wednesdays are busy days for all three of my kids. I am a “mom taxi” on Wednesdays, No time for a workout for me!

Thursday: Spin. This is an interval class. Interval workouts should be done twice per week for a healthy heart.

Friday: BodyCombat. This is a cardio kickboxing class which is high intensity cardio. It targets all muscle groups, and burns about 700 calories. Love!

Saturday: BodyPump followed by Adv Step. BodyPump is a choreographed weight workout, and Adv Step is a cardio class. I am always sore after doing these two classes; but combined, I burn over 900 calories. Love!

When putting a workout schedule together, it is important to combine strength training, interval training, and cardio into the schedule. This was my goal when I devised this schedule. Fingers crossed I don’t get so busy I can’t stick to this schedule!

As for my weight loss goal of ten pounds, I am continuing to use the MyFitnessPal app from the app store. It tracks my calories and workouts; helping me stay on track. You can also have friends on the app which is a fun way to share your milestones, and goals, with friends who have similar goals. Feel free friend me on the app! I’m CathyLSG.

What are your fitness and/or weight goals for the new year?
