Over the Labor Day weekend, we had temperatures ranging from 95 to 108 degrees. We tend to get a heatwave this time of year every year, but this time, it seemed worse. In 2008, we moved from San Jose to Saratoga and it was 105 degrees the day we moved. Our movers were so tired from the heat, they stopped bringing furniture upstairs! It was kind of a nightmare to move in such extreme heat. I could never live in an area where these types of temperatures are considered normal. Thank goodness this only happens about once per year.

In order to escape the heat over the weekend, we went north to San Francisco. The city is usually a bit cooler then the south bay, so we hoped for bearable temperatures, and maybe even some fog. Of course the day we went, the temperature in the city was about 90, and the humidity was crazy high! My early fall outfit turned out to be a little bit warm for the conditions. This fun cape tee was perfect, but the jeans were a little too thick. Oh well, that’s life, right?!

Despite the heat and humidity, we managed to have a lot of fun. We took the kids to Chinatown; which is a part of the city we don’t normally think of taking the kids. There aren’t any “kid” destinations there; mainly shops, restaurants, and lanterns. The kids loved the shops and the overall vibe of Chinatown. I was afraid they wouldn’t like the crowded, hustle-and-bustle of this part of town, but they loved it!

Since we were in Chinatown, we knew we had to grab some dim sum. We stopped in at Peninsula Seafood Restaurant on Jackson, which offered us a wait time of thirty minutes for a table of five. It turned out to be a forty-five minute wait, but it was so worth it! The food was delicious, and my kids were in dim sum heaven. I definitely want to go back for more!

After we ate, we made the kids walk up to Coit Tower to check out the view. It was overcast, so not much of a view; but still a good walk, and the kids had fun. I thought it was so cute when the kids asked when we are going back to Chinatown! Looks like I have some city slickers on my hands! We will definitely go back sometime soon.

Did you have a heat wave over Labor Day weekend? What were your temps and how did you escape the heat?

Thanks for stopping by!

XOXO

Spring 2018 Color Palette | Top 12 colors for spring

New York Fashion Week spring 2018 has begun! This means we have a whole new world of color to look forward to when the new, warm weather season is upon us. Pantone has announced the top 12 colors from the spring 2018 color palette, according to designers in New York; and they are fabulous!

In past seasons, Pantone has announced the top 10 colors for spring. This year instead of sticking to 10, we have the top 12 colors for spring 2018. In addition to 12 colors in the spring 2018 color palette, Pantone has announced the top 4 classic colors for spring 2018. This is groundbreaking!

The classic hues we will see this spring 2018 will be navy, pale grey, pale beige, and off-white. Otherwise known as “Sailor Blue,” “Harbor Mist,” “Warm Sand,” and “Coconut Milk.” I guess the fancy names always sounds better. haha

These timeless colors, which happen to be hot for spring, will compliment the seasonal colors from Pantone’s top 12 color palette. The top 12 colors for spring include cheery hues which are vivid yet not bright. We are moving away from muted tones, and neon tones. Spring 2018 will be more of a “true color” type of season with hues that reflect a happy mood.

Since this is the time of year when we are looking at our spring and summer wardrobes, deciding what to keep or give away, this spring 2018 color palette gives us a guide as to what we should hang onto for next year, and what we should sell or donate. If you have any clothing, shoes, or handbags which fit into the spring 2018 color palette, be sure to hang onto them for next year! In fact, since the weather is still warm, be sure to rock these items now! You will be a year ahead of the fashion timeline. Love that!

Some designers have begun showing their spring/summer 2018 collections today in New York. I will arrive in New York on Friday and start to bring you live coverage of the shows! Stay tuned for more trends from New York for the upcoming spring and summer 2018 season!

What do you think of the spring 2018 color palette? Which color is your favorite?

Chanel Rose Prodigious nail polish review

Chanel Rose Prodigious nail polish review fall

pictured: Chanel Rose Prodigious nail polish

Chanel Rose Prodigious nail polish is a sparkling, cherry red nail polish hue. Don’t let the word “Rose” in the name fool you! This is the perfect holiday red despite the fact that is was introduced in the pre-fall season!

Now, there are many species of red roses on this planet. It is entirely possible that one of those roses is this exact color; but from a nail polish stand-point, this hue is often referred to as cherry red. Chanel Rose Prodigious nail polish might be a classic cherry red, but it is not a common cherry red. This one has a few slight sparkles, and pinkish undertones! These quiet sparkles give Chanel Rose Prodigious nail polish some dimension; making it an interesting, and pretty nail polish color. Love!

If you like cherry red nail polish, and Chanel’s fall nail polish colors are too edgy for you, Rose Prodigious is a great color to wear now, and throughout the fall/winter/holiday season. I am going to keep it for later on in the season. I think it is perfect for the holidays!

You can find Chanel Rose Prodigious nail polish is limited edition and can be found online here. What do you think of the color?

Thanks for stopping by!
