Winter workout routine and New Year fitness changes

New Year fitness gear wishlist: black sweatshirt / sky print sports bra / Nike running shoes / gym backpack / sky print leggings

Can you believe we are ten days into the new year! With the new year, comes new goals and resolutions. If you missed it last week, you can read about mine here. One of my goals was to stay on track with my workout schedule. The fall season was especially challenging when I hurt my neck, and then decided to home-school my son, in addition to my middle child. My entire routine was thrown for a loop!

When you have an injury, and a life change, there is suddenly new stress. I was stressed because I couldn’t do my five workouts per week, and I was stressed out because I had to add a 4th grade curriculum to my already busy 6th grade home-school curriculum. I suddenly found myself teaching long division to my son, and how to solve equations with two variables to my daughter, at the same time. Oh my! It’s tough juggling two curriculum’s.

Thankfully, I can say with confidence that I have my routine down pat now; and since my neck injury is healed, I have been back on track with my fitness routine! Yay!

Since my days are really full with home-schooling and work, I have to be more flexible when it comes to my workout routine. Here is my new routine for the New Year, and winter season:

Mondays: BodyCombat  (cardio)

Tuesday: Spin Class (cardio-internval)

Wednesday: Home workout. 30 minutes cardio, 30 minutes strength

Thursday: Rest day

Friday: Insanity (Interval-Strength)

Saturday: BodyPump and Step or treadmill and weights; depending on my kids schedule

Sunday: Family fitness activity outside. Hiking, etc.

This is my ideal winter workout schedule, of course, my schedule can get crazy, and I may miss a class here or there. On days when I miss a class, I do a treadmill workout, or a home workout I designed for myself.

My home workout includes 30 minutes of cardio, and 30 minutes of strength exercises. It is great on days when I am pressed for time and need to squeeze in my workout at funny times during the day. I can even split it up; do the cardio in the morning, then the strength later in the day. Sometimes you have to be creative when your life is a giant juggle!

What are you doing for workouts this winter season?

Thanks for stopping by!

Cozy faux fur on a winter day

wearing: bold blue earrings / Bobbi Brown lipstick “Lilac” / cozy faux fur coat / light blue scarf / long sleeve tee / Gucci Marmont Lady Bag (spring 2018!) / boyfriend jeans / Chanel spring nail polish / lace up boots (on major sale!)

So, if you have been following me for the past few winters, you may have noticed I am huge fan of faux fur. I love how funky, faux fur jackets and coats can be. They really elevate an otherwise casual, everyday look into something fabulous.

I originally chose this faux fur coat to wear with an evening jumpsuit I plan to wear later this month for my wedding anniversary, but I couldn’t wait to wear it. It is so cozy, and it fits so well! Plus, the price is so affordable! Love that!

We took these pictures in Capitola before enjoying brunch at Zelda’s last weekend. It is one of our favorite beachside restaurants, and we ate such a yummy meal. I had the bacon and eggs scramble, which was delicious, and my husband enjoyed the Eggs Benedict. Normally when we eat at Zelda’s, I order the Eggs Benedict, so I can attest that it is quite delicious. These are definitely my two favorite brunch dishes from Zelda’s in Capitola. If you’re local, I highly recommend trying them out; and ask for a table by the window. The view of the ocean is beautiful.

After brunch, we listened to music by the beach at the veranda and watched people trying to ice skate on a plastic ice rink. Um, it didn’t look very easy, so we decided not to try it. Have you tried skating on a plastic ice rink before? How was it?

That afternoon we took the kids to “The Mystery Spot” in Santa Cruz. Now, this is total tourist attraction, which is purely for entertainment. The whole thing was designed for fun; there isn’t really a mystery. That being said, I don’t want to spoil it for you if you have not been there, and everyone has to go at least once in their lifetime! The kids had so much fun, and our tour guide had the best jokes. It was really a lot of fun!

This was our last staycation day before school started up again. Our weekends for the next few weeks are full of the kids activities; and then I head to fashion week! Whoo-hoo!

What are some of your favorite staycation activities where you live?

Thanks for stopping by!

Spring 2018 handbag trends: white handbags

spring 2018 handbag trends white handbags

off-white and white handbags spring 2018 from top left: shoulder bag with brass ring (hot IT bag-I own this in black and love it!) / tote with metal handle / Prada shoulder bag / white box shoulder bag / cross body circle bag (under $500!) / off-white mini tote bag / net covered handbag (hot IT bag-under $400) / Gucci lady bag ( I bought this one for spring!)

Spring is starting to hit store shelves, and we are beginning to get a glimpse of what buyers favored from the runways last September. White was a huge runway trend. The all-white look dominated so many collections in New York last fall. It was one of the big runway trends, and I am happy to see it hitting store shelves; and the streets!

Along with the white trend from the runways, comes the white handbag trend! White handbags are huge this spring 2018 season. This is one of the bigger trends in handbags for the upcoming warm weather season. Designers are showing both stark white, and off-white; so if bright, blinding white isn’t your thing, never fear, off-white is just as fabulous for spring!

White alone, does not make an IT bag for the spring 2018 season. In addition to white, you will need to watch for certain styles, and brands, to hit the spring 2018 IT bag jackpot. The hottest handbag styles for spring 2018 will include the continuation of the quilted shoulder bag, the cross body circle bag, small box bags, and that fabulous net covered bag shown above. It’s a huge IT bag by the way 😉

The upcoming handbag trends for spring 2018, which are gaining popularity, include the small lady bag-with a detachable shoulder strap, and the tote bag. Tote bags are making a comeback as more then just a beach bag, or diaper bag alternative. They are replacing large satchels for the office, and they are also being used as daily handbags. Any size tote is hot for spring! Just grab the size you need for your lifestyle, and you’re set! Love that!

There are thousands of fabulous white, and off-white handbags for spring 2018 on store shelves, as we speak. I carefully chose the hottest white, and off-white bags from around the web, and placed them in the collage above; as well as the shopping widget below. These bags offer the current IT silhouettes, from the current IT brands. You know me, I’m all about the IT bag!

If you are looking to be on trend this spring 2018, but want to make sure you buy more of an investment bag, rather then a trendy silhouette, stick to tote bags, lady bags, and quilted shoulder bags. You will love the longevity of your investment! I have an off-white quilted shoulder bag from over twelve years ago which is still relevant. Investment bags are key!
