Trends for spring 2019 from New York Fashion Week

What would I do without my crew? If you have been following along, you know I had to suddenly cancel my trip to New York Fashion Week due to a medical emergency. I was planning on traveling to New York with three of my fabulous blogger buddies; Dawn from Fashion Should Be Fun, Laura from Have-Need-Want, and Kali from In Spades Blog. Unfortunately my plans fell through due to my health.

After my emergency room visit I kept my friends in the loop until I knew for certain if I would miss fashion week. It was clear after a couple of days there was no way I could travel to New York, so my friends flew into action and covered different shows for me so that I could still get photos and also know what was actually on the runway; and how the fabrics looked in person. This is why I go to fashion week, there is only so much you can decipher from a photograph. Seeing the fabrics in person, and watching them flow down the runway, helps craft the vibe of a collection and an entire season.

With a little help from my friends this season, I was able to forecast a few fabulous trends for the spring 2019 season, and be able to share them with you! I apologize for not having my usual full coverage, and the street style posts I promised, but I will be back in New York next February and will ensure full coverage of the shows and the streets!

Spring 2019 is proving to be a re-birth of sorts. We are seeing designers favor happier silhouettes and brighter hues. There is an earthy vibe combined with a free-spirited 1980s party vibe. The power suit is back with a vengeance, and our minds are instantly taken back to images of the 1980s when women wore a power suit with power pumps, and big hair. While the power suit was dominant on Wall Street in the 1980s, in 2019, look for it morphing into more of a dinner look, evening look, and anytime you want to flex your power look.

Bright colors dominated the runways, in sharp contrast to the softer hues we have been seeing in past seasons. Blush or “Millenial Pink” has been replaced with a more vivid shade of pink, while neutrals have softened and lightened up. You can read my full post on the spring 2019 color trends here. Of course, my favorite color of the season is blue.

Sparkle and shine like it’s Studio 54 time! The late 1970s and early 1980s party vibe appeared once again on the runways for spring 2019. Designers loved any type of fabric with a sheen to it. They used everything from clear plastic to sequins to metallic threads to create pieces which catch the light, and shine bright. You can sparkle and shine at any time during the day, so wear your sequins to brunch and shimmering skirt to lunch; it’s time to shine!

Ball and chain got you down? It could be because you saw an awful lot of prison stripes on the runways for spring 2019! Perhaps appearing to be locked up is the new trend. This spring 2019, look for bold, black and white stripes alone, or mixed with other stripes and/or prints. Be bold, and wear your stripes proudly; just don’t let the cops see you or they’ll take you back 😉

Trench coats are a classic piece many of us have stuffed in the back of our closet. They started to emerge as more than a classic piece last year, and for spring 2019, the classic trench has taken on new life. When the weather warms up early next year, look to invest in one statement making trench. You can rock this trend with a lightweight, avant-garde trench coat to top off your spring looks, or wear one as a dress! Either way, the trench could be your most important investment next spring.

Well, that is only five trends from the runways which stood out to me during New York Fashion Week this season. As store buyers decide what will sell, and what won’t sell, we will get a better snapshot of what’s to come in spring 2019! What do you think of these five trends? Which ones will you wear and which ones will you skip?

Londontown nail polish fall 2018 review

Londtown nail polish collection fall 2018 from left c/o Londontown: Londontown Vendetta / Londontown Jane Austen / Londontown Iconic / Londontown Kissed by Rose Gold / (USE CODE BayAreaFashionista TO SAVE 25%)

The fall 2018 nail polish collection from Londontown has arrived! These colors are so much fun; and right in line with the current color palette from the autumn season. Love!

The dark hues we are seeing in fall fashion right now are slightly vampy; this makes Vendetta a great nail polish for pairing with darker hues. The bright red shade is perfect for offsetting dark color palettes. Iconic is a bright blue which is ideal for pairing with fall’s brighter colors, while Kissed by Rose Gold and Jane Austen  are great alternatives to beige or neutral nail polish colors. Love this collection!

Londontown nail polishes are 9-free, which makes them easy to wear knowing they aren’t packed with harmful chemicals. Love! Without further ado, here are the house hues from the Londontown fall 2018 nail polish collection.

Londontown Iconic nail polish fall 2018

You know blue is my favorite color, so there is no question that I am in love with this bright blue for fall. Londontown Iconic nail polish is a fabulous, shiny blue hue which is bright and eye catching. It is a fabulous contrast to fall’s dark hues, and it also compliments the bright 1980s colors we are seeing this season in apparel. This is a great color to wear if you like to switch up your wardrobe and wear vampy black one day, and bright colors the next day.

Londontown Kissed By Rose Gold nail polish fall 2018

I love a good, metallic nail polish. Londontown Kissed By Rose Gold is a really pretty, sparkling rose gold nail polish. It’s a beautiful color for fall, and acts just like a neutral. Kissed By Rose Gold plays well with silver, yellow gold, or rose gold jewelry; so you don’t have to worry about mixing metals, it just works!

Since neutral nail polish colors such as beige or nude are not my jam, Londontown Kissed By Rose Gold for fall 2018 is the perfect answer to the neutral question. Plus, who doesn’t love a little sparkle?

Londontown Jane Austen nail polish fall 2018

If you are looking for a neutral color this fall season, and a metallic hue such as Kissed By Rose Gold isn’t your style, Londontown Jane Austen nail polish is perfect. This is my favorite color from the fall 2018 collection. It’s an unusual, pale lilac hue which is edgier than blush, pale pink, or lavender. It’s a cream polish which glides on smoothly and leaves a saturated color in two coats. I love this color!

Londontown Vendetta nail polish fall 2018

Red is the IT nail polish color for fall 2018. If you want to wear what’s hot, and be on trend, this is the color for you. It’s a bright red color which is slightly vampy, and offers a mild pink undertone. Londontown Vendetta is the perfect answer for fall if classic red polish is your jam, or wearing the IT nail color of the season is your goal.

I tested out all four colors with one base coat, and two coats of color. I did not use a top coat. As always, Londontown nail polishes are very chip resistant; and they happen to be 9-free and vegan. The polishes all offer streak-free applications, which have good color saturation. I also love the application brushes which are flat. The flat brushes make it easy to apply the polish without it getting all over your skin. Love that!

Easy breezy fall floral dress

fall 2018 floral trend affordable fall floral dress fall boots and fall bagfall florals

wearing: bold gold statement earrings / lipstick / fall floral dress (under $75!) / black leather and rose gold watch / blue fall nail polish / black statement ring for fall / black mini satchel / distressed black western style boots /

Despite all the color on the fall 2018 runways in New York, store buyers have opted for a darker color palette this autumn season. As a fan of black, I am not arguing; and instead, find myself embracing the darker hues.

This black floral dress, and entire outfit, was going to be one of my New York Fashion Week outfits. Since I wasn’t able to go at the last minute due to my surgery, my fashion week looks are now waiting to be worn! This is the first one I have put on, and I am so glad I did! I know if I had worn it at fashion week, I would have been very comfortable.

This dress is priced under $75, and embodies the current look for fall 2018. Love that! Fall florals are, once again, a huge trend. (Funny how they keep coming back!) The wrap silhouette is considered classic, but the relaxed vibe is on trend with fall’s western trend; which is casual and relaxed. I love how the dress looks with my western style booties!

Although full blown cowboy boots are du riguer, I decided to get a pair of boots for fall which evoke a western style vibe that is more urban than rodeo-ready. It just suits me better. These boots turned out to be a good buy! The leather is surprisingly soft; they feel more expensive than they are! The interior of the shoe is well padded and the arch hits in the right spot. They fit so well! I can walk for miles in the these boots. They would have been perfect in New York! <sigh>

I’m looking forward to wearing this dress often during the fall season. When temperatures drop, it will look cute with a moto jacket, or for even cooler weather, a fuzzy faux fur coat! Hmmmm. . .adding fuzzy faux fur coat to my winter shopping list. 😉

This outfit took me from lunch with my kids, to errands around town, and then to an evening meeting. It was really comfortable and flowed easily throughout the day to my different events. Love that!
