The pops of color are starting to creep into our spring closets, and I am here for it! Keep investing in shades of blue, green, and pink as we move from spring into summer. They will be great add-ons to our neutral wardrobes, and also with each other!

That’s right! Color combos are back! As we move towards summer, look at matching your colors together and start seeing blue, green, pink, orange and yellow as neutrals in need of additional color. Street style is getting brighter and more light-hearted. Get ready!

That being said, the anonymous handbag is still king, so stay far away from logos; just add color! When it comes to handbags and shoes, only add one or two colors. Neutral hued handbags are always easier to incorporate into your wardrobe and will inevitably get worn more often. When you do add a color, pick your favorite hue which you feel you will wear the most often. For me, that’s blue followed by green or yellow. While I would love a bag in another hue, I know it won’t get worn very often.

Places to eat in Washington DC

We had so much fun on our recent trip to Washington DC. Of course, we enjoyed our meals at some of the places we chose to eat lunch or dinner at. So, I thought I would share my five favorite restaurants in Washington DC from our recent spring break trip!

Pastis DC

Pastis DC is a French restaurant located in the Union Market district at 1323 4th St. NE. They have a lot of yummy choices on their menu, and the wine selection is really good. I really enjoyed my Beef Stroganoff, and my daughter enjoyed her pasta dish. It was fun to eat in a quaint setting which felt French! Even if our entree choices were more European than specifically French. Loved it!

Old Ebbitt Grill

Old Ebbitt Grill is an historical restaurant located near the White House. It attracts politicians, locals and tourists alike. We even saw secret service there! I have no clue who they were there for, but it was fun seeing them securing the area. It’s no wonder it has been popular since 1856, the food is delicious! I enjoyed their famous crab cake, and my daughter loved her pasta dish. I can’t wait to go back someday! Old Ebbitt Grill is located at 675 15th St NW. I recommend making reservations as it gets really busy.

Sushi Sato

We love sushi, so of course we had to find a place! Located in a lively historic neighborhood, Sushi Sato had happy hour selections and an all you can eat menu. We ordered off the regular menu and loved our meal. Sushi Sato is located at 1245 H St NE. I recommend taking an Uber, parking is really hard.

Ted’s Bulletin

My daughter found Ted’s Bulletin and I am so glad! It was delicious! Ted’s Bulletin looks like a local chain with a few locations in Washington DC. We ate at the NOMA location at 1005 First St NE. Our food was so good! I would definitely return to enjoy a meal again. The Key Lime Pie was excellent. YUM! There is a parking garage nearby, but I do recommend taking an Uber.

Union Market DC

Union Market DC is a lively marketplace where we enjoyed a couple meals. We had a mixture of ramen, dumpling, crepes and coffee on our various trips to the market. There is a parking lot next to it, as well as free street parking. There is also a club on the roof, but we did not check it out. I highly recommend stopping by, it’s a fun atmosphere and the food was yummy and reasonably priced. The Union Market DC is across from Gallaudet University and located at 1309 5th st NE.

Well, that’s it! These were our five favorite restaurants in Washington DC. Hopefully I can return soon and enjoy them again!

Spring outfits with a touch of glam

Spring is giving us fabulous weather, which means it is time for sandals! Love! So, in order to glam up my spring outfits, I am rocking these sparkling, kitten heel sandals; and they are fabulous.

You know me, I love comfortable shoes. These shoes are surprisingly soft and easy to walk in, as well as stand in for awhile. They have the perfect amount of sparkle for dressing up a casual spring outfit as well as being paired with a dressy ensemble. Love that!

I paired these glam sandals with a classic knit top and this fun, printed maxi skirt. It’s a comfortable and lightweight spring outfit for this unusually warm weather we are having! I know I can continue to wear this in the summer; maybe swap out the knit top for a tee.
